Holy Toledo! Thanks so.much for sharing. I know where I will be, this summer
Got to love sandbars.
great vid. how fun.
Update south Carolina you can find gold in many of the creeks. No rules. I've never cared to chase colors where there are restrictions. Over 40 years at it. Before Oceana took over Haile gold mine, I ran all around the area. Folks welcomed me onto there land. In North Carolina, I enjoy searching the old mine sites around Indian Trail, Charlotte area, on up around Reeds gold mine area. Finding gold in Union county tickles my gizzard moreso, because that's where I'm from. Restrictions? That's up to you individual as far as I'm concerned. I guess it's the "Rebel" in my blood!
Rules and regulations.make it a challenge.. That's why I just look at it as a beautiful day outside and a educational adventure.
i grew up in henderson county.
You grew up in heaven.
New sub awesome video

Nice job bud. I hit that sub button.

Hi! I’m kinda new to western NC, & I’ve wanted to learn how to pan for gold my whole life. I also sub’bd! Thank you for these videos👍❤. Hope to run into you some day.
Thank you for your kind comment. I hope you have success. It's always an enjoyable day no matter what. I don't know if you have ever watched Dan Hurd on RUclips he is a great teacher and also an easy watch. I learned a lot from him.
Im in Oregon. There is good gold still here in areas that were worked by the chineses and dredging. Heavy pans...i hit Sub button
Retracing history is an excellent way to find gold. Oregon is a beautiful state with tons of opportunities. Thanks for the sub it really helps a small channel.
Helps to support our fellow miners however we can
I found a giant chunk of garnet in Humboldt county in a creek in the mountains. I mean a big chunk. Must have been 50 lbs and 2’ x 9” thick.
That's why they left the N.C. gold rush.
I know a Hotspot that I haven't been to in years!
You just gave it time for more gold to deposit.
I have a few places we can go. I promise we can find good gold with a pan. Tennessee, North Carolina, & Georgia.
I just got a new GoPro and I'm ready to use it and I know you're the man for the gold I've watched all your videos and have enjoyed it learning with you. Let me know if you ever want a tag along
@@HighCountryRocks You should definitely go to a creek here with me. Just drop me an e-mail and I will let you know the next time I am going.
I'm trying to find a place where I can take my son and get a few flakes near Johnson City or Elizabethtown TN. Any ideas? Feel free to PM me.
You should check out prospectorAl s videos I think he videos a few public golf places near you.
@@JustThisGuy42 The only place in that area that I have tried is the Nolichucky river. I didn't find any, but I only did a few pans. Maybe try Doe creek as well.
I was doing that in Creek in Maggie valley. I found gold, but I thought it might be fool's gold I had no way to check it.
That's great I'm happy you found this video and commented. The best way to tell the difference if you haven't figured it out is by the color. Gold will not tarnish copper will have sometimes an iridescent to Brown look that gold rarely has. Yhe hardness is another way to tell pyrite will most likely fracture into a cube or a straight edge when gold will just smash and stay rounded. There is a lot of gold in North Carolina especially in the gold belt. Using a magnet could help you distinguish the difference.
@@HighCountryRocks thanks a lot of it was flakes & soft some was all over rocks like in it stuck to it. So if it's gold it will stick to magnet? Thanks. If it was gold there was a lot of flakes of it.
No the magnet will separate the minerals from the gold leaving only the gold by itself the magnet will attract most of the stuff that fool you.
@@HighCountryRocks Oh okay 😆
I have alot to learn in the gold world. It's hard work.
Where can you find the laws for the forest, and I was wondering if you are in a boat or kayak on catawba river if you can you pan in the river
I think the N.C. National Forest rules are posted on their website. You should be perfectly fine in the Catawba River. You are almost always good to go with a gold pan. They regulate the size of the shovel In the National Forest to a( D handle )I want to say under 30 inches but don't quote me on the inches. You can't use a dredge in national forest in North Carolina from what I read.

Are you aware of any place in buncombe county that can be panned successfully? i.e. with color
I don't know of any. Just Burke
Does anybody have any recommendations on where to go below the Blue ridge parkway
You just have to respect the laws and look into Pisgah national Forest. Absolutely nothing can be collected on the Blue Ridge parkway or Wilson Creek. They're pretty strict about their laws needing to use a d shovel and hand panning only. It's hard to find a heavy deposit in those those tributaries on the higher elevation side of Pisgah National Forest but there is some color.
Thank you highcountryRocks
Good luck the lower you go the better. If you get down towards Burke county and you start seeing more color.
Really? I live in Burke county I went to south mountain state park today was wondering if there was any there at clear creek. I want to find good spots around here. I am in Valdese. Thank you
