    I played Efren in 2017; the game was the best three out of five in nine ball. Of course he beat me and I enjoyed it. - - - If you are ever in the Huntsville Alabama area just stop by Steve's Cue and Grill - - - as you walk in you will see a picture of Efren and I on the left just outside the entrance of my cue repair shop - - - I'm there every week, if I'm not in my shop just walk up to the bar and look to your right - - - I am normally setting at the first table having coffee or unsweetened tea if I am not teaching someone how to shoot pool - - - if you shoot pool, since I own all the Diamond pool tables in the bar, the table time will be on me and I will let you break!

    Earl and many others were fortunate that Efrem had casino/chess addiction that would keep up all night to then play tournaments but when he was well rested he was untouchable.. only player that could make Earl choke and Efrem was the reason Earl started wearing all that corrective equipment

    It was said Efrem had a weakness in his break maybe but one weakness people didn't notice was his draw shot especially from far but he it up with his rare ability to make difficult shots to get out anyway. A thing of beauty to watch.. every so often in history there come a talent that was born for or hers profession Efrem was that for pool who else? Keith MeCready but liquor etc got to him early..early when sober pure genius..how do I know? I was a child prodigy but had to give it up for school then family. Still now at 71 when I play people wonder how I make certain shots lol it just came easy after daily hours of playing when I was a kid

    Watching Efren is like watching a master at work, always a joy, and an education. It´s just incredible how someone from his lowly background, with an average break, no power draw, a cheap cue, and no gloves or jump cue can make the game of pool seem so beautiful and mesmerising. Like Roger Federer in tennis Efren plays the game the way it´s meant to be played, with touch and subtlety, using the angles to set and escape safeties. I always thought jumping your way out of snookers is just cheating.

  • @Downecker

    I love playing 8-ball, straight pool. I'm 75 and I love the game. I don't want to play 9- ball. There's too much luck involved. I could snooker the other player 3 times and win. Nah , 9-ball don't impress me!😂

    As usual, by game 7 Strickland is already acting impetuous, waving his hand in disgust as the break doesn't go his way. He'll be looking for someone in the audience who sneezes now to scapegoat.

    cuando un jugador le gana a otro por más que entrene jamás le volverá a ganar el jugador perdedor a menos que le pueda jugar igual pero no lo creo porque cuando yo jugaba a los que les gane nunca me pudieron ganar y me di cuenta porque les atacan los nervios y porque les atacan los nervios pues mientras no les des chansa ya no te juegan y el que es bueno se fastidia de jugar porque los que lo miran dicen los está robando y no se defiende nada

    • @lyokas4915
      @lyokas4915 2 месяца назад

      Same with earl at 18:00, plays a legal safe then still shot right after, i dont understand. Or maybe thats the old rule if you announce a pocket and miss and get an unwanted safe, opponent has the option to give back

    • @Married2Jamaica
      @Married2Jamaica 2 месяца назад +2

      different rules unlike what we are used to, if an intended shot is missed without calling safe and is played as though it was a safeguard in the event of missing, then the opponent has the right to pass on his turn

    • @onemoremisfit
      @onemoremisfit 2 месяца назад

      The were playing "call shot / call safe". It means you must call either playing safe or playing a shot, and when you call safe and luck a ball in the ball stays pocketed but your turn is discontinued. If you call playing a shot, miss the shot but get lucky and leave it safe the opponent has the option of passing the turn back to you. I have seen other matches played by this rule and I doubt Earl Strickland personally made it up. They were also playing "10 ball last", which means you can play the 10 ball in the middle of a rack to keep your turn only, if you make the shot it does not win the rack and the 10 ball is spotted.
