Indeed. Same goes for the w126. We ruined two of the best look Mercedes with those regulations. W123 has bigger ones, but they are acceptable. The lights are what ruin them. Euro w123s got those sweet clean lenses.

I've got a 91' silver 300 SEL (W126), with 107k miles, full history, needs 1 front arch tidying up but black leather interior is 100% and I gave £800 for it. Don't know what that is in dollars? Cheap old Mercs are becoming rare and hard to find in UK now. I'll post a few pics up soon so you can have a look
and also we have w116 in yellow color it was 1979 model and we sold it for economic reasons in 1996 in that year ıts just 72.000 km:(((((. thats why ı love mercedes. now ı have 123 230 ce 85 modeland ı really love my car but ı still remember that beautiful w116 and still missing her..

Nice old thing, far from a minter tho&if he can find mask lines around handles its a poor paint-job. Those wheels are HORRIFIC, only the yanks would chrome standard wheels, total tack! W116 are spoilt by those bumpers, ungainly. W126 is a far far better car, but both of them can't hold a candle to an Jaguar XJ6 of that era, for looks and ride quality, pity they weren't built that well

If I remember right, those are the result of different regulations between Euro vs. US. Euro-version has a lot smaller bumpers.

Those are factory fitted bumpers due to US-safety regulations. They were standard on US-sold cars.

This car is a 450SEL. clearly not a 6.9. The 6.9 had different U.S. bumpers that did not have the over riders that the U.S.450SELs and 300SDs had.
