what makes it different from the "robot-like compliance" in my humble opinion is the fact that this dog enjoys it so much. I believe this is a great example of "marker training" notice she rewards him with a pat/scratch/caress on the head which he obviously was waiting for. Positive reinforcement works best with these dogs..and it shows in the way he adores her and waits for that affirmation.
I agree, this dog is having fun. It should also be watched by all those who say a RR can't be trained. I have three and most people ask how come they are so obedient as they are RR's... I too am working on some of these exercises, however, having watched this, I know how much more I need to do! Well done to this owner!
It's a real pleasure to see a RR having so much fun in obedience! They usually look like they'd rather die :))) Beautiful boy and sooo enthusiastic :) good job :)))
Although I've never been a big fan of this level of robot-like compliance to obedience commands, I must say that I'm impressed with what I've seen here. I did not think that any hound breed could be trained to this level of precision obedience, which is normally found only in German working breeds.
This is amazing! The Ridgebacks are not the easiest dog to train and not for just anybody. They can be very stubborn & will reason it out if they really want to obey, or not. They are quite loyal but also fierce. I have had one for about two years now. Gentle with the training too. It is true that they were originally bred for lion hunting. Not for the faint of heart. I have had a Doberman and we went to obedience training, she was way easier to train.
ur RR is very smart ... wanna come train mine to do that lol mine is 6 yrs old and she is a rescue she is absolutely perfect already not a single problem but she doesnt have this much control off the leash lol very nice dog training
Wow. Please tell me how you did this! My wife and I have a 7 month old RR, and she is awesome, and pretty obedient for a puppy, and she has been so easy to train. But we do have a little bit of a tough time getting her to stay by our side during walks. I'd love some input!
listen up ya prissy tree huggin cat lovin wooman, ya don know dogs like i do ok, my homie jadilla has a mean ass pitbull and it dont need no wack dog trainin!!!!
Sad… when is a Ridgeback not a Ridgeback? When it's a robot. Tremendous effort must have gone into this, all to eradicate every trace of 'ridgebackery' (the wonderful, independent-minded lunacy and endearing behaviour characteristics) out of a Ridgeback, destroying its essential character. There are many breeds whose joy is to do your bidding - that's what they've been bred for - why not choose one and make it happy? RRs were bred to think for themselves, and indecisiveness meant quick death.
Very impressive. He never stops looking at you. Love is in the air. I have a RR ridgeless is 4 months old. A real charm.
Thx

Spectacular!! What a magnificent job you have done. We get our new RR pup in 3 weeks. You have set the bar very high for training.

Great - RR´s can work in Obedience, too. I like watching your video ;-)
verygood
No treats or clicker seen, what training went into making this happy obedient dog?
you don't need a clicker or treat, seriously...we train on voice which works very well.
For the first part the dogs face was basically in her pocket. So I'm pretty sure there was some treat training.
Great job!
Красиво!
SUUUUUPER!
