I found your video very helpful. But I have a further question: how can I access my Spectrum Cable/DVR box's MENU (or the list of recorded shows from it's DVR function). My Samsung Remote does not have a "voice" funct5ion, so I can;t simply say "Show List". Is there a button (or sets of buttons) I can push to show the list of recorded shows?
Wonderful video, so so well explained…. But what happen when the Samsung remote does not work as universal remote. Can you make a video about it? Sometimes when one is making that, the remote does not change the channel up and down and the process is frustrating.
Good question, I would program the remote again, and check for a software update on the TV then see if it works. This does not always work perfectly with every cable or satellite box. So if that continues then you sometimes just have to live with it.
Thank you so much! This video was very helpful to us "technically challenged" Boomers! LOL We bought a new Samsung Smart TV (smarter than we are) and was having trouble connecting it to DirecTV and the Samsung remote. I'm so glad we found your channel. Thanks Again! :)
Interesting and informative. HOWEVER what about controlling the home theater receiver? Also Samsung do not have the remote control volume available on sound out to stereo. EG: Optical is fixed
There would be two ways for home theater control. 1) Generally anymore most people would have a receiver or soundbar with HDMI CEC control. (Or a HDMI port that was labeled ARC). If you use that feature the remote does not need to be programmed to your audio device as the TV will control the audio device and volume. 2) At 1:45 instead of selecting cable/satellite box arrow to the right and select Home Theater system. This setup would be used if you have an older receiver that was hooked up with optical or maybe just rca audio cables. Optical output would be fixed, however if you get your samsung TV remote to program to your receiver using the home theater option the volume should control the receiver.
Hi, Just watched your video. I have a gen 8 4k Samsung. My remote is the same as yours. I'm having trouble pairing my Samsung remote to a Dish Network Joey. Any thoughts? My husbands Samsung tv remote is paired with the Dish main receiver and works great. But I can't get the Samsung remote and Joey to talk to each other.
Hello Disconnected Wife, try searching for your dish network joey box by the model number when performing this setup. Watch this video as a guide: ruclips.net/video/MsspXCfJZLk/видео.html One other note if your joey box (or any box) only has options for the remote to work via RF transmission & not infrared then I highly doubt this would work. To my knowledge the Samsung one remote is only infrared (line of sight) and not RF wireless. In this video the Tivo box is an infrared unit, therefore the remote is able to find the box code by searching for the model in the tv remote setup. See if this video helps, if it does not, try contacting Samsung or Dish directly and see what they say.
I’m having same prob I have a TiVo box it’s a Canadian Cogeco cable box and I can’t get mine to work I’ll retry it comes up Comcast don’t know why have been using the TiVo remote for cable thank you this work now I only have one remote
Any idea how to get the Samsung remote to power on/off my Spectrum cable box? It changes the channels AND works the volume. But it won’t power on or off the cable box
Great Video. I have similar setup with Samsung Q7 and Tivo Bolt. Is the One Remote controlling the Tivo by IR or by CEC? When I originally set up, I selected CableBox/Fios/Device not Found, the selected Tivo and it is controlling by IR, but my Tivo is in a cabinet. - Thanks!
In most cases the one remote is controlling the boxes via bluetooth, or IR. That is dependent on the box you have. It is not always perfect, but in most cases the remote will control your device.
Super helpful video, but the Samsung implementation of Anynet+CEC doesn't seem to work with Yamaha receivers. It will turn the receiver off with the TV, but not turn it back on. Still using two remotes..
That could be the case. There is not alot to change on the Cec in the tv settings. Check and make sure the tv and receiver are up to date in software. Yamaha support is 714-522-9105. They may offer a solution. If it is extremely important that it turns on, switch receiver brands, try Onkyo or Sony. There are times especially with different brand products where everything doesn't play nicely. Finally if you got a logitech harmony all in one remote, that would most likely do what you want. Hope that helps.
One Other note on that. In our shop we currently have a Samsung Q80 Series QLED and a Yamaha RXV485 Receiver. These units work perfectly fine together. I hooked up these units with the ARC HDMI inputs/outputs. In the TV Sound Menu you would change the sound output to Receiver HDMI instead of TV Speaker. You may also need to check that HDMI CEC is turned on in the TV and Yamaha Receiver menus.
Hi, I'm here because I guess in this most recent video you're going to read my comment. My question is, why does not my control work with the TV? (my TV is the same as yours but from your previous videos, the sony)
Hello, not sure I totally understand what your saying. If your Sony remote is not working with the Sony TV change batteries, or replace the Sony remote. Also unplug the Sony TV then plug it in again.
Yes, the channel button toggles up and down to change channels. If you press straight in on the channel button it will bring up the guide for most services. I have seen it work with spectrum boxes, and directv boxes, but I can't guarantee it will work with every box. On a side note if you push straight in the the volume button it will mute the TV.
I have a Shaw Arris cable box. The Samsung One Remote does not work with it, So 2 remotes. Big hassle, but even if it did work it sounds from the other comments that it would be tedious to use.
Yes, it will not work with all the boxes out there (same with any brand of TV). With the small samsung remote, it can be a pain to bring up certain functions of the box due to lack of buttons.
Hi Jordan, more than likely yes. We mount boxes behind the TV when we mount TVs on the wall, or with ir sensor kits we can place boxes in other cabinets away from the TV.
Hello there. I have Xiaomi Mi Box 4 and this device is not listed in the menu. There is only "MiBox" option however controller doesnt work with this option. In fact, I can control Xiaomi Mi Box with samsung universal controller anyway thanks to HDMI-CEC, however, always when I switched from another source to Xiaomi Mi box, it will switch correctly for 1-2 seconds to Xiaomi, then I will loose signal (like xiaomi box is not turned off even it is) until pressing any button on xiaomi controller. After that I can fully control xiaomi mi box with samsung controller. So I have to have also xiaomi controller just because of oressing one button when switching to xiaomi box. Any idea how to fix this? Thank you.
Hello, I'm sorry I can't. Other than making sure HDMI CEC is enabled in all your units I would not know. One other thing, is for the most part I can't offer support for any products that are not USA models. These products you are referring to are models not sold is USA, and unfortunately I have never seen these, nor there features. Manufacturers will change features and models by country.
I also have that problem but mi box is definitely a Usa product, idk what this guy is talking about. Umm to get my mi box working with remote, literally don't set it up. I have exactly the same issue as u so i tried every which what way n to jus use cec setting, don't do anything else. Yeah the tv will want u to hook it up but don't, trust me, it works
When saying numbers in the 100's instead of saying four hundred twenty seven or four twenty seven, try saying "channel four two seven". Usually that will work. Try it that way with all channels 100 and over. Sometimes this also needs to be done with channels from 10 and above. However it is not fool proof. That can vary and sometimes still not work based on the software xfinity (and others) uses for the boxes.
Reboot your box and TV. If that doesn't work, then watch this second video I made and search by model number. ruclips.net/video/MsspXCfJZLk/видео.html Not all boxes can work with the remote. You may just have to use the cable box remote if these still don't work.
Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone knows how to shorten the amount of time your smart hub appears on your Samsung tv or stop it from popping up when you exit from streaming?
Hello there, I can not pair my remote with any of my devices. For exaple my set top box... is it because my remote doesnt have that small red light on it?
You should be able to have channel numbers by, pressing the 123 button on the samsung one remote, (at the top of remote to the left of the microphone). When pressed a number pad will appear on the TV screen, then select the numbers you want for your channel and then select done.
How do you enter a specific channel number? Leave it to Samsung to make everything tedious/awkward, like an onscreen channel number selector when previously you can go to a specific channel with two to three quick number button presses. F'ing Samsung.
You can try hitting the 123 button at the top left of the remote. Sometimes (not always) that allows you to choose numbers that will appear on the TV screen. If that does not work, sometimes (not always) you can press and hold the microphone button at the top of the remote and say the channel you want. For example "Channel 5" Or "Watch channel 5" The commands may be a bit different, but that works at times.
Using bixby as the voice guidance, you can change inputs and load app, by holding down the mic button, and saying "netflix" or "HDMI 1" etc... Also saying "TV settings" will bring up the main settings menu. This is on a Q80T model.
@@FisherElectronics I’ve been using the Google assistant which is kind of useless with the TV. Guess I’ll have to try Bixby. The other problem I have is my remote used to work with Roku, but now that I have a Vizio sound bar t works with the sound bar, but no longer works with Roku! I’ve tried resetting it but doesn’t work. On top of that the voice search on my Roku remote no longer works. Ugh.
@@dean2663 You can try a few things. With the TV on press and hold the power button, the tv will turn off and reset and turn back on. When it turns back on let go of the power button. Under your devices in your menu delete the existing roku unit. Now go to the remote setup and try setting up the roku again. That may or may not work. Regarding the voice not working on the roku remote, unplug unit for 5 minutes or more. Plug it in and try, if it still has no voice replace the roku unit.
@@FisherElectronics Everything worked until I added the soundbar so I don’t think anything is wrong with the (Roku) remote. I’ll try the things you suggested. Thanks for the help!
