👀 Don’t forget to watch this to know exactly how to memorize chord inversions: • How to memorize every ...
It’s such an awful thing to be able to play a piece well EXCEPT for the few measures where those pesky chord jumps are….
And where all of a sudden everything falls apart for a few measures 🫨until you FINALLY struggle through those measures and end up at the measures without jumps…
Raise your hand if this sounds familiar 🙋‍♀️
When it comes to chord jumps in pieces of music, there are 2 main things that slow people down:
Finding the notes of the chord faster and playing them accurately
Landing on the correct chord when making the jump (instead of landing in the wrong spot)
And if you can’t do these 2 things, anytime you encounter a chord jump in a piece it’s going to sound slow…or worse, you won’t be able to find the right notes.
I’m going to help you learn how to do each of these flawlessly.
In this tutorial, I’m showing you exactly how to 10x ANY chord jump in ANY piece in just 2 simple steps.
If you take these steps and start implementing them today, your chord jumps will be 10x faster, 10x smoother, and 10x better.

Thank you Ashley. I think I already practice chord shapes and jumping. To hear it explained in a logical way is helpful. I will be able to apply what I learned in this video. 😊

"Ashlee." I mention this only because I'm sensitive to folks spelling my name incorrectly.

I can't wait to try this technique. However, I am unclear on how to "contract my muscles" to lock the chord shapes into memory. Am I pressing down on the keys? Or am I squeezing them together horizontally? Also, I have a question? Why do you arc so high on the jump? Surely, this must slow you down? Anyway, as usual, another great video, thanks!

Both! Squeeze horizontally and press down ✅
That is the common misconception about leaving the keys to make the jump. It seems like it will take a lot longer, but because you are making an arc that is measured and calculated to have you end up in the right spot every time, you can actually do it very quickly. The one area where Piano players get themselves in trouble when they make the ark and he hesitate in the air.

Looking good! You are an incredible and very intelligent teacher. I like how you incorporate the explanations of why and how our brains interpret and react to the lessons and examples that you show.

This is exactly what I need to know and will practice. I prefer jumps in improv rather than left hand arpeggios; it just sounds like higher level of play. Is this the kind of stuff in your course? Anyway thank you!
