Oh! Good. When all Vlogmases end, it feels like the day all the decorations are packed away. Bleak. But I'll look forward to J-V w/ Yarnmugs. Thank you, Sarah. Once upon a time I dreaded the long month of January. Now I accept that the days and months all speed by. Whether it is December or June, the next May is never that far away. I will be watching this space.
Hi Marsha. Thanks for watching. Yes I think there are a variety of reasons people struggle with certain times of the year. We have to find our own way of enjoying every month 😊
Happy New Year 🥳 It’s lovely to hear you’re doing January vlogs. It will help get me through the long days of Winter. I am finishing off a colourwork cowl and some Christmas socks, then I’ll be able to start a new project. ☺️❤️
I’ve cast on a Habitation Throw using an old Sherry Iris yarn advent, Gridlines sweater using Wonderland Walk colourway from Lay family yarns and I’m just knitting a fish for a yarn bombing event I’m involved in in my town in the summer 🤗 Lovely calm vlog, Sarah 🙏
Oooh lovely, looking forward to this series ❤❤ I had to laugh at the end when I saw the darts on your tv… my partner is out in the lounge watching the darts right now 😂
Great thoughts on the exercising! I’m doing Runstreak for the same reason, to lower the threshold of getting out for a run. 1.6 miles can always be squeezed in/squeezed out, and I can feel happy with it. Something is better than nothing I tell myself 😊 Cheering for you! 🙌🏃♀️➡️
Happy New Year, Sarah. So glad Christmas is over, I find it too commercialised and goes on forever, I dread it! Spring is my favourite time of year, when I was born. Well done with your exercise and thinking of the future, so important, it will pay off. Having the right mindset, which you have, you will meet all your goals, just take it steady. I use Nordic walking poles which help with posture and propel me forward! with arthritic knees, they are a great help. I’m waiting for a new knitting project book to arrive and start my various projects after all the gift knitting! X💕
Hi Sarah I am delighted that you are going to continue with vlogs for January. I have enjoyed watching. I love to have a project notebook and do have one to record what I am doing but one for each year sounds great. I too enjoy the prospect of new starts and making one or two changes for the new year. Thank you for your continuing inspiration. Sandra

So glad to see you again Sarah ❤. Also glad that you have decided to do January vlogs, that will make my days for sure!! 👏. Beautiful yarn for your socks. Your weather looks great to me, as we are all suffering from the heat over here in Western Australia! Cheers for now, 😍💕👏❤️🤗🥰
I have definitely taken inspiration from you & Ali, I have started my daily walks, I would like to walk 1000 miles in 2025 but as long as I walk everyday I will take that as a win, your vlogs are so great & to have them through January is such a bonus, happy new year ❤
HNY Sarah, I’ve cast on a cable knit hat for a baby, I’m not so great at knitting and have restarted the project three times already so am going to concentrate on it tomorrow afternoon! I look forward to your vlogs and I love your ideas on running and walking, it doesn’t seem as overwhelming - thanks for all the work you put into your vlogs especially given you have a busy job etc xxx
I started doing a fast walk 20 min in the morning a year ago, before getting ready for work. But I gave myself 1 day off a week. And I did it! My knees can't handle running but walking was just as good😊. I just finished Christmas cast on socks and starting a pair tonight with colorwork Chickens😂. Happy New Year! Thanks for doing Jan Vlogs❤
Sarah, thank you for your vlog~. Your cheese veg plates look so delicious! Just enuf indulgence with a healthy dose of veg! Keep on keeping on, you are an inspiration!
Really glad you’re doing January vlogs. I really like January too but I do like Christmas! Good for you with the new goals etc. My family left yesterday so I’m still getting over that - practically and emotionally, they live five hours away. See you tomorrow xx
I’m excited to have January vlogs! I like to to the same with Couch to 5K as far as backing up to previous weeks if necessary! I hope to do the walk 1000 miles too, thanks to Ali and now you :) Take care, Erika
Morning Sarah, it's lovely to see you will be doing January vlogs, I really struggle with this month. I've been doing two or three 15 minutes walks around my neighbourhood every day for a couple of years now and definitely feel out of kilter when I don't do it, usually only when it's very windy as I walk under lots of old trees or it's icy. The mental benefits, as well as physical are great. I don't consistently use a note book for my knitting and crochet, but I should as I often put projects away and then lose track as to where I was when I get them out again!
Hi Elaine. Thinking of you. Hope your January is less of a struggle this year. You’re an inspiration with your regular exercise. Hope I can keep it up 😊
Yay January vlogs!! Love, love this. I'm totally inspired to get my movement goal more defined, and I really hope I can stick with it. I like the weekly total goal- I think I'm going to start with minutes per week rather than distance for the first quarter. I do love your little crochet/knit book. I keep my notes in ravelry so that I can always access it on my phone. I find I go back to previous project info often - it is so helpful. Since I mostly crochet now, I don't need a row counter, but I sure did when I knit. I've got two different crochet baby blankets on the go to start the year. I cast the second one on today but it is looking a bit too large so I may frog it and go smaller tomorrow. I don't mind that- it's all part of the process. Really looking forward to following along this month Sarah! Thank you for doing them and sharing your thoughts with us- it is much appreciated! ❤
Happy New Year Sarah. Thank you for your January vlogs, I don’t like the ‘ary’ months, January, February. I suffer with SAD but going outside just for ten minutes a day really helps me. I’m a knitter, and I love seeing your yarn and projects. I’ve started a ‘Sophie’ scarf and for the first time I have a project book that was given to me for Christmas, I’m really looking forward to using it. Take care, you just made January better. xx
Happy New Year Sarah. I love your daily blogs so very glad you’ve decided to do them during January. I enjoy Christmas but also like the fresh start of January 1st. The decorations are all taken down on New Year’s Eve in readiness. New diaries, calendars, bulletin journals, etc all ready to be written in. I’ve got several projects carried over from 2024 and am also joining in with the Kitchen Sink Shop Temperature Dishcloth KAL. X
I like January too Sarah, though it seems to go more quickly than any other month for me.One of our grandsons was born on New Years Day and we celebrated his 15th birtday yesterday.Your January vlogs are a lovely surprise.❤
I started the 30th on the 12 Days of Knitmas MKAL wrap. It helps me recover from the Christmas celebration and ease into the new year. I still print most of my patterns and make my notes there. Your flowers are lovely! Kudos for getting back into the running.
Happy New Year Sarah. I am so glad you are doing this. First because I love a daily vlog and yours is so pleasant and calming to listen to. I will be looking forward to seeing you everyday, Secondly, I really need assistance with organization and motivation in my life so I am going to follow along with you : ). Have a wonderful January!
Happy New Year Sarah 🤩 , i am very similar to you in many ways it's either all or nothing no happy medium 😊 I have definitely become a couch potato 🤭 this time last year I had stage 1 cancer of the right lung operation to remove half the lung in the February, all good caught early very lucky ❤ buuuut I've become less caring for myself 😏 this year it will change a New me Thank You to You and your January vlog you have so inspired me to get off the couch and Move ........ I have been less kind to myself for a long long time , my Hubby and my Daughter have tried to get me moving but it has to start with me sooooo here we gooooo ! Watch this space ❤ xx
Hi Jenny. Happy new year. Thanks for sharing your story. You are right and only we can decide to move or make a change. Remember you deserve to look after you. Hope a little movement makes a difference to how you feel x 😊
Happy New Year Sarah! So great you are doing January vlogs. My husband and I walk every day and really feel the benefit from it. Sadly we are well past running these days but a good blast of fresh air and exercise works wonders for us. We live near the beach so it’s extra “fresh” some days! I usually log my knitting and spinning on line but a little notebook might be more fun this year! Take care x
This vlog was a lovely surprise. I’m trying to incorporate daily movement and I feel like your vlogs will encourage me to do this through January. I’ve also been interested in keeping a crafting notebook but didn’t know what to include. Thank you!
Hi Emily. Thanks for watching. Good luck with your daily movement. My crafty notebook includes any info that would help me if I were to make a project again 😊
Hi Sara, really happy that you are doing this. I enjoy goal setting, starting new journals etc in January and don't really know anyone else that does. Really interested to watch your vlogs ❤
Awesome January vlogs! And how wonderful you have made a focus to stay healthy and keep moving! I turn 60 tomorrow I just can’t phantom it really lol I have been walking daily for months but here in Ohio it’s freezing so I need to incorporate my treadmill more I’m a outside walker too but we must do what we need too…I also joined yoga and Pilates about 9 mo this ago and I absolutely love it I go at least 4 times a week,… I look forward to following you through your journey! I’m proud of you for sharing you’re doing awesome! Hugs
Hi Rhonda. Happy birthday for tomorrow. I’m only a few years behind you. Where does the time go! Great to hear you are feeling the benefits of daily exercise. You are an inspiration to me. Glad we have a treadmill for those very cold days 😊
@ Aw well you look great! It sure goes fast doesn’t it? Enjoy and I love all you knitting and sewing…I’m a fiber artist I hook rugs with wool, I cross stitch, sew appliqué with wool, crochet and I’m taking classes in a week to learn to knit I’m so excited I’ve always wanted to knit 🧶
Happy new year Sarah, I hope you and your family have had a lovely Christmas. Thank you for doing vlogs in January, I’m looking forward to watching what you get up to. My dogs are getting older now so don’t walk as much so I started to do a walk for me each day as well as walk them. It’s a totally different thing walking without them, strange sometimes but I can walk faster and further and enjoy going to areas where I wouldn’t take them. I managed to almost finish one sock, just need to Kitchener the toe then I can cast on the next one, I’ve then the hot water bottle cover to finish and about fifteen pages of my book to finish before starting anything new. The Salt Path is going to be my next read. Looking forward to watching, take care😊
Hi Jackie. Happy new year. Sounds like we have similar exercise and crafty goals. Hope you enjoy the Salt Path. I was a little bored but interested in the story and looking forward to the film 😊
Happy New Year! I cast on a Plant Lady Top in a lovely red yarn for my January 1st cast on. Long, long rounds -- 312 stitches! -- but such a nice pattern. I also started two cross stitch projects today. I have 1 other knit project scheduled to start in January and 4 other cross stitch projects. Busy month craft-wise! I am going to do the 1000 mile/1610 km challenge this year as well. I got my kms in today on Day 1. Yay! Good luck with your running. You're doing so well!!!!
@@yarnmugspodcast9123 I would love to do the walking challenge together. What fun! I got my kms in today as well. On a treadmill because it was -17C outside. Yikes!
Oh, how wonderful! I love January most years, but this year I am really struggling. I've made a promise to myself that I will take one-hour lunch breaks at work each day (I usually don't stop for lunch) to knit. I need to create positive space at work and spending time with you each day will certainly make me feel better! I saw the trailer for The Salt Path film. I want to read the book before I view it. I just finished the audio of Wintering by Katharine May, but I think I'll go out and pick up a paper copy today so I can mark it up. I really needed to hear from her this year, and I am hoping she writes about the next seasons that are pressing on my mind - aging/hibernating, and death/sleeping. I am setting up a new work-knitting project/bag (sweater) today, as well as a new commute-knitting project bag (socks).
Hi Sherie. Sorry to hear you are struggling. Best wishes to you. I’m with you on trying to make sure I take a lunch break. Let’s promise to both do this. I’m looking forward to the Salt Path film. I was a little bored with the book. Wintering sounds interesting 😊
I do use a notebook to keep track of my knitting projects. I list the yarn, needle size, pattern, when I started and when I finished. I make a circle mark for each row so that if I choose to make it again I can duplicate it. I also keep track of increases, decreases and ribbing rows etc. that way my socks and sleeves always match. Since I have been knitting since I was 8 and garments since I was 15 this has been a steady practice and I have many many notebooks filled. This year I will add pictures after purchasing a sprocket! I am excited about that addition. This old bird is never too old to up my game!!! I also struggle with being too sedentary and try to walk 6 days a week but this winter it has been so so cold that it is challenging. Thank you for the January blogs, you are the best❤❤❤
It is a instant photo printer that links to your smartphone or tablet that produces glossy sticky backed photos. You can use the small 2 x 3 photos as is or remove the backing to use as a sticker. I LOVE it. The app also has filters and other gadgets too. I bought a refurbished one and am not disappointed. I have started putting photos of my projects in my daily journal.
Happy New Year Sarah, so lovely that you are continuing your vlogs and helping us to get motivated in all directions, exercise, food and crafting. I do not like New Year Resolutions as they always fail, but recently heard someone say they make Intentions for the year which seems so much more sensible. I love your Craft record book and am going to start one with my January cast on, the Felix Cardigan. As for the Salt Path that is a really motivation read and the sequel is just as good. I believe they have made it into a film now.
Well that was a lovely surprise when I came home from work today! Thank you for doing January vlogs. I'm very much all or nothing too, and previously I've given up too easily if I don't keep up with something. I'm going to join you with the intention to walk more, especially during my working day when I'm mostly sitting at my desk. Have you enjoyed the Salt Path? I absolutely loved it and have recently re-read for the second time. Happy New Year Sarah 😊
Hi Caroline. Let’s keep each other motivated with more movement. I was a little bored of the Salt Path film. Really wanted to enjoy it. Will look forward to the film 😊
Happy New Year, I too like the month of January, new things to plan, and enjoy, it is a nice month to slowly get into the new year, after the hectic month of December.
How lovely to have your company through January! I am already feeling gently encouraged by you sharing your thoughts- thank you! I’ve just cast on a new pair of socks which will be a birthday present for my daughter later this month.
Well done with your exercise Sarah, and thank you for doing January vlogs. I find exercise has a fantastic impact on my brain, I feel terrific once I’ve done it. My motto is just keep moving. Cheers Chris 👏🇦🇺.
Hi Sarah, well done for continuing to do the running. Glad you are doing January vlogs. I do have a few notebooks for my crochet and knitting, I’m not as organised as you though
Oooo January vlogs, so so Happy! Finishing my advent Just Feel Festive shawl (with Greenlambkin yarns, Enchanted Forest). Then joining a CAL on the 10th, Mandala Blanket Crochet Along with Hooked on Homemade Happiness (using stash). One of my goals this year is to Read 25mins every day (with Gretchen Rubin), I have so many books I want to read. I think I will make a list and go top to bottom for the year. Fitness goals is just to move more!! Happy New Year to you and yours. 😊🌻💕🦘
Sarah, thank you so much for doing a January vlog! It is much needed after all the beautiful Vlogmases! I love your ideas about getting active and as a knitter and crocheter, I love your idea of keeping a little notebook for all my project details. I have started my second Bisbis beret with some deep stash (yay!). I'm also knitting a scarf in the Feather and Fan pattern again using deep stash. I look forward to seeing how everyone is beginning the new year!
Ohhh!!! This is going to be a great way to spend January! Thank you Sarah!! I'm looking forward to your encouragement to get off the couch and get moving!! Happy New Year to you and yours!
I did a Christmas cast on - the Leaflette scarf. Loving it but out of practice for lace knitting. Sometimes 4 rows forward and then 4 backwards but all good. Using up some of my stash.
I use Ravelry and I made a Google sheet to record all my craft projects . I do embroidery and slow stitching which is my preferred craft. I don't manage to do do a lot of knitting projects but I do them ay my knit and natter group. I cannot crochet even though I've been shown how to do it. I have bought a notebook so I may record my future craft projects in that. I don't record details of yarn or needles but that is a good idea, that is on my Ravelry project pages. What I do when I start a knitting project is I copy the instructions into a word document and I add grid box charts for each row that I knit. I then print off the chart and use that whilst I'm knitting. I need to break the instructions down. I managed to complete the 1000 miles challenge this year which was a surprise as I don't walk every day as I need to have rest days in order not to aggravate my Achilles as it took 12 months to heal a couple of years ago. What I do is I record the miles completed on my Fitbit at the end of everyday even days when I've not been for specific walks - even just pottering around the house adds up to a couple of miles. I've joined a Facebook group for the 1000 miles challenge and they say do the challenge any way. Some members have long term health issues but they still manage to complete some walks. If I've had a couple of days where I've not moved much I will make an effort on the next day to go for a walk. Good luck ❤❤
Happy New Year to you and yours (Alfie). It is hard to keep motivated on walks when the weather is so hot here in Queensland, Australia but I find early in the morning is the best. It is great to see you're continuing with your running and walking. Lovely to have your company this month. 🥰
Oh Sarah what a lovely surprise to find out you will be doing January Vlogs - you have made my day!! You are encouraging me to try and get out for a walk more often - not always easy in our Canadian winter but as you said 5 mins walk each day is better than nothing !
This was very encouraging on how to get motivated with some form of exercise. I’m old enough to be your mum, but as my husband’s mobility is not so good now I tend to put off going on even short walks on my own. However weather permitting I’m really going to try. I’ve just cast on the Dust of Snow Wrap using my advents and also trying to finish my Daft Days Cardigan, whilst eating too many chocolates 😂
Happy New Year! How lovely knowing we have a month of vlogs to look forward to. I hope you don't mind my asking, I am a knitter but more so crochet is my passion. I love seeing all the gorgeous socks you make. I really would love to start knitting my own but I am just not sure where to start..... Would you be able to recommend a good starting pattern??? Hope you dont mind me asking 😊
Hi Tracey. Happy new year to you and thanks for your kind words. I would highly recommend Sandra Paul’s first sock pattern. www.cherryheart.co.uk/2016/06/my-first-socks.html?m=1 😊
What a wonderful gift you’re giving us this month! Thank you, Sarah!
Hi Angie. Thanks for watching and your kind words 😊

Hi Joan. Bet you could do with some of our rain. It’s minus degrees this morning 😊
You’ve inspired me Sarah! I’m going to try for 10 miles a week. Started today with my first 3 miles!
Hi and thanks for watching. Yay on your first three miles 😊
Yay, January vlogs! This one was lovely. I use ravelry to track projects but I like your idea of using a new book each year.
Hi Shelly. Thanks for watching. I love a notepad. Have never been able to maintain my ravelry 😊
I have definitely taken inspiration from you & Ali, I have started my daily walks, I would like to walk 1000 miles in 2025 but as long as I walk everyday I will take that as a win, your vlogs are so great & to have them through January is such a bonus, happy new year ❤

Hi Patti. Thanks for your kind words. Last picky plate of the season 😊
Really glad you’re doing January vlogs. I really like January too but I do like Christmas! Good for you with the new goals etc. My family left yesterday so I’m still getting over that - practically and emotionally, they live five hours away. See you tomorrow xx

Take care x
Hi Heather. Oh a walk near the beach sounds wonderful. Walking is so beneficial too. Wish I could get my husband out with me 😊
Love your vlogs thanks very much
Hi and thanks for watching 😊
This vlog was a lovely surprise. I’m trying to incorporate daily movement and I feel like your vlogs will encourage me to do this through January. I’ve also been interested in keeping a crafting notebook but didn’t know what to include. Thank you!
Hi Emily. Thanks for watching. Good luck with your daily movement. My crafty notebook includes any info that would help me if I were to make a project again 😊
Hi Sara, really happy that you are doing this. I enjoy goal setting, starting new journals etc in January and don't really know anyone else that does. Really interested to watch your vlogs ❤
Hi Angela. Thanks for watching. Hope I can share some of the simple things I do to enjoy my days 😊
Hi Jane. Wow! You are busy with your crafting. Yay let’s do the 1000 walking challenge together. Well done getting day one done 😊
@@yarnmugspodcast9123 Thank you dear Sarah. I look forward to our mutual commitment and time "together". xoxo
Excited to know you are doing January posts!! I received a project notebook and looking forward to using it!
Hi Darlene. Enjoy your crafty notebook. I couldn’t manage without mine 😊
Hi Victoria. Yes I include all those details in my crafty notebook too. What’s a sprocket? 😊
Hi Susan. Thanks for your kind words. Looking forward to seeing the Salt Path film 😊
Hi Susan. Yes I love making plans and setting goals 😊
How lovely to have your company through January! I am already feeling gently encouraged by you sharing your thoughts- thank you! I’ve just cast on a new pair of socks which will be a birthday present for my daughter later this month.
Hi Helen. Thanks for watching. Happy sock knitting 😊
Hi Sarah, the walk outside gave you lovely rosy cheeks. Fantastic that you are doing January blogs.
Hi and thanks for watching. Yes I thought I looked so happy in that bit of the video 😊
January vlogs? Thank you! What a pleasant surprise.
Hi and thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy 😊
Yay for January vlogs! ❤
Hi kami. Thanks for watching. Hope you enjoy my vlogs 😊
Well done with your exercise Sarah, and thank you for doing January vlogs. I find exercise has a fantastic impact on my brain, I feel terrific once I’ve done it. My motto is just keep moving. Cheers Chris 👏🇦🇺.
Hi Chris. Yes that needs to be my motto too. Determined to move daily 😊
Hi Sarah, well done for continuing to do the running. Glad you are doing January vlogs. I do have a few notebooks for my crochet and knitting, I’m not as organised as you though
Hi Val. Thanks for watching. Hope I can remain motivated with my daily exercise 😊
Hi Tiffany. Thanks for sharing your goals. Sound great. Will share my reading goals tomorrow. Your projects sound lovely too 😊
Hello, Sarah! Lovely to see you…just received a standing, adjustable magnifying glass from Amazon. Planning to see if it helps my sock knitting…
Hi Vicki. Ooh magnifying thing sounds good 😊
😀💕xx happy new year Sarah
Happy new year Sue 😊
Sarah, thank you so much for doing a January vlog! It is much needed after all the beautiful Vlogmases! I love your ideas about getting active and as a knitter and crocheter, I love your idea of keeping a little notebook for all my project details. I have started my second Bisbis beret with some deep stash (yay!). I'm also knitting a scarf in the Feather and Fan pattern again using deep stash. I look forward to seeing how everyone is beginning the new year!
Hi Diane. Enjoy your deep stash projects. Sound lovely. Couldn’t manage without my crafty notebook 😊
Ohhh!!! This is going to be a great way to spend January! Thank you Sarah!! I'm looking forward to your encouragement to get off the couch and get moving!! Happy New Year to you and yours!
Hi Penny. Thanks for watching. Hope you get to move and enjoy it too 😊
You’ve motivated me to get out and walk thanks Sarah, I need the motivation 😊
Hi Cheryl. Thanks for watching. Hopefully we can all motivate each other throughout January 😊
Thanks for doing January vlogs. I always feel a bit bereft after the masses of Vlogmases! ETA - your picky plate looks delicious!
Hi Joanne. Yes that’s the last picky plate of the season. Hope you enjoy my January vlogs 😊
I did a Christmas cast on - the Leaflette scarf. Loving it but out of practice for lace knitting. Sometimes 4 rows forward and then 4 backwards but all good. Using up some of my stash.
Hi Rosslee. Enjoy using your stash. Sounds a lovely project 😊
Hi and thanks for your lovely comment. Huge congratulations on your 1000 mile challenge. What an inspiration. Hope I can do it this year 😊
@yarnmugspodcast9123 Thank you for your kind reply 😍❤️
Happy New Year to you and yours (Alfie). It is hard to keep motivated on walks when the weather is so hot here in Queensland, Australia but I find early in the morning is the best. It is great to see you're continuing with your running and walking. Lovely to have your company this month. 🥰
Hi Maria. Yes I imagine early morning walks are more bearable in the hot weather 😊
Happy New Year Sarah.xxxx
Happy new year Fiona 😊
Was so glad to see this vlog. I started a new project today - a sweater for my dog.
Hi Susan. Ah! Enjoy your dog sweater 😊
Oh Sarah what a lovely surprise to find out you will be doing January Vlogs - you have made my day!! You are encouraging me to try and get out for a walk more often - not always easy in our Canadian winter but as you said 5 mins walk each day is better than nothing !
Hi Teresa. Thanks for your kind words. Yes 5 mins is definitely better than no movement. Wrap up warm 😊
Hi Penny. It’s important you get some time for you too. How did you find the daft days cardi? Enjoy your advent project 😊
@ The cardi has been hard going but I’m on the first sleeve now so I want to finish it. I know Becky from Back to Blighty started it and frogged it 😊
Happy New year Sarah 😊
Happy new year Janice 😊
January vlog! Great!
Hi and thank you for watching 😊
You made a nice picking plate for your lunch...was that cranberry sauce on it by the cheese??
Hi Shelley. Thanks for watching. It was some amazing chilli jam 😊

@yarnmugspodcast9123 thank you so much 🥰
