Amen to that! Crazy. Her voice in conjunction with the guitar is so haunting…in an epic way. It’s the small nuances that make it superb! Beautiful!! Thank you, Evan!!
Michael, thanks for calling Lera out, I’ve been a huge fan for years after discovering her at a live gig here in Nashville. Hauntingly gorgeous melodic sensibility - vocally and instrumentally. Another favorite of mine is her duet with Dylan LeBlanc, ‘What is Love’. Phenomenal. (Also, props to the band and the production team - impeccable).
Wow! I could hear Joni in there right away, so I went to the comments to see if anybody else could hear the higher Joni notes. Then Sheryl comes in there in the middle. Even though she sounds like other greats, we better just apluad her for her own unique voice, excellent!
Dude, finally! She's absolutely incredible. One of the most talented musicians and songwriters out there. "Fade Into the Black", "Letters", "Whiskey", "Bobby, Baby", "Dark Horse"... The list goes on.
I have been obsessed with Lera for about 10 years now. My husband happened to find her on a feature by Garden and Gun magazine when only her first album was out. I remember seeing the teaser trailer for True Detective season 2 one day and I instantly knew that was her voice. I have seen her live 4 times and literally crave the next time I get to see live. I was lucky enough to be at one of her show’s that the banjo player from the Wolf Like Me video was in the audience so she pulled him up to play the song. One of my favorite songs of all time is Black Hole Sun and she did a live cover at the last show I saw her at and almost lost my mind! I am glad more people are finding her!
Michael, new subsciriber here! Thank you for bringing such beautiful artists to light my friend. I played a little guitar as a kid, but never stuck with it sadly. I'm in my mid 50s now and pieces like this just absolutely melt my heart. I can recognize the musicianship and I know the talent it requires. Your picking them apart allows an even greater appreciation. Thanks for being there for guys like me. Keep it up please.
I discovered her randomly when "Avenues" came out, and Sailor Song was the first song I heard from her; it's hauntingly gorgeous. Then totally forgot, and True Detective Season 2 came in like a force, reminding me, where she recorded 5 songs for it, and is in a few episodes playing them live. "The Only Thing Worth Fighting For" is my favorite from the bunch, and now have almost every song from her ❤.
@@jsmorman I watched it when it was on HBO, and was left feeling mixed... fast forward this past February, I really had time to soak it all in, and it is my favorite season. I know I'm in the minority with that one, but it hit so hard the 2nd time around!
I'll echo what others have put below, her cover of TV on the Radio's "Wolf Like Me" is one of my all-time favorite covers. She recorded it with Shovels & Rope and it's great, but my favorite is the version with just her and Ben Lewis on banjo sharing one mic. I don't think we're allowed to post links here but search "Lera Lynn Wolf Like Me" and pick the one where they're in front of a brown curtain. Amazing.
I love these videos, and yes these videos are where I find out about new (to me) artists! Finding these new artist give me faith that music is still alive!
WOWIE. Incredibly gifted musician, amazing vocals, cool chord progression. I dig her. I love hearing chord changes you don't think belong, but the musicians make it work to blend with vocals/other instrumentation. F'n sweet! Thanks to the dude who recommended it and Palmie for creating a video for it. Yep, your new nickname, buddy! Palmie! LOL.
Lyra is great. I first saw her in True Detective season 2. She played diegetic background music in a couple of bar scenes. Loved the album this song is from.
Dawg, I tuned in to listen , sounds great by the way! That JAWS shirt messed me up, the image snatched me back in time, 56 now ,think I was 7 or 8 when JAWS first come out? Missed those 70s, crazy how memories flooded my thoughts like that like a vacuum, and the draw of emotion in that music she playing !
Not in to the "Sounds like" comparisons" I think she's unique, original, great range and expression. I had the opportunity to talk to her after a festival. Asked her if "Bobby Baby" was about someone she knew. She said, yeah, that one is about my Dad. After removing foot from mouth all I could say was so sorry. She was very sweet. Check out the acoustic duo videos with the guy from Of Montreal.
Hey Michael! Here to encourage you to review Lucas Imbiriba's cover of Audioslave's "Like A Stone." Very good Brazilian acoustic guitarist and great tone to his voice.
How ironic. Like 11 years ago I was testing a field recorder at an open Air Festival here at Jacksonville Beach and I have about 25 minutes of her show on my RUclips page. I need to go back and raise the audio but you should go check it out pretty cool stuff
The camera shots are almost perfect. On focus, sharp. But the movement is just janky. Put those shots on something rigid and with a pivot or glide (I'm not in the industry so not sure on the lingo), could be perfection. Too much movement. The music IS SENSATIONAL! Keep going! Thank you!
@ Michael Palmisano please could u do a reaction video to David gray-sail way live performance on jools Holland. He's an English artist who is a legend but is criminally underrated and I think you would like it
Michael, Love your channel. New follower here. I have to ask if you have had the chance to to react to Nothing but Thieves - impossible. (Live from Abby Road) I scrolled for a while in your videos and did not see it. It is an amazing performance. Love the content. Keep it up! 😊
Amen to that! Crazy. Her voice in conjunction with the guitar is so haunting…in an epic way. It’s the small nuances that make it superb! Beautiful!! Thank you, Evan!!
I find some of the best music on this channel. Thanks for doing what you do!
Dude, anytime I see 'you're welcome' on your title, I know I am going to like it.
I trust your taste in music so much!
Just subscribed after watching 4 of your videos. I'm experiencing new musicians! Very valuable content. Thanks.
Her cover of TV on the Radio's "Wolf Like Me" is so amazing.

That whole album is great. The production is really good too. A very open natural sound.
Wow! I could hear Joni in there right away, so I went to the comments to see if anybody else could hear the higher Joni notes. Then Sheryl comes in there in the middle. Even though she sounds like other greats, we better just apluad her for her own unique voice, excellent!
100 percent
Yep, herd Joni too right away.

Oh wow. Thanks for sharing. I would love her publish Black Hole Sun.
@@SapperRJMorganshe did on her Live and Unplugged from Vinyl Tap album
I want to thank you for helping me discover enriching talent that I never heard of. ❤

Less than a minute in, and I'm loving her--and then the band comes in... WOW! I LOVED this!!!! Thank you. WOW!
I first heard her music on the True Detective series (the one with Colin Farrell). “My Least Favourite Life” is a great song.
Same here. Now we know Michael also needs to watch True Detective.
She was the best part of season 2. That and one line... 'He was a god warrior that day'
Ditto... a fan ever since
Her Wolf Like Me cover blew me away. This is a beautiful song.
Yeaah ...i was lucky enough to met her and work with last year...and ooooh boy 🙈 she is genius! Pure talent and sweet woman ❤
I’m sad I can’t experience Lera’s music for the first time again. You guys are in for a wonderful ride.
Great cord progression. Beautiful voice. The other musicians match her perfectly. Giving her room to lead. Absolutely beautiful
Reminds me of Joni Mitchell. Excellent!
I've been a fan since I heard her on true detective, I've seen her live four times, always blows me away with that voice. 😊

This is making me want to rewatch True Detective season 2. Which I did about a year ago.

Tori and Joni and a touch of Sheryl...and still unique. Great performance. So nice.
Wow - Thank you Evan!
her cover of "Wolf like me" changes the song completely. It's so.fucking.haunting. it's a favorite of mine
Really nice in every way. Thanks for that
I believe the stuff she did for hbo was written by dolly parton
So pretty and beautiful voice too

Her duet album is brilliant. Discovered her from true detective a while back.. glad you made this video!! Hope she continues to blow up
So laid back. Great electric guitar tone and what a great riff. Killer stuff
I do and yes shes amazing!

Wow! I'm in! She's fantastic.
Lovely, brilliant.
👍🏻👋🏻
Wow. Shes frickin great. Thnx for the share brother!
A great find and a new name to me. There's always real talent out there somewhere. I just need pointing in the right direction. Thanks Michael!
Lyra is great.
I first saw her in True Detective season 2.
She played diegetic background music in a couple of bar scenes.
Loved the album this song is from.
You’ve done it again, Michael. Another largely unknown artist given audience by your reach. Wonderful. A new artist to add to my collection. ❤
Joni Mitchell-ish, love it. Hey, love your channel man! Found it yesterday 😍
What a great way to end a good day. Thank you
Been a fan of Lera since long before her 2015 appearance on True Detective.
Surprised you weren't familiar with Lera. Glad you are now!
haha definitely my favorite way to find new good music for sure
Huge shades of Joni- such a good thing.
Wow, aspirational. I thought I was good with chord progressions but she sets a new bar
Dawg, I tuned in to listen , sounds great by the way! That JAWS shirt messed me up, the image snatched me back in time, 56 now ,think I was 7 or 8 when JAWS first come out? Oh my...❤
maj7sus2 are my fav chords. they are invoke a feeling of relaxed hapiness :D
What a voice
She is incredible
She should be a household name, if only the masses cared about great music any more.
Sounds a little like Cowboy Junkies...EPIC
She definitely is this generation’s Joni Mitchell…creative vocally and on guitar…..thank you for the introduction!
Thank you

She has a lot of Joni Mitchel in her delivery...and I'm here for it.
She is amazing! Thankyou Michael. Instantly obsessed. What was the title of this song?
I could be wrong but I think I saw her on one of the talent shows on tv
And she can sing. Lucky, lucky you at having found her. Try 'Make You Okay,' 'Bobby Baby,' and 'Lose Myself,' with John Paul White.
I looked her up. I'm surprised she doesn't have a bigger following. She's really good.
💙your theories were cool man🤘🏽
First time hearing this artist. I'm getting vibes of Cowboy Junkies.
Good Lord, not even through this video one time and tearing up. Good for her. Also, who produced this thing??
Gotta love the T !! 👍🏻💪🏻
I hear Margot Timmons from the Cowboy Junkies. That same ethereal vibe too from the band.
she did a few songs for the first season of True Detective. Check out My Least Favorite Life
Gives me Joni Mitchell/Gillian Welch vibes. I dig it!
What’s the name of this song? I love it!
Let’s get it!!
Hey Michael! Here to encourage you to review Lucas Imbiriba's cover of Audioslave's "Like A Stone." Very good Brazilian acoustic guitarist and great tone to his voice.
I get a Kathy Mattea vibe too.
How ironic. Like 11 years ago I was testing a field recorder at an open Air Festival here at Jacksonville Beach and I have about 25 minutes of her show on my RUclips page. I need to go back and raise the audio but you should go check it out pretty cool stuff
Yeah the audio is not that great on my video.
She sounds a lot like Joni Mitchell.
And hits Spotify for a deep dive
wow
Good lord
The style of music reminds me a lot of Madison Cunningham!
She has a song featuring Dylan LeBlanc called "What is Love" and it is beautiful beyond words.
She's like a country Sarah McLaughlin
Her guitar collection alone puts most of us to shame
Name of song ?

Voice quality in the Joni Mitchell lane
Got some Joanie M in there
I’m honored to be this early
almost a joni mitchell hook voice, eh?
joni
Joni
Lots to talk about. The lead guitar was so sparse, I wanted to hear more, yet more would have been too much.
Hey bud this is more of a reaction channel these days- less time showing us fingerings and more time reacting to the music would be great.
Man have you lowered your standards!!! This ok but stick to guitar players.
