try pitching sample up and resampling hella times and pitching it back down, prolly get some aliasing, pretty unpredictable varying machine to machine, eps 16 plus got crazy artifacts while mpc 2000xl has a very distinct and sometimes buttery aliasing which is eerily similar to doing that trick on the koala app (yet producing a way better effect)
Yeah man, me too - I’ve always wondered what sample rate it the lofi button drops to on the 404, my guess now (at least for the A) is that is simulates (or does it for real) quartering it from 44.1kHz.
@@Nonjuroryou are correct. The 404sx button only lowers the frequency. It doesn't adjust bit rate or apply any filter or effect. I can match the sound on my 505, but I've not been able to recreate it on the mk2. It always seems filtered on the mk2.
Very minimal, I hear it on my stuff a little because I’ve heard it up close before compression but it’s close to transparent, much much cleaner than what IG n Twitter do.
@@Nonjuror Thanks. I’ve been trying to match some of these rates using Bitjuggler, and I get very close but not exact, and wondered how much of a part RUclips was playing in that. Great videos. Thanks for all your work.
@@Nonjuror ok thanks, the mk 2 has the vinyl sim of the 303 and the 404 sx right? is the sound of the vinyl sim close to the 303 and 404 sx? the mk 2 has a samplerate of 48 khz i´m afraid that the sound of the mk 2 could be too clean in general?
No worries, I have a vinyl sim vid here comparing the mk2 to the 404A & 303: ruclips.net/video/ZujYiq9qRK4/видео.html To your other point, is cleaner sounding, much more transparent compared to the 303. I hope in the future they introduce 202 style sample rates when sampling…they might…
Totally get where you’re coming from, I def miss the personality the 202 or 303 brings to everything it touches but it’s never bothered me with the mk2, I like that when I sample from vinyl it sounds exactly like the vinyl…or at least my dodgy needle…I do still bounce stuff to the 202 n back tho when I want that low sample rate grit
Whenever I make videos like this I always render at the highest audio quality I can, please feel free to sample anything you dig!
You's the best.
I love 7.81 kHz makes instantly the break sounds like it’s a Bboying battle
Holy crud, the comparison is dope. The Lo-fi recording of the 303 reminds me so much of my SP12. CRUNCHY GOOOODNESSSSSSS
Yeh man, 100%, I have a mpc60ii n that sample rate on the 303 is the closest thing to that I know of (that isn’t 12 bit)
I'm glad I have both, the 808 sounds sick on the 202 especially
Hell yeah man, 202 lofi 2 808s alllll day!
both sound dope
Wow much prefer the ring on 202 LOFI1 ... thanks for sharing!!
yeah man, it's so good!
I would love it if Roland implemented the ability to change sample rates on the mkii. Maybe if the community requests it enough.
Def keen requesting, I want it too!

👀👀👀👀 fck yes!
The SP404MKII actually has quite a nice sound when you sample at 45 / 78 rpm tho, like nothing crazy but it's still sounds kinda nice & smooth
I'll take both, thanks!
Hahaha straight up!
The 303 for boom bap/impact, the 202 for mellow, lo-fi goodness ... How can you go wrong?! :)
Legit! What the 303's "Long" sample rate does to drums is life changing.
Good Job
Cheers man!
202 sounds so buttery
All day!
@@Nonjuror glad I found your channel man, still waiting for my 303 in male. One day I'll find the right 202. Keep inspiring us. Cheers
mustbescud did you ever get yours? How’d you like it?
good !! SP-202 !!
Yeah man, it’s the grit!
I like the 202 standard & the 303 lofi. Their Sweet Spots. I wonder how the 303 lofi compares to the OG404 lofi.

SAME! I love the combo of them as well.

@DJDigitalJosh I’ve had a little luck with Crusher on the MK2 to try to get that 202 sound but maaaan not much….
if i want to put 6 to 10 minutes ambient samples in the pads is that possible?
202 raw hiphop
202 def raw!
I prefere the lofi of the 202 and the long on the 303. But If you add a low pass filter on the 303 lofi, I think you are close to the 202 one.
Oh word, so Lofi button on and Isolater, dig it. My favourite thing right now it putting all bass lines on lofi 2 then using a low pass filter.
I own a 404 sx soon 202 ‘ then 303
What are the name of the drum breaks used?
I don't recall specifically but I know some of these were loops from the Reason factory sounds
"standard" on the 202 FTW
Yerp, that 15kHz is wicked, then you drop the pitch a little n it beefs up.
🖤
How much effect is the RUclips compression having on the sounds? Is it significant or negligible?
Very minimal, I hear it on my stuff a little because I’ve heard it up close before compression but it’s close to transparent, much much cleaner than what IG n Twitter do.

That’s dope to hear you’re able to dial in that type of sound, cheers!
202 is my baby, 303 has punch tho, boss is boss
Well put! 202 is an everyday thing for me
hy, do you have the issue with the sp 404 buzz on the 303 and 202 too? and what is about the mk2???
No buzz AT ALL on 303 or MK2, they're awesome...202 has it's own little buzz it adds if using Banks A/B but not C/D (memory card)
