Thank you so much!! I always love making these different thumbnails, they're honestly one of my favorite parts of making a video! It means a lot to me to know that people love seeing them 🥰
Hi, im a veteran player, i started to play the game last year and i lived the diamond/pearl- black/white rotation, this one is probably the second most impactful, betweeen sableye donks, the powercreep that reshiram/zekrom vs SP pokemon, and rule changes going first it was one of the expiriences off all time, the fact that players going worlds that year near the start of, was one of the best times to see players trying to innovate
Thank you for the clarification! I've been playing the game since ~2017, and I honestly didn't know how truly impactful the DP rotation really was. From the research I've done for various other videos and projects, it does look like the DP-BW era was like a mix of the old and "modern" eras, but I really needed to hear a personal account to fully understand! I appreciate your help! 😁💚
@@pikiptcg thanks to you too, i really enjoyed your 1 prize deck video, is always nice to see videos about the state of the meta, is always interesting to me see how players adapts after an era-changing rotation, and i love your thumbnails thats always a plus
58:27 Prize cards as they always have been are an interesting but ultimately frustrating system, though I feel they can become a genuinely great system if they reworked it For instance, what if they made prize cards their own separate thing as opposed to being taken directly from the top of your deck? They could print prize cards that are exclusively made for that purpose that are buffed up items, supporters, and even mons that you can pick and chose up all six, but they are randomly placed and you can only have one copy of each That way people can't get screwed out of essential cards in their deck causing them to be at a severe disadvantage or even outright lose a game because of bad luck and there is still an incentive/benefit to take the prize card lead. Hell, it could even open up new strats/help breathe new life into certain decks
I think that this could work, but the normal system works fine. We are allowed up to 4 of a single card in a deck (unless specified otherwise), and some pokemon actually have attacks and abilities that directly correlate to prize cards (small example being lucky bonus chansey) Yes, you can get screwed over by it. The thing is, if we were to have op cards for prize cards all of the time, it would basically benefit the one who gets the prizes first, with almost no way for the other to get back ahead, which makes the game interesting. I have had my games where I had terrible luck with prizes and it had screwed me up, but I think it's more a matter of the deck itself and how you build it that affects this. Like say, if I were to just have 1 or 2 total of every card, I'm bound to easily end up with important cards in the prizes and get screwed. But, if I were to have 3 or 4 of an essential, the odds that I get screwed are close to none for me. I can agree with some parts here, but honestly the prize cards currently are the best we are going to have :( Edit: sorry for yapping if you made it all the way here
This is why I think expanded needs to have support at least online because I can guarantee most players are very upset when the cards that they own especially in real life rotate and don’t become playable apart from expanded which currently sees little coverage in terms of the tabletop TCG. Although I think most players just put up with rotation every year. But the fact that we are losing an entire set block of cards in April is huge. Expanded means that players’ old cards still have meaning outside of standard. You could argue that the cards rotating this year are playable in TCG Live’s expanded beta format. But yet again, the cards rotating this year wont have access to cards from XY/BW online currently. So cards that didn’t see slot of play in standard can become playable in expanded. Same with standard meta decks, they become a lot better and players can discover new combinations for more recent cards that have rotated with older cards. In my opinion, if the community thinks that this is a very impactful rotation then so should TPCI in terms of adding support for expanded.
as one of the twelve chien-pao ex players left, losing all these supports (rad. greninja, bibarel, lumineon, IRIDA :[) is gonna be Wild i know some cards i’m gonna slot in, but it’s gonna be a lot of experimenting to see what keeps the deck working. not giving up though 💪
I'm proud of you for not giving up hope on your passion deck!! Giving up would be the easy way out, but dedication is what truly defines the best players!
Hold strong! I’m also a CPao main, been running it since Paldea Evolved released. Losing Irida will really suck, but we’ll make it through! My immediate thought for post-rotation is to go with a Tera/Arven/Toolbox build that relies on versatility. Journey Together also contains Iris’s Fighting Spirit, which can work as a decent enough bibarel replacement, even if it takes up your supporter card for the turn. The deck will look wildly different than before, but it can still work!
I’d say that Stormfront Sableye literally _forcing_ a rotation to occur earth is the bigger shift, but this one is far more relevant and makes for better content lol
I remember watching a video essay about that Sableye... it's actually nuts that Creatures/TPCI decided to suddenly wipe a huge chunk of that meta out just because of one card... (and I though Lost Mine or Junk Hunt Sableye was bad! )
@Android-qj2yu I always say "Let's go gambling!" in my head when I'm doing an action that relies partially on chance, only to remember that my luck is awful and say, "aw, dang it!" 😅
Thank you for the correction! I didn't play the game competitively back then (I was around 6 years old at the time 😅) but it's been super cool learning about how much of a symbolic shift into the "modern era" that rotation was!
Gardevoir receiving a big nerf makes me happy. That deck is so unfun to fight... unwinnable matchup for control, unwinnable matchup for spread, feels like you can only beat it with run of the mill beatstick decks
This rotation just makes me feel like dropping the game altogether. I barely got to play with my Gardevoir ex deck for a year, I don't wanna shill out more money for another deck.
That's totally understandable, I truly feel your pain. I've spent so much money on all these different decks and cards over time only for them to inevitably rotate, but if there's a silver lining, it's that the game has become more affordable than ever to build popular decks. Of course, I understand and respect your decision either which way, definitely choose the option that's best for you! 💚
insane thumbnail as always

WE WILL MISS YOU REGIDRAGO VSTAR (said no one)

i'll miss the 1-1 line i run in terapagos
said me
Can't wait for it to rotate I'm so f-ing fed up with that deck😂🙈
your thumbnails are so great, lol
Thank you so much!! I love making them and it means so much to hear your kind words!! 🥰

I respect you for having a dedicated decklist for rotated cards 💪
It was quite an experience for putting it all together... I was not expecting that it would take as long as it did 😅

Feel ya.. lets see, maybe I‘m gonna revisit CPao a last time for EUIC.. 😢

Honestly I am so excited for rotation. I’m so over regidrago and radiant zard
I kinda wanna buy that Lumineon full art irl just to pour one out for the homie
It's such a beautiful art... I'm going to miss being able to play it
You had the perfect opportunity to call it Lost Zoned instead of Gone reduced to atoms
I thought about that during editing and I really wish I could go back and change it...
I’m gonna miss playing double turbo in klawf
As a newer Klawf/Terapagos enjoyer, it sucks to lose the lifeblood of the deck, I'm really hoping they reprint some form of DTE...
The gambling aspect of pokemon is part of what makes it fun.
@Android-qj2yu I always say "Let's go gambling!" in my head when I'm doing an action that relies partially on chance, only to remember that my luck is awful and say, "aw, dang it!" 😅
I hope we get a DTE reprint or at least some replacement.
The biggest standard rotation took place in the beginning of 2011 rotating out ALL of the diamond and pearl platinum block of cards
Thank you for the correction! I didn't play the game competitively back then (I was around 6 years old at the time 😅) but it's been super cool learning about how much of a symbolic shift into the "modern era" that rotation was!

Pikip Nuzlocke when?

Time to play GLC 😈

lost zone will come back someday
