I used to live in the neighborhood with a lawyer old couple, we have HOA, but this couple manage to let their front yard look like a ghost house with grasses taller than me and and old rusty with all 4 flat tires shiting on their drive way. Apparently they are know how to work around the law and fight against HOA in courts, claim that their grasses was herbs or something.

@@NewsNowLIVE1 I live in a gated one now. There are beautiful landscaped homes where people care about the upkeep of the neighborhood. There are no junk cars, vehicles lining up both sides of the street, loud music or barking dogs. The people who don’t like these neighborhoods would normally be the ones causing the problems.

This is why I like living somewhere where I cant see my neighbors. That way, if my neighbor decides to paint their house a headache inducing color, I wont care, because I wont be able to see it.

If someone won't buy a home because there's a pink house on the block, it's probably better for the whole community.

His reasoning for why he wanted to paint his property pink is very wholesome, and for someone who had so much taken away from him at a young age, it saddens me to know there are neighbors out there whom if they had the power, would probably try and take that away from him. Let the man be and have his happiness. Also, the younger kid who chimed in at the end of the video said something that was very touching and something a lot of people need to hear.

I worked for a boss who loved colorful houses. We were in a neighborhood that didn't have a lot of color basically bland. He bought a significant portion of the properties in this area and started painting them pink purple green a mixture of all the brightest colors. We were painting a bright purple house in between two normal houses. When my boss came the neighbors came out and started yelling at him about why they would paint something like that. My boss didn't miss a beat he started bitching them out and saying he's the one that's actually making this neighborhood look better. You said you should be thanking me not yelling at me. He was the one getting rid of all the drug dealers and prostitutes. I know it sounds like a stretch but he really did buy so much of the area that he kicked out 90% of the bs. The people knew who he was just shut up and walked back in thier house.
This man has been through enough. Let him have his pink house in peace.💗

Using a broader lens, the “Pink” house is more relevant when the neighbors want to sell their homes AND nobody wants to buy due to the pink house w/the pink lights next door.
As a home owner, I do understand their perspective as well. I would sell & move immediately as he is free to continue his personalization of his home. It will get worse.
Unfortunately, this is exactly how a nice neighborhood turns “bad”. As residents are desperate to sell or rent out, prices drop, which financially allows a different income group in (family of 15+, seen it happen, think of all the cars parked up & down the street blocking driveways), and/or homes vacant for squatters/etc. Once squatters move in, you are financially done especially pending your state’s laws. This is of course the USA so the young man is free to do as he pleases with his property but as for me his behavior seems a bit on the selfish side. I can only imagine the hardships that he’s faced so I can’t really relate to what’s lead him to this mentality. I know lots of military veterans that have lost more than he’s ever thought about losing and apparently since he’s living in a nice home and the vets are sometimes homeless I’m going to stick with my thought that he’s being selfish. I personally would conduct myself with the mindset of would my neighbors run into my home to save me if it was on fire? In a basic sense that’s one reason to play nicely with one another.

My parents built their house in the late 60's & all of our neighbors have a unique home, some 1 story & others 2/3 stories. Everyone that passes expresses how they admire our neighborhood because no house looks the same. Everything is boring now. I prefer the old way. On my block, they didn't go into a sample home & pick a few shutter color changes. They built it with their own ideas in mind and no one complained because they were all able to do the same.

There was a story like this in Haddonfield NJ. The town was settled by Quakers and they had a strict code for home colors. This couple found the most loud purple within the guidelines of the historic town and painted their entire house with that color. Historical committee was mad as hell, but legally they couldn't do anything about it.

Some people are always going to be miserable. You can't please everybody in this world no matter what you do. He is happy in spite of what he has had to endure throughout his life. I see nothing wrong with the beautiful color of his home. It's fun & expressive to pick the color of your own home, other countries do it all the time.
Diversity & individuality is a good thing. I went to visit Mexico for the first time & I was delightfully surprised by the array of beautiful colors the houses were.
Blue, pink, green, orange just a rainbow of colored houses.
We live in such a cookie-cutter society that some people have become terribly programmed (immuned) to the supposed norms of society.
Those complaining nitpicking neighbor's should mind their own & learn how to be happy from this young man's wonderful & creative example.

I like it, it's unique. And the house/property looks well kept. I think the real eyesore properties are those that are unkept/run down/ hoarded. I'd rather live near that house than one that looks abandoned

I love it! A man's home is his castle. As long as it doesn't have garbage on the front lawn or visible parts, a person should be able to make his/her house any color(s) they want. That's the point of owning your own house. There is more to life than property values, which already are ridiculously high. Anything to bring them down should be welcome actually.

1:04 You wouldn't be grandfathered in, you just refuse to join. If an HOA did not exist when you moved it, they can not force you to join if they form one. My dad bought a new house when he retired, and 3 years later an HOA formed and he refused to join. He breaks just about every rule of theirs he can just to give them a giant middle finger because they can't do shit to him.
