Congrats on this amazing interview. I must confess I didn't know your channel. Already subscribed!! And thank for the muscal tips at the end. Very good bands / artsists. A salute from Portugal!
Wow. Such a great interview. John is not only an awesome bass player and musician. He has also become a really wise and grounded person. I have been a Duran fan for 40 years and I have seen several of his interviews and his growth in interviews has been amazing to behold.
When I went to rehab for alcohol in 2015, I lived 28 days on site - it saved my life - and I had John Taylor's memoir to help me endure. The band - they're all fantastic - John's growth is just been incredible. I'm still sober today - John's led by example. I think he's been learning piano as well as his painting - his bass tutorial vids from during lockdown are terrific. So was his interviews with Susanna Hoffs - and I think Billy Idol, too? God Bless you, Nigel John Taylor! Trust the Process!
When I was a kid in school in the 1980s in Ireland, all people talked about was John Taylor. I had to go find out who John Taylor was. Then I saw him on my older sisters bedroom walls in posters. He was amazing looking. Nobody ever outdone his looks. Very beautiful. Good memories from those days. It was lovely without social media and go to the neighbors or phone box to call your friends.
I am so glad that I had once got entangled in conversation with him on one of those very nights of an Q&A with Autograph session. He cut away from speaking to the host twice to speak up to me from his seat on the stage before I got in the autograph line. He asked me directly (while I was a bit dazed, still amazed I’m there at the event) “Are we still doing it right?” Realized he was talking to me, snapping out of it “What? ME?!” (He laughs) “Well yeah of course you are, it’s still fantastic!!” The other question was at first to everyone if they remember the movie Still Crazy, and direct to me again “Do you? It’s a good one”
John Taylor bass guitar player is a totally awesome amazing player I've been a die hard Duranie since 1981 now still a die hard Duranie now at 54 yrs old 🗝️ Duran Duran best band on planet earth 🌎🌎🌎🎉🎉🎉 totally brilliant 💪💪💪 thx for sharing JT is epic awesome 💯💯💯
Since 1980-81 I was in love with everything Duran Duran & John Taylor has been my biggest crush ever. I made a great choice & when I see this handsome articulate gentleman today my heart fills with joy and gratitude for the years of amazing tunes that are forever engraved in my heart and soul becoming a quintessential part of my musical emotional passion.
I came of age during the 80's and I always wished I was John Taylor!. Always idolized him and his bass playing. Duran Duran has held up well all these years and they look and sound great!
He is such a clever and inspiring soul, love to listen to JT talk about his journey, and he is so spot on about relationships being the ultimate goal in life.
I'm an average 57 year old in England, always loved Duran and always thought John was the cool one including all my girlfriends at the time. Side Note: I really liked Adam and the Ants :) John seems very honest and grounded, it's called growing up, kudos to him and the band
This was an amazing interview, John Taylor was always my favorite, me being a DD fan since 1981. It is pretty cool to hear what he loves, his music influences and such, as a fellow Gemini I can relate to his creativity he is very Inspiring.I really enjoyed this interview, thanks for posting.
I'm in Love with Duran Duran since 1981, (Planet Earth) and they are part of my life. The last album Future Past it's a masterpiece, I saw them last year here in Portugal in a show with 80.000 people crazy with their live performance, John it's a great musician and a guy with great taste. Thank you for this inspiring and amazing interview, I hope you can invite Nick Rhodes too.
25:30 - 50 shows!, and there are only 52 weekends in a year. A new album, constant playing and touring, these guys play themselves down. When he goes MMmmm. It reminds me of when his bass goes Wooommm!
sweet interview!! As a longtime lover of all things musical, rock n roll whatever, who only got as far as working at MTV for a few years, I appreciate your enthusiasm and honesty with your guests in your interactions. 👍 This one especially due to Duran (and John in particular) being my absolute favorite band and band member of all time. 👏👏❤️❤️
This is my favorite interview by you so far, John in a legend! Duran Duran is one of the the best! Also, Tears for Fears (my fav) how about interviewing Roland Orzabal & Curt Smith? They are currently on tour as well! Your interviews are fantastic, you are so kind and funny and respectful of these amazing artists! Loved the Billy Corgan interview too! Bravo!
You just made my day! Thank you so much for your support and for taking the time to share your amazing feedback with me!!! I love Tears For Fears too! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
A good interview indeed. Even though you might have been too young when Duran Duran dominated the world, you did a good job with the interview, Allison.
The soundtrack of my teen years, always admired DD creativity and loved the music (though never one of the “fan club” types) really grateful for JTs stone love bass odyssey tutorial series too, those iconic bass-lines are unforgettable. Sir- Thankyou for the music!
I can't believe you said trapper keeper ,but John was my crush and me and my girlfriends all loved them one of them went to their concert ladtnite for her 50Th!! So yess we,re longtime fans God bless the 80s
Thanks for posting this amazing interview! John's interviews always fascinate me on his love of music. I've been a fan of his since I was 14 years old. I finally got to a Duran Duran concert this past summer!
What a great interview ❤. I've loved John Taylor since many moons ago. I'm so proud of them. I've been fortunate to see them twice in concert the past year. May they continue to be successful ❤.
I Love Duran, John, and the interview. I do wish that he could listen back to this, and then FOREVER Remove, "you know" from his vocabulary. Imagine this interview with Every "you know" removed.
What a great interview! I'd like to think that if I was ever face to face wit JT I would be this engaging, curious and attentive and not just stand there dumbfounded. I'd never seen Allison before but she conducted an interview that a diehard fan of the artist loved from beginning to end.
Awesome interview. Sounds like you both really enjoyed it. :) He inspired me to pick up the bass guitar back in the 80s. Hope you get a chance to see his art work one day. :)
I’m a little surprised she didn’t know about his art, considering he had an exhibition just last year. Unless she was trying to get him to bring it up himself.
It doesnt matter so much. Its the content of the interview that matters. Both Allison and John killed this interview. So much information for fans and newbies alike.
@@bukitkatilmp If you're a visual person, it may not matter. I am a verbal person and it does matter. I pay attention to words and their meaning and when those words are constantly peppered with "You know" it gets very distracting. Effective speaking can inspire and motivate people. That's why rhetoric was taught for centuries.
He quit the band around the time of the Red carpet massacre album. He does his own work now. He is battling cancer, but seems to have found a treatment.
The ripped T-shirt implying sexuality does not add credibility, especially in this day and age. Does nothing for me. Show me you did research and ask original questions for cred.
50 shifts ( on more than 5 hours) isn't bad for making stupid American money. That's why they play the cheesiest inventory among their songs. Old dudes and laziness. Let's just be real about that. I'm not saying JT is a terrible guy ...but I can promise anyone and bet a few limbs ( not that it's that deep ) dude isn't the most beneee dude just because he's in his elder years.
