- WE ARE BACK BABY!!!! Elvis Week 2023 DAY 1 - Complete!
We fell into Memphis around 9am and our day kick started from there! We got to do so many cool things: speak with Lowell Hayes, eat lunch in Graceland, and see the Elvis Finale Tribute Contest!
The highlight of my day was speaking with Lowell Hayes. He is the sweetest man full of wonderful stories about his time with Elvis! If you ever need any EP jewelry he is your man! All of his information is below if you would like to contact him!

I lived in Memphis all my life. I never knew about Elvis week till two years ago. I avoid Elvis Blvd cuz of all the out of town people. But it’s good to know they’re having fun
I have met so many people that have said the same thing. I think it’s a thing for people that live in the same city as an attraction

@@myrel543 I always knew about Elvis and his house but I did not know a week was dedicated to him . When you live in Memphis and drive by it every day. It’s not uncommon to see a lot of people. I never give it a thought because it was normal . But have fun and enjoy the food

Let me give you a compliment beside this being Elvis week and people celebrating Elvis. Here it is : The best thing is that you both are so close with your relationship. Mom and daughter spending time like this, this is so very special remember that. You may know or not know but many parents would wish they had this what you have so this is so much more special an visiting Elvis's craceland etc etc. I Have been an Elvis fan also ok, I am still but not going crazy over it anymore as I did then back in the days. I been to Craceland also like 3 times. Had to visit Hawaii where Elvis filmed Blue Hawaii at the Coco Palms Kauai had to touch the door and the walls on the coliseum in Honolulu where he had his Aloha concert in 1973. Ok great about Elvis but the most great thing is that you 2 have each other me seeing both of you having your love for each other that you can do this brings tears to my eyes. Goos luck to both of you. Remember, this life is not forever for anyone so this is very special. Short story, me being a big Elvis fan at the time and we ok me and my daughter also spent a lot of time together we even went to Hawaii for my 50th B day since Hawaii is the 50th state and not just that but I wanted to turn 50 in that state where Elvis placed Hawaii on the map so anyway, we visited Hawaii and wow, did we have fun. My daughter asked at the airport that Dad, what kind of a car are we going to rent and I said, what kind do you want to drive, she looked at me and said wow, I want to ride in a Jeep I said no, you are not going to ride, you are going to drive and I ride LOL...............................wow, did we have fun. Now it's only memories since she died 4 years ago and she was my only child. So, when I see you guys here having each other and also being there celebrating Elvis wow, it brings back some beautiful memories that I will never ever have again.

Great question to Lowell about the TCB diamond which he set into Ginger Alden's engagement ring. The many facets of Ginger's diamond are symbolic of the many facets of Elvis. The long running controversy about whether Elvis was or was not engaged or was or was not going to marry Ginger is a product of Elvis's many facets. Ginger was a young woman with very little relationship experience who was swept off her feet by a man who had been through many relationships and possessed an undeniable charisma. Ginger sincerely believed she was engaged and Lowell's story reinforces her experience of the events. Others close to Elvis say he complained about Ginger and acted in a way which they interpreted to mean he would not marry Ginger. Elvis was a shrewd judge of character and most of those he allowed into his life were extraordinary people, but they were, like Elvis, only human. Several displayed and continue to display and even publish a shocking lack of compassion and understanding and human decency towards Ginger. When Elvis was with Ginger, he showed her a facet of himself which was loving and intellectual and stimulating and attractive. When Elvis was with those who did not like what they perceived to be Ginger's intrusion into Elvis's and, by extension, their lives, Elvis displayed another facet by letting loose with his disappointments about his relationship with Ginger. Of course there were tensions between Elvis and Ginger because they had an extreme age difference exacerbated by Ginger's inexperience and Elvis's overwhelming desire for the relationship to be what he dreamed and not to allow it to grow organically. But Ginger is not lying when she says she was engaged. Neither are others lying when they state, in their opinion, Elvis was not going to marry Ginger. The most important thing to understand when reading or hearing Elvis history is those who were there are telling the emotional truth of events from their perspective and that multiple sides can be true, even though some sides are incorrect. No matter how you twist and turn a diamond, you can never see all the facets at once and the same was true of Elvis, no one ever got to see all the facets of Elvis except maybe Gladys and Vernon.

You are able to go in the house but only the main floor. Unfortunately the basement isn’t wheelchair accessible. All the exhibits are wheelchair accessible at Graceland!
