His fate is still unknown. He may have survived but chose to stop fighting to wander endlessly and watch over the world in X's place, having finally ending his internal self-conflict and realized his own reason for fighting. At least, that's what I believed.
Hikari Yagami the actual dialogue of Zero coming back in X6 does not actually say that, he simply said that he doesn't know how he is repaired but compared his survival to X's which implies Dr. Wily did it like how Light did to X

I've been a Mega Man fan since it's origins on the NES, and even I wanted Zero dead. Killing off a character in a very heroic way prevents it from getting stale. And in my honest opinion, the ZX series is just as good as the Zero series. Perhaps the Zero series is slightly better, but that's it. People tend to hate the ZX series because "it has teh kidz!", and those people seem to forget that Mega Man started as a robot KID saving the world.
Great point, Since both megaman and Megaman X have gotten over 10 games, and got stale in the sense of "AND SUDDENLY SIGMABALLS JUST CAME BACK FOR NO REASON" or "WILY BREAKS OUT OF PRISON 10 SECONDS AFTER BEING PUT ON THERE" It got stale in the story sense pretty quick. The Zero series has, Copy X, Elipzo a reploid who couldn't become a hero and became obsessed with power, Weil is built up as a successor of Wily but way more devious and properly motivated than the original Megamans "Light was a jerk so I made his machines go kill stuff", Then a story climax with the reveal of Omega, and the birth of a new start as the Mother Elf leaves, X technically dies, and Weil still is around to produce the final game. No more BS, no more "suddenly he came back" just a straight line to the finish.
Isn’t it sobering how things always go south whenever Zero meets a sweet girl and shows his soft side? He had Iris in X4 and while we don’t see much of their relationship outside of her role as a navigator, cutscenes and flashbacks, we know from Zero’s anguished reaction to her death that he genuinely loved her and she gave him a reason to fight. In fact, Zero’s feelings for Iris and the time they had together may have contributed to him warming up to Ciel. While Zero didn’t directly remember Iris, he still found it comforting and familiar that a girl had shown him affection. Unbeknownst to him, Ciel was a second chance at love after the death of his previous one. Ultimately, tragedy struck again and this time it was Zero who gave his life to save everyone in Area Zero, specially Ciel. This time, she was the one who grieved him before their relationship could even start.

Now here's denial talk. If there is any inaccuracies, sorry I got most of my knowledge from the wiki. Look at it this way. Zero died twice before. He came back. This time, we've got a broken helmet buried in the sand. If you follow the cut off, it's curved with the sand. It doesn't have jagged edges or anything and the only thing missing is the diamond thing. Really that's not confirming that Zero is dead. Just that he's probably really badly damaged. Atmospheric entry clearly wouldn't have killed him or the helmet wouldn't be in that shape. In fact, if his helmet can survive it, there's no reason why Zero shouldn't. Now Zero probably is in some deep shit cuz... falling + explosion = bad. It would seem probable that Zero would die. Except, once again, looking at his history, he likes to give probability the middle finger. He has some brilliant resilience to death. So in conclusion, his fate is unknown. Also what happens 200 years in the future doesn't mean shit. He could have like... died 100 years in the future or something. Hell, 200 years is twice the standard time between series. Mega Man to Mega Man X is 100 years. X to Zero is 100 years. Just forget ZX. And one last way to look at it: Fully upgraded Cyber Elf. Never say die. Zero OP.

Phantom was killed in the first game(MMZ) he blew himself up when zero defeated him, as for the other 3, well Marverinno pretty much got that explained.
@kutless45 Because most of fans wanted Zero to live, and most of them were like "Nuuu zero is alive D= I know, that was only his helmet T-T" and so Capcom had to create ZX to continue the story, which wasn't exactly too explainer so they made ZX Advent... but ZX Advent is about to have a new game (If you finish it on hard mode there is a secret ending were Thomas says he wants to reset the world too, but in a different way than Albert's did)
@LaserGhostTumblrCom Well by the way the fans react on these simple videos you can see it's a very good series. I recommend you get an old Gameboy Advanced and all 4 cartridges of the original Zero-series. Or the Collection edition for the Nintendo DS. They are worth it. the story is amazing, the gameplay is great. and the character development is complicated but soooo good. Let us all for one forget about graphics, and relive the precious moments we've had with Zero as well!

In the 1st Maverick Wars, Zero would've been laughed at by every Hunter for Ciel's attraction to him despite it. Besides getting emotional traumatized by wars and Iris's death that is...unless in-between games he does appreciated her company.
To be damn honest at myself, if he had no interest in falling in love with Ciel at all and just solely focused on completing the missions similar to what happened to Colonel instead of him slowly rediscovering his humanity and his softer side that he locked away post X4 like love, compassion and stuff via him seeing X again, his developing soft spot for Cyber Elves from spending time with Alouette after he help fulfilled Ciel's personal request back in Z1 (to ya know infuse his DNA soul into Alouette's body and DNA soul unknowingly to keep her nightmares down and to her own personal request she is sired by Zero like his own daughter as a callback to Wily's modding Robot Masters periodically to fight Mega Man & Light), etc, etc therefore in a process rediscovering his identity as a war vet soldier who fights to protect people he believes in...then he would've gave up defeating Omega to save Mother Elf at the time Omega had his old body and throw away his blade thinking he's a fake. I mean roughly before Z2-Z4 while fighting in the desert for one year alone, he realized that he can't do all of this alone by himself, realizing he and Ciel need each other to accomplish their goals and decided to help fulfill Ciel's dream and by extension X & Dr. Light. Remember Old grandpa Andrew? He's an Repliforce sailor who fell in love with a human around the time Dr. Doppler uprising occurred and DNA soul erasure incident. He would've been happy to see Ciel feel in love with a 3 century old war machine designed to kill X by irony. In the Repliforce Wars he would've been mocked and laugh at 6 ways from Sunday by every Hunter for Ciel's attraction to him despite that he's technically the father of Mother Elf and all the animal and fairy looking Cyber Elves. And Mother Elf admired her creator's descendent just as much as Zero So there you have it.

@ZXShadow1 There's no way Zero survived falling through the earth's atmosphere like a meteor, even if he'd survived the explosion/collapse of ragnarok and wasn't crushed by falling debris. Impact with the earth's surface would've eliminated him...if there was anything left after streaking through the earth's atmosphere, with the friction of the air reducing metal meteors into gas from the sheer heat. Face it, man...Zero's gone. *tears in eyes* I took physics, and so did he. T-T

But of course that was his original body though... So I wonder if the original body with Zero's original mind could have survived. Because there's no over looking it, that body is more sturdier, and maybe there could have been a 0.5% chance of that body surviving...

Promise: Next New World is the theme in the credits. It has this melancholic tune that signifies that Zero is dead Esperanto is the fast paced song when Zero goes to Area Zero for the first time. It has a fast and fun tune to signify that even a terrible incident from the Maverick Wars could become so beautiful.

@owenitzura Even I have to admit that the ZX series is great, I just think it isn't as good (though Advent had a good story to it). Though, I do say that it is good to kill off a character in a heroic way. What would be awesome is to be able to play as Zero like you can play as Altair in Assassins Creed 2 (unlockable).

Now here's denial talk. If there is any inaccuracies, sorry I got most of my knowledge from the wiki.
Look at it this way. Zero died twice before. He came back. This time, we've got a broken helmet buried in the sand. If you follow the cut off, it's curved with the sand. It doesn't have jagged edges or anything and the only thing missing is the diamond thing. Really that's not confirming that Zero is dead. Just that he's probably really badly damaged.
Atmospheric entry clearly wouldn't have killed him or the helmet wouldn't be in that shape. In fact, if his helmet can survive it, there's no reason why Zero shouldn't.
Now Zero probably is in some deep shit cuz... falling + explosion = bad. It would seem probable that Zero would die. Except, once again, looking at his history, he likes to give probability the middle finger. He has some brilliant resilience to death. So in conclusion, his fate is unknown.
Also what happens 200 years in the future doesn't mean shit. He could have like... died 100 years in the future or something. Hell, 200 years is twice the standard time between series. Mega Man to Mega Man X is 100 years. X to Zero is 100 years. Just forget ZX.
And one last way to look at it: Fully upgraded Cyber Elf. Never say die. Zero OP.

There is an epilogue called the Vile's Incident. It doesn't mention anything about Zero being alive.

@kutless45 Because most of fans wanted Zero to live, and most of them were like "Nuuu zero is alive D= I know, that was only his helmet T-T" and so Capcom had to create ZX to continue the story, which wasn't exactly too explainer so they made ZX Advent... but ZX Advent is about to have a new game (If you finish it on hard mode there is a secret ending were Thomas says he wants to reset the world too, but in a different way than Albert's did)

I recommend you get an old Gameboy Advanced and all 4 cartridges of the original Zero-series.
Or the Collection edition for the Nintendo DS.
They are worth it. the story is amazing, the gameplay is great. and the character development is complicated but soooo good.
Let us all for one forget about graphics, and relive the precious moments we've had with Zero as well!

In the 1st Maverick Wars, Zero would've been laughed at by every Hunter for Ciel's attraction to him despite it. Besides getting emotional traumatized by wars and Iris's death that is...unless in-between games he does appreciated her company.
To be damn honest at myself, if he had no interest in falling in love with Ciel at all and just solely focused on completing the missions similar to what happened to Colonel instead of him slowly rediscovering his humanity and his softer side that he locked away post X4 like love, compassion and stuff via him seeing X again, his developing soft spot for Cyber Elves from spending time with Alouette after he help fulfilled Ciel's personal request back in Z1 (to ya know infuse his DNA soul into Alouette's body and DNA soul unknowingly to keep her nightmares down and to her own personal request she is sired by Zero like his own daughter as a callback to Wily's modding Robot Masters periodically to fight Mega Man & Light), etc, etc therefore in a process rediscovering his identity as a war vet soldier who fights to protect people he believes in...then he would've gave up defeating Omega to save Mother Elf at the time Omega had his old body and throw away his blade thinking he's a fake. I mean roughly before Z2-Z4 while fighting in the desert for one year alone, he realized that he can't do all of this alone by himself, realizing he and Ciel need each other to accomplish their goals and decided to help fulfill Ciel's dream and by extension X & Dr. Light.
Remember Old grandpa Andrew? He's an Repliforce sailor who fell in love with a human around the time Dr. Doppler uprising occurred and DNA soul erasure incident. He would've been happy to see Ciel feel in love with a 3 century old war machine designed to kill X by irony. In the Repliforce Wars he would've been mocked and laugh at 6 ways from Sunday by every Hunter for Ciel's attraction to him despite that he's technically the father of Mother Elf and all the animal and fairy looking Cyber Elves. And Mother Elf admired her creator's descendent just as much as Zero So there you have it.

@ZXShadow1 There's no way Zero survived falling through the earth's atmosphere like a meteor, even if he'd survived the explosion/collapse of ragnarok and wasn't crushed by falling debris. Impact with the earth's surface would've eliminated him...if there was anything left after streaking through the earth's atmosphere, with the friction of the air reducing metal meteors into gas from the sheer heat. Face it, man...Zero's gone. *tears in eyes* I took physics, and so did he. T-T

Promise: Next New World is the theme in the credits. It has this melancholic tune that signifies that Zero is dead
Esperanto is the fast paced song when Zero goes to Area Zero for the first time. It has a fast and fun tune to signify that even a terrible incident from the Maverick Wars could become so beautiful.

Believe it or not .. Check it out!!

Even I have to admit that the ZX series is great, I just think it isn't as good (though Advent had a good story to it). Though, I do say that it is good to kill off a character in a heroic way.
What would be awesome is to be able to play as Zero like you can play as Altair in Assassins Creed 2 (unlockable).
