Eleven years and this is still as funny today as when I first saw it. I was in DDO tonight and another player showed up at the bank, wearing a blue robe; and this is the first thing that popped into my head. I began laughing and text one of my guild that Cedric just showed up at the bank. LOL
Edda's acting is impressive . . .the monologue has the audience totally entrenched. Her facial expressions are spot on. What a great opening & intro to the character.
I can't believe I've been hooked on this thing for almost 10 years. It ALWAYS comes up in conversation between the husband and I how this show really broke GROUND a decade ago, and really helped materialize D&D online, and as MORE than a "game around a table".
To me, it's "The Guild" for table top games and it delivers on every front you would expect from a world where the only limit is human imagination. Nice job guys. The main actress in this particular scene was fantastic.
Watched this series all the way through a couple of years ago, just starting to watch it through again. Because it is awesome, but also because COVID-19 and boredom etc. Knowing this characters backstory and where she comes from make this scene even funnier and helps to explain some of the rage she feels towards Wizards.
I'm really enjoying this show. I've watched the first few episodes, but I thought I'd come back and comment on the first one. Edda is definitely my favorite character.
@mightyjoanna .... OMG, I didn't realise who you were, but just checked your RUclips page! Joanna Gaskell! The Barbarian! Awesome! An honour to get a reply from you, good work on this show, I wish you the best *hugs*
After the audition, I was curious to see when this episode would come into play. So very amusing. Cedric came out just as I pictured him! Great work, guys!
This is funny. I've never seen Elven barbarians though. In my campaign world (pushes glasses up nose), elves are refined and beyond barbarism and into magic and beauty...
Actually, Forgotten Realms is part of the D&D world, the modual was originally written by Ed Greenwood, then made popular by R.A. Salvator and his "Drizzt" characters. But i'll admit, since playing from '73 this is the first time i've ever seen a barbarian with elf ears, lol.
@dragonclam1 We always knew they'd come together in a quest, but yes, the first two episodes were pretty much "origin stories." The first four episodes were released slightly ahead of the rest of the season, and were meant to sit together as a set - sort of like a pilot of TV length. Then the story really sets in in Episode 5. :) Thanks for asking!
@optionaldelusion Hey, we can get angry about stuff! Like... a badly poured beer, or when the polar bears dig up the veggie garden, or when our hockey team loses.
@mightyjoanna I thought it was fantastic. I was hoping for a bit of swordplay and some development to the characters, and I got both. I can't wait to see if you really do have a dragon in season 2. :D Thanks for the awesome show, and here's to another season and beyond!
I was kinda almost on his side until he showed up. I mean the whole namecalling/I can change thing has some serious emotional-abuse red flags. Then, he showed up and... yeah, Edda, you can do better. I'm currently unattached.
@mightyjoanna .... wow, that's a pretty clairvoyant statement, as your comment is dated from 3 months ago, and you mention Canadians getting angry when their hockey team loses ... you predicted (or planned, haha) the recent Vancouver riots!
I watched it again and I'm wondering how they ever got together in the first place. Was he simply using her to get her 150gp for new robes? Seems unlikely if he has a new river-front tower. If not money, or common interests, or anything.... why did they get together?
Clearly you are not the audience. Every joke in this has a point and makes me remember something different from playing D&D with my friends. If they cut it, it wouldn't be as good. Cut your comment down to 3 letters and it will be worth reading.
so ridiculous that a channel like this that actually puts time and effort into creating great content gets a few thousand subs. Then you get a whole bunch of boring kids that play call of duty while giving their opinion on bullshit, and they get millions of views... some things make no sense to me.
Yes! female elf barbarian! Edda you are my hero!!!! OK, I am 240 lb muscle and ugly. I can throw a fully loaded Chevrolet 350 motor more than 10 meters. Burt I would never risk a fight from the strong Edda I AM THE MIGHTY CHABUNGA!!!!!

Oh wow. It is almost five years old by now, and I still love it! I just went back to Season 1, and recommended it to several of my gamer friends.
To me, it's "The Guild" for table top games and it delivers on every front you would expect from a world where the only limit is human imagination. Nice job guys. The main actress in this particular scene was fantastic.

It all comes full circle in the end.
Edda's ears play so beautifully against her eyebrows! Genius!
Very well done. Shows well the pitfalls of interparty romance.
Joanna Gaskell (Edda) is adorable! I declare it here!
I'm really enjoying this show. I've watched the first few episodes, but I thought I'd come back and comment on the first one. Edda is definitely my favorite character.
Haha! Yes! I've finally found this series again! I've been looking for ages!
@pauseTV *blush!* I'm glad you're liking the show! Thanks for commenting, too. Tell your friends about us! :)
She looked really cool. Made me sad that no one ever plays an elf barbarian because of the stat synergy, or rather the lack of stat synergy.
An Elf Barbarian? Dude, that is cool as hell.
Yeah totally bro ;)
+Thamuze Ulfrsson Yup, she quickly grew to be my favorite character during the series. Just you wait, she's the best.
Oh my... I have finally found my way back! Hell, I almost started to think that I had just imagined this series! :)
Let the binge watch, begin!
It was all a dream!!! ooooooooooh In fact you're still dreaming!!!!!
@mightyjoanna .... OMG, I didn't realise who you were, but just checked your RUclips page! Joanna Gaskell!
The Barbarian! Awesome!

Cedric may not need to come out of the closet, but he sure needs to come out of the water closet.
wizard is git! slay the pampered one!
And done in your back yard! FANTASTIC!
Hey guys I love your production and greatly admire your work! Yay Canadians!
This is great! I hope season two happens.... very very soon!
My line was "Fudge muffins" actually!
Man that wizard was stuck up.
Now Paladins on the other hand are always dependable.
Wow, I feel like I've found the new "Friends".

OK.
Seriously though, you guys rock!
I love this series so much been look everywhere for it.
Thanks for watching!
@polkadotpig thanks! the intro was easy, we just told Edda and Fernando there would be free food and they showed up
Dear Bob, its been a few years now...
When are we gonna see seasons 4 thru 99....??
I'm not getting any younger ya know...
Sadly Jim, the ring has been lost, and the fellowship broken.
This is funny. I've never seen Elven barbarians though. In my campaign world (pushes glasses up nose), elves are refined and beyond barbarism and into magic and beauty...
That car sound in the background is funny
So happy to see something like this.
Love d20 fantasy roleplaying games.
All the best.
And proud! :)
Love what you guys do! And that you work with other online folks such as the ones from The Gamers. Oooohh.. How about a crossover episode!?!
?

Getting your cat familiar to read it for me...
UGH! How am I just coming this now?
... this music is pretty darn good.
A female elf barbarian. Dream wife!
No, just no. I mean really no.
Epic. Just epic.
SODING FINALLY I FOUND THIS CHANNEL AFTER LOOKING THROUGH MY SUBS ALL NIGHT
+Nightfire734 you have arrived.
I knew he wasn't in there, but when he actually showed up.... XD
"These boots were made for style, not functionality." Haha, great line. =D
@optionaldelusion Hey, we can get angry about stuff! Like... a badly poured beer, or when the polar bears dig up the veggie garden, or when our hockey team loses.
I loved the show
Damn this is a great idea. You done good.
Love it. Very funny. Cheers!
its the wizard's spell think of it as an extra eye for him.
Zombie Orpheus has it all.... Journey quest, gamers 1, gamers 2, gamers 3 etc
This reminds me of the characters 2 of my friends usually make...they are engaged now in real life!
@mightyjoanna I thought it was fantastic. I was hoping for a bit of swordplay and some development to the characters, and I got both. I can't wait to see if you really do have a dragon in season 2. :D Thanks for the awesome show, and here's to another season and beyond!

WingedWyrm you had me going to the end :)
Jesus. It's almost been 10 years
Never thought I'd hear a barbarian with a Canadian accent
Not yet! That's a project we're working on right now.
Amazing!
Great humor.
so funny!! great job!!
this movie certainly needs multilanguage subs
@dragonclam1 Glad you found your way over! :)
OUT STANDING.
THE REV.
Yep!
I just found this series. Is it still going or did it finish?
@shavedchimpanzee Did you make it to the end? What did you think of the finale?
i constantly hear foot steps in the background?
What subclasses are all the characters supposed to be anyway?
lol, this is incredibly awesome.
But, he's so style-conscious! Though, new to the series as I am, I have yet to form a firm opinion on this one.
Next time, on the young and the restless
Whats with the cutaways to the fish eye?
Wizard eye spell
Screw magic, BARBARIANS FOREVER!!!!!
@mightyjoanna .... wow, that's a pretty clairvoyant statement, as your comment is dated from 3 months ago, and you mention Canadians getting angry when their hockey team loses ... you predicted (or planned, haha) the recent Vancouver riots!
@GDelmy Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, Cedric is a pompous douchebag with a cat. We all know one.
Laughing myself silly!
I watched it again and I'm wondering how they ever got together in the first place. Was he simply using her to get her 150gp for new robes? Seems unlikely if he has a new river-front tower. If not money, or common interests, or anything.... why did they get together?
Edda has a back story if you follow the full series. It is possible she was not always a barbarian.
Clearly you are not the audience. Every joke in this has a point and makes me remember something different from playing D&D with my friends. If they cut it, it wouldn't be as good. Cut your comment down to 3 letters and it will be worth reading.
What's a budgie?
From the beginning it looks like something from Forgotten realms and Dungeons&Dragons but I'm not sure. Futher investigetion is required :D
This elf sounds Canadian...
+kalajel i think you mean Canadians have Elf accents.
150 gold for a robe? What the hell kind of enchantments are on that thing?
@pauseTV Didn't you know? Canadians can also PREDICT THE FUTURE!! Moohahaha.
You know, I wouldn't give her up...
never gonna make her cry?
@Phasefirefilms ... I have two cats... does that have the potential to exponentially increase my douchebaggary, should I indulge in it?
Awwwwwwwww shes cute.
Are these Canadians?
wouldn't run around?
@Potted Rodent
I thought it was a"boot" ...hmm, she must be German, then.
Wow, I'm surprised she didn't dump him looooong before he dumped her!
I love topless robot!
so ridiculous that a channel like this that actually puts time and effort into creating great content gets a few thousand subs. Then you get a whole bunch of boring kids that play call of duty while giving their opinion on bullshit, and they get millions of views... some things make no sense to me.
Matt Odlum thanks!!!
wouldent let her down?
WOAH ROOOFL IT'S GREAT!!! XDDD
Yes! female elf barbarian!
Edda you are my hero!!!!
OK, I am 240 lb muscle and ugly. I can throw a fully loaded Chevrolet 350 motor more than 10 meters.
Burt I would never risk a fight from the strong Edda
I AM THE MIGHTY CHABUNGA!!!!!
lmao. yeah, those mouse motors make great boat anchors in deep water
When did Wizards get all "metro-sexual"?
and desert her?
Budgie =) It's a parrot.
By Krum's beard, Edda, you can do better than the fancy git.
She likes to talk a"boat" things I hear.
So, barbarian elves have canadian accents?
That's not a Canadian exclusive accent.
It's more of a North Eastern accent. Now if she were to say 'Eh' a few times.
wood elf accent
Edda is MAD HOT!
