I must say that the voice of the narrator is really growing on me. He really nails the way of simply providing information while insects are duking it out. Plus, one aspect that I didn't really pay attention to before, is the game's music. It just fits very well with hundreds of tiny animals scurrying around on the ground :D

I agree completely! I actually listen to the game's OST outside of playing the game, and that's something very rare for me. And the narrator's delivery, it's perfect.

I think he chews some lines too hard.
It appears to be Mauler, who has a youtube channel, if you wish to listen to dozens of hours of his voice.

Hey, just found your channel! I love this game and I greatly appreciate your play style, narration and easy going nature while providing useful information and being kind. The pervasive fire ants are my favorite of all but the termites are a blast to use as well! The vigorous ants are great against the in-base attacks, but it often comes down to a food problem and I’m probably poor at their management as I need more experience using them lol. Hard on Cold Blood is possible with Pervasive and that’s what I found the most successful. Upgraded bundles are the priority at about 20 or so ants. Great play through!

Thanks, what a pleasant comment :)
I have now done Hard on Cold Blood (no challenge) with Pervasive and Vigorous! It's kind of addicting to replay. IMO the aphid economy is important, as is over-running the black ant colony early-ish.

@@TortugaPower Absolutely 👍 Congratulations! Yeah I miss the aphid farms depending on the map and ant type, I also found a really quick solution by just click-dragging some ants into other slots and the lag clears right up and it works fine!

I mean, once again vigorous ants are almsot virtually the preferred option over pervasive. The free hatches are nice, but they don't do well if you're loosing ants at a fast rate since that free hatches have a 90 second cool down, so you'll never be fully able to utilize them (especially with lvl 3 ants w/ the extra ant). At best, you'll eventually have soldiers dying piecemeal as they hatch after 90, so you have to take things slowly. Vigorous ants, on the other hand, basically have a 50% overall buff to everything that lasts for 120 seconds after hatching. The power difference is immense, and it's very helpful when you need to move across the map quickly (like in a Bridge too Far). This allows for things to get done fast and without break.
Also, if used correctly the Little Black ants and Big-headed ants can cause some serious issues for even fire ants, it's just that they're being controlled by the AI.

Hi Adam. "are almsot virtually the preferred option" -- I imagine you mean "almost universally", but where are you getting this opinion from?
I might be missing the proper guide site. But the first thing that a google search turns up for me is this:
      www.reddit.com/r/eotu/comments/wgzrqw/vigorous_or_persuasive_fire_ant/
And that one endorses pervasive more than vigorous.

@@TortugaPower Don't mind my grammar, it's much to be desired at times. Anyway, I get this opinion from videos from a few players that play many different challenges in this game, they make tier lists, and I occasionally talk to some via comments. The competitive side of this game is rather niche, so usually everyone knows everyone.

    • @TortugaPower

I see, so that's for competitive play? I can see Vigorous being much better there. For mission 4.1 Cold Blood, I think Pervasive is much better. Mostly because your economy depends on massing ants (in order to bridge the water via pontoons).
BTW I didn't care about grammar, but will say what I'm pretty sure you meant (in case you meant something else and correct me).

Also for anyone who plays and gets nearly game-breaking lag on freeplay, if you disable the aphid farm it will get rid of the lag, as occasionally ladybugs spawn in game by the dozens and get stuck in the map. With Aphid farms disabled, I get no lag with 400+ ants as opposed to 125. And setting difficulty to a percentage and “Constant” instead of ramp will prevent hundreds of creatures spawning in the map and lagging the game to nearly a quitting point 👍

Needing to target the legs is a bit annoying with them not able to attack unless they climb up pretty much

hey Josh! Yes, I'm really hoping to set aside some time for that game :)
But, from some initial content out there, it looks very similar to SoaSE 1, at the state it reached with Rebellion. I will need to dive in further, perhaps, to see the differences. And don't get me wrong, even if it is a general evolution (not revolution) to Rebellion, I will be happy.

It means a free ant, and that's great for Vigorous. But for pervasive the second ant doesn't spawn free (based on what I read).

@@TortugaPower wouldn’t that just mean instead of like 20 level 2 spots you could have 10 level 3 spots and have the exact same amount of ants but they’re stronger?

    • @adamtruong1759
      @adamtruong1759 4 месяца назад

@@TortugaPower It's not that the extra ant at level 3 isn't free for pervasive ants, it's just that having another ant belonging to a tile resets the 90 second cool down for a free ant more often. This results in both ants on the same tile essentially vying for that free spawn.
