If listening to a song is that hard for you, you should really rethink what's going on in your life. Like Michael said, 90% of us don't have the time to worry about politics. I have a wife and child, and a job. Those are my concerns, not what the president blabbled out today.
I think the point of music is to make people feel, so the point of political music is to make people feel about politics. But I don't think political music makes the listener feel anything new, in the way most (all?) other genres of music are able to. I think it just amplifies what the listener already feels. Look at Rage Against The Machine, they're one of the most obvious examples. Their entire sound is based on making the listener feel as angry as they do, about whatever they sing about. But how convincing is a song? There aren't facts or data. There is no clear problem or solution. It just makes people who agree, agree more. And people who disagree, disagree more. There is always an attempt to censor politically charged music, and as always, any censored idea is only given more of a platform. We need to stop tone policing the world because we don't like something. That much I think everyone can agree with. I don't like this song, I don't like it's ideas. I think it's a very obvious cash grab and it's silly to me how people feel so strongly about it. But it isn't causing any harm or doing any good. It's just a song about politics.

The first 1 is I watch all your videos and I really love how you pick a song and you break it down melodically and make sense of it and I learned a lot from you and believe you’re a genius.
2nd part u talked about 2 points
1 People being afraid to talk because everyone is getting offended too easily, well this perspective can be comprehensible coming out from someone who’s not politically involved which yourself as you said in the video which I dont think it‘s true, I think you knew already posting this would offend part of your audience because Ben Shapiro is already part of an Extreme side and sending a message through this song, and you gave him your audience and platform by posting it. Which send us to the 2nd point
3rd part which is the point you mentioned in 10:26 to the end of the video, If you’re not one of those camps, so please please don’t post to any of them or be fair and give your platform for both. Assuming you had good intentions and you’re only talking music here.
Finally and musically, I don’t believe this song added any value to my music learning or your music teaching as I can’t see anything musically outstanding in it. This song was created only to offend the other extreme who’s being bombed and murdered every second and a child is being killed every 4 mins you again gave him a platform.
Please don’t stay politically ignorant and educate yourself about it you should feel lucky that you’re busy raising you’re kids, our people are busy trying to find food water and Shelter which are the basic human rights because Ben Shapiro’s Extreme decided to deprive them from these rights

Tom is about uniting people. He does this kind of track annually to start a conversation. He structures lines together off the rip to cause friction. To perk ears up.
He never really offers a solution because that wouldn't create dialog. Coming from Canada straight to LA. Culture shock.
We don't even have news stations. Just a couple of government funded networks that do the evening News. Kind of better but problematic when a government is overstepping and control the media.
Probably 90% of north America is on the same side in the middle with a few different beliefs.

I think the point of music is to make people feel, so the point of political music is to make people feel about politics. But I don't think political music makes the listener feel anything new, in the way most (all?) other genres of music are able to. I think it just amplifies what the listener already feels. Look at Rage Against The Machine, they're one of the most obvious examples. Their entire sound is based on making the listener feel as angry as they do, about whatever they sing about. But how convincing is a song? There aren't facts or data. There is no clear problem or solution. It just makes people who agree, agree more. And people who disagree, disagree more. There is always an attempt to censor politically charged music, and as always, any censored idea is only given more of a platform. We need to stop tone policing the world because we don't like something. That much I think everyone can agree with.
I don't like this song, I don't like it's ideas. I think it's a very obvious cash grab and it's silly to me how people feel so strongly about it. But it isn't causing any harm or doing any good. It's just a song about politics.

Nice sentiment but if one of your kids was trans or you were raising young black boys then you would probably give a shit about politics. My boy is black and i am terrified how the police will treat him when he gets older. I do not have the luxury to put my fingers in my ears and block out the noise.

I know you dont follow politics, so you may not know who Ben Shapiro and Tom McDonald really are. Both of them, I would say are a part of the extremist on the right. Some of the things they both frequently say are downright hateful. I do have my own political views, but overall I just generally oppose any kind of hateful worldview. If me beinf uncomfortable with hate is just "being offended," then so be it. But I really think its more than that.

I genuinely would argue Tom MacDonald doesn’t philosophically qualify as a musician. Like he’s not using the medium of music to convey any aesthetic or artistic point or sensibility whatsoever. It’s just culturally relevant, so he can use it for his dumb politics, and he can spit pretty fast, so this form works for him. In other words, if this was spray-painted on the side of a building, or put in an Instagram video instead of in a song, it would be exactly as relevant as it is now. He’d have all his fans astroturf it to relevance. I mean, it’s not like the fact it’s a song adds anything or changes what you’re supposed to feel.

I appreciate that you don’t have to deal with that stuff and it doesn’t bother you. Many of us wish we had that life again. I live in a dark blue state in a dark blue area. I can’t just live my life and expect to be left alone. It’s forced into my kids’ schools, it’s forced into kid’s entertainment, and it’s forced into our culture. Personally, I was always very moderate and even considered myself liberal in some aspects. After 2012, the extremism from the left has encroached so much on many people’s lives that the only way to stop it was to go right. I didn’t want to, but it was the only way to stop the stupidity. Just go back to videos of Biden, Obama, Pelosi, and other Democrats and you’ll hear them saying the exact same things that Republicans (including Trump) are saying today. The Left needs to come back to the real world so we can live our lives without having to obsess over politics too.

I saw this song getting headlines, but hadn't listened to it yet, so thank you for sharing. I've read a few of the comments flowing in here, and here is what always amazes me. The liberal message saturates everything we see everywhere, be it media, Hollywood, musicians, education, tech companies, etc. You can't escape it. A liberal leaning person doesn't have to seek out a liberal message; it's in our face all the time. They can easily block out the small amount of conservative messaging that exists. A conservative can't escape liberal messaging; it's just impossible. They have to actually seek out conservative voices. So, you share something that has a tinge of conservative messaging (tbh, I don't even know who Tom MacDonald is, but I'm familiar with Ben Shapiro), and those folks who can only make it through a day with 100% of everything they see being from a liberal mindset lose their minds and determine that they never want to associate themselves again with this wonderful musical mind that you share with us. I'll just never understand that. So, anyhow....like you said, back to my wife and kids and seeing what else we have planned for the rest of the day 😃
