@@davidblue78 girls who present as femme? Idk what you're getting at here. I’m not familiar with MUNA but this is 100% how lesbian dates go, pop culture, anticapitalism, therapy talk, sharing trauma experiences, discussion of future themes to try out…
What an enlightening podcast! I'm a 62 year old lesbian living in rural upstate NY, and rarely get to interact with younger queer people. I loved hearing everyones' perspectives on such a wide range of topics. Rock on young ones; it's your turn to carry the ball, and based on what I heard today, the future is full of promise. Oh, and I did jot down the names of the books you discussed. TY! 💜
Hey! Im a youngish queer (30) and i don’t drink so finding queer environments is hard for me too but if you’re a reader there’s an app called bookclubs that i’ve found a few queer bookclubs near me that meet virtually AND in person and ive met so many cool people of all ages that way ❤
@@sherriwineland7247 you should check out alice miller, 'the drama of the gifted child' and 'the body never lies' so instead of reading a white male you read it written (better) by a black woman!
Now that Chappell’s name has been summoned, you obviously must have her on this podcast immediately. ASAP. STAT. We deserve it. The world deserves it. The world *needs* it!
AS A FEMME LESBIAN WHO'S BEEN A FAN OF TRIXIE AND MUNA EVER SINCE I AM SHITTING MY PANTS RN !!! + trixie mentioning that having femme girls as fans is not the sane as having straight girls as fans SHES SO REAL FOR THIS
“my other side is like ‘are the house wives and the vanderpumps keeping us from overthrowing the american government’” is a thought i’ve had every night before bed thank you
Straight Black woman here. I loved this so hard (big Trixie fan, and now, about to go down a MUNA rabbit hole). This just reminded me how it so happens that all my lesbian friends are easily the coolest and the smartest.
"if you've made it to this point in the program you're either very sad, very gay, or both" sis I was just chilling, why'd you have to perceive me like that :") seriously though, it's interesting and comfortable to listen to you all, thank you for- idk it's weird to say thank you for your honesty? because you are still performing in a way. it's refreshing tho and I do get the sense you're trying to be candid about things so, yeah, thanks. :)
I have never been so invested, felt seen, or sent into an existential crisis after watching/listening to a podcast as I was after watching this. Two worlds colliding with Trixie and MUNA. All the love for this. Please have Trixie on again. Also, we need MUNA on an ep of Bald and Beautiful, K? 💖
Love the Jack Halberstam plug! I attended one of his public lectures where he gave a deep dive on the Lego movie…. His use of accessible pop culture to discuss theories of queerness, transness, capitalism, and how certain possibilities are compelled forward or closed off changed everything for me
This was great! First time coming across this channel and Muna. I paused the episode to take a listen to Munas music. I'm a gay male and I have been going through quite a bit recently, I have to share that once again Gay magic has saved my life and soul. The song What I want, in particular has reminded me of something I needed to overcome this part of what I am going through. Gay magic has ALWAYS saved me. I am so grateful ❤ thank you. I feel strong again. I feel my strength again. Thank you. I send you all as much good magic and as much love and light as I can conjure. Thank you!❤
i love how clearly articulate and well read they all are while still being so relatable and funny!! this conversation is so affirming on so many levels but also this podcast in general because i love muna omggg. gayotic is just like hanging out with your smart friends and goofing around while also having deep conversations about yourself and the world. loveee
so happy you guys had a nuanced conversation about identity with trixie... been wanting to know how she feels about it but most interviewers only ask the most reductive questions if at all :) related to everything said as a fellow mixed person :) great convo, thanks!
Glad to see this pod and y’all talking about some real issues!!! Addressing settler colonialism, and the situation in Palestine.. we need more celebs talking about this stuff. I am a big Trixie fan but she has been avoiding talking about this issue and it’s disappointing. It’s a genocide currently happening. It’s completely tone deaf to not be addressing it. So thank you
literally just went to search for a lesbian podcast after watching trixie and katya`s podcast nonstop for two weeks, and i never know THAT much about men in general so it felt like maybe i should add some lesbian ingredient in my daily content... well hello again trixie
When Trixie said some people are like "thank you" they talked about being, indigenous, palestine, capitlism, queer shit, aging, like omg can we be friends. I never have watched or heard of this band but now I am in love with Katie she has my heart. Apple music here i come.
The US is doing it in Palestine, not helping. Israel *is* the US. They exist to do the bidding of the US in that region and that's why they get so much of our tax money.
1:26:55 very much relate to this but I'm not in showbiz so I don't have to pretend for the cameras, just for everyday whenever pms starts acting up, I just feel so depressed on the inside whenever I'm alone with my thoughts but I can turn it off for others as if nothing is happening inside my brain. It feels so weird.
As a gay male, it’s difficult for me to understand why these three women in particular make me question what I thought was uncompromising home-essentiality . Am I crazy or is it giving smoke show ? Side note: so happy to see Muna & Trixie together 😭
I appreciate Katie connecting what they were talking about to Palestine at the end. And for how politically vocal muna has been. I’m a fan of Trixie, but my biggest criticism is that she has been noticeably silent when it comes to this topic. It’s especially apparent when other queer artists like muna have used their platform to advocate and there are other famous drag queens who haven’t been afraid to speak up, like Katya, Jinkx & Sasha just to name a few. I hope seeing members of muna talk about Palestine inspires Trixie to do the same. There’s no justification for being silent, because that’s complicity. While I don’t except all famous people to be political advocates, Trixie in the past has been vocal about BLM, abortion rights and LGBTQIA & drag bans. So again, her compete silence when it comes to one the the most pressing issues of our time is disappointing. What’s the point of being one of the most successful and richest drag queens ever if you’re not going to use your power for good and are constantly conforming to capitalistic interests? I think anyone who’s a fan should be asking themselves how can they justify support when the people who have the power to effect change don’t.
