'iris' has always been a song I’ve loved and connected with. I felt inspired to record a stripped back one-take cover of it in my bedroom which I posted without thinking too much and the response from you all was overwhelmingly positive... so I decided to record it properly in my home studio & shoot a slightly cooler video for it that just me in my room lol (thanks lara) - and here we are! thank you for all the love on this cover over the last month, I hope you love this full version, out everywhere now x

know sometimes people say , "If you are sad then why are you listening to sad songs?"
they believe that sad songs make us sadder, but to me at least it feels like a hug. to know someone out there feels just like you, to know you aren't alone...it feels like someone just gave you a big hug.
people always ask me, 'why are you listening to depressing music' if you listen to this and feed depressed, there may be something genuinely wrong with you. Sometimes music just allows you to feel what you need to more deeply
i find comfort in being understood, and sad songs/lyrics explain exactly what im trying to explain.

@@cairosocyon I do agree, perhaps I was overly critical, but this is such a beginner style of singing from a singer that will hopefully grow to deliver more after the Eilish boom continues its downward decline (because its a gimmick) I didn’t say I hate the artist nor attack his potential, but it’s important to know if this stands up outside of this artist’s audience and while he may be able to, whispering an ASMR tone is a completely different story telling device to a low, atoning style which leads to a belting crescendo. Please listen to the original’s official acoustic version, studio then this and you’ll see it’s using a toothpick to cut steak. Im a fan of modern vocal styles but we must always critique why things work or how could we tell Logan Paul from Eminem?

Ever since I was little I’d wait for my siblings and I to watch Treasure planet just to hear this band’s music. My mom hand a ton of their CDs at the time and Iris and I;m still here always made me cry. I connected to this song so much because my fears of people seeing all of me was so much bigger than my desire to connect with others and be loved. This cover just hit me in such a way I just can’t describe it. It gave me new inspirations for a short film, thank you for that.

I was looking for the video for the American "Riptide Kid" that went viral in 2015, somehow RUclips recommended your 2014 The Voice Kids Australia audition where you also sang Riptide and I'm not at all disappointed because that led me here to this beautiful piece of art. I don't know what's happened in your life between your run on The Voice in 2014 and when you uploaded this in 2021, but you've transformed, like how a bud becomes a bloom. This is hands-down the best cover of this song I have ever heard and I've been listening to this song since its release in 1998 when I was about 13 years old. This song is so important to me, when I heard it for the very first time it had a major impact on me. It's hard to explain but I "felt" connected to it, it felt like the song was describing feelings I didn't have words for prior to that, it was like I was being seen, heard, and understood for the first time in my life. It was something I clung to like a life-raft for the next few years when I descended into a near decade long mental breakdown that saw me suicidal and distraught. This single song changed the trajectory of my musical interests, tossing away my childhood of country music, and becoming my threshold of adolescence into grunge, post-grunge, punk, alternative, and other genres of rock music, of which I still favor today. I am grateful to have survived my suicide attempt in 2002 at age 16 for many reasons, but your performance of Iris is also now one of those reasons. I'm sorry I missed out on the last nine or so years of your musical journey. Thank you for sharing 🙏
