What a Detroit legend and humble sweet spirit. Lesson is don’t ever cry over spoiled milk and always speak truth to power. His funeral last Saturday was entirely beautiful. Tears ✊🏾❤️
Ok... I'm 53 and completely disillusioned with the world today and I have just discovered this song and it explains everything in my thoughts and justifies every single one of them, I'm a very happy man right now.
Rodriguez was a philosopher, poet and musician who could put his fingers exactly on the ailments of society. Somehow one feels better when it gets spoken out loud. Do me a favor: Go and read the book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible. You will find that Solomon, the author of Ecclesiastes had a lot in common with Rodriguez wrt wisdom and emotional maturity, although he was infinitely richer.
As good as any Dylan song (and I love Dylan). So happy he finally got his day in the sun. With his talent he could have become an arrogant SOB but he was a humble, gentle man.
I remember this song from the film Searching for Sugar Man. Sixto lived without any recognition for his music for over 40 years.., yet his music inspired most of South Africa for so long. The man had no clue, until he was envited to play in a stadium for thousands of people... What a story ❤
But they didn't wake up, did they? Even the artist himself slurred Trump, as he was lacking in one major aspect...God. Just like John Fogerty. Forgot what freedom truly means. Godless is coldness, apathy, hippie failure.
In manchester we discovered him in the early 90s..believed hed blown his head off on stage..we listened to him loads...a kid got his album from an outdoor market in ashton..so glad the story got better..god love him
The Arranger on S.R.'s early records deserves a mountain in his own name. The records have a sound all their own. Production is sublime, the strings, the clarity of the spare musical lines - never cluttered, so you hear the words. The words are worth hearing.
OMG This man's music, it teas you apart and so repairs you. So beautiful it breaks your heart and drives the best you have in you in every direction you move and think and dream. Sixto, you will never leave us. Be in peace.
This song does something inside to me that very few others songs do- it makes me more aware and to strive to be more loving and compassionate to others- thank you Sixto
Listening to the words you understand why corporate America did not want him to be heard by the masses. He was a challenge to the system. Truth always is. A talented poet, Dylan came nowhere close to that. His most activist song, Blowing in the Wind, has questions but no answers. Not only that but he gave it to others to launch it. Because it had success, he decided to sing it himself. Rodriguez describes a world others, the media included, did not want to admit existing, and in doing so he exposes the problems with a system that generates that kind of world.
Una de mis canciones favoritas sin duda 😃 había un vídeo en vivo donde se presentó en un programa con una orquesta en vivo desafortunadamente ya no lo encuentro
Cause I lost my job two weeks before Christmas And I talked to Jesus at the sewer And the Pope said it was none of his God-damned business While the rain drank champagne My Estonian Archangel came and got me wasted Cause the sweetest kiss I ever got is the one I've never tasted Oh but they'll take their bonus pay to Molly McDonald, Neon ladies, beauty is that which obeys, is bought or borrowed Cause my heart's become a crooked hotel full of rumours But it's I who pays the rent for these fingered-face out-of-tuners and I make 16 solid half hour friendships every evening Cause your queen of hearts who is half a stone And likes to laugh alone is always threatening you with leaving Oh but they play those token games on Willy Thompson And give a medal to replace the son of Mrs. Annie Johnson Cause they told me everybody's got to pay their dues And I explained that I had overpaid them So overdued I went to the company store and the clerk there said that they had just been invaded So I set sail in a teardrop and escaped beneath the doorsill Cause the smell of her perfume echoes in my head still Cause I see my people trying to drown the sun In weekends of whiskey sours Cause how many times can you wake up in this comic book and plant flowers?
God saw the special man he created..and decided to keep him hidden from the Hollywood corruptables..the few albums sen more vibration s and beautiful message than all the rolling stones and beatles combibed RIP 😢

Just happy we South Africans we’re able to keep his music alive until the rest of the world woke up.😢
Sincere thank you South Africa, we are so happy you re-introduced this one of a kind talent to the world.

damn.. thanks man
Mister Sixto fabulous
I just close my eyes and live his lyrics, and get a little teary eyed once in a while.
First words brought tears to my eyes... " Cause I lost my job two weeks before Christmas"
" The sweetest kiss I got, was the one I never tasted" - Shakespeare is smiling somewhere.
Muito agradecido pela postagem, sabendo do teor filosófico da canção penso que você é uma pessoa capaz de solidariedade e indignação...
He was the Van Gogh of music
drip...drip...drip....(that's tears at the beauty, majesty and power of this song)
Introspective and hauntingly beautiful . Love the string arrangement. RIP Sixto 🙏 😢

This was an amazing listen. Thank you
I heard this for the first time in 2021on the Harbour Arm in Folkestone, a pier, where it was playing loud from a champagne bar. It was stunning.
I think the song is as old as me 🧡
Weird setting for this song but you can't argue with the result.
I'm in love
2022.....Still listenning
Same ❤🧡
Thank you Sixto and the post.
I'm working on my top 2000 songs of all time. Cause is number 1.
yes
Magnifique !
I wish I could find the lyriks, I speak French and I don’t understand all the words
It's a dream
Fantastic video my friend. I love what you did.
What kind of camera did you use?
Geniaal
Ma préférée de Monsieur sixto ! Heureusement justice lui a été rendue grâce à l'Afrique du Sud !
🧡
Y aurait’il moyen d’avoir les paroles en français. Il y a certains passages que je n’ai pas bien compris
I wonder how many of us lost our job before Christmas i know i was one of them on a America the think is all good
Detroit❤
I was devistaded when i heard of his passing
I need to remind myself, every janitor could be a sixto
Im a janitor and I'm a beaner
Many many years ago i lost my job the day before christmas
Cause I lost my job two weeks before Christmas
And I talked to Jesus at the sewer
And the Pope said it was none of his God-damned business
While the rain drank champagne
My Estonian Archangel came and got me wasted
Cause the sweetest kiss I ever got is the one I've never tasted
Oh but they'll take their bonus pay to Molly McDonald,
Neon ladies, beauty is that which obeys, is bought or borrowed
Cause my heart's become a crooked hotel full of rumours
But it's I who pays the rent for these fingered-face out-of-tuners
and I make 16 solid half hour friendships every evening
Cause your queen of hearts who is half a stone
And likes to laugh alone is always threatening you with leaving
Oh but they play those token games on Willy Thompson
And give a medal to replace the son of Mrs. Annie Johnson
Cause they told me everybody's got to pay their dues
And I explained that I had overpaid them
So overdued I went to the company store
and the clerk there said that they had just been invaded
So I set sail in a teardrop and escaped beneath the doorsill
Cause the smell of her perfume echoes in my head still
Cause I see my people trying to drown the sun
In weekends of whiskey sours
Cause how many times can you wake up in this comic book and plant flowers?
Thank you. I've just listened on the Bbc world service about his life. 15 /8/ 23. May he Rip

💙🖤
Rip you legend❤️ Thank you
I was totally devasted when i found out out of his death
But he went to his death supporting the thing he spoke against in his songs...just like John Fogerty will. Disheartening.
