    C. Saint-Saëns: Morceau de concert for horn and orchestra in F minor op 94 (horn and piano reduction)
    Abstract:
The tempo is perhaps too fast. Garcin-Marrou compares this piece with a cello one. The staccato has to be dry, "alla corda" as in the cello. They work a legato passage to maintain the direction to the higher note, and each note playing it with full sound. Then the student must do the same, but staccato. It is necessary to go deeper and see what there is under the notes, their musical meaning. In some passages there is a lack of expressiveness, intentionality, despite being played correctly. The student must differentiate between the main notes of a phrase and the ornaments, between the short ones and the long ones (like Morse code). Normally, when playing a scale, we go somewhere, we have to give it directionality. The Professor talks about accents and the composer's intention when writing them.
