    How shameful, to tear down that beautiful, historical landmark. Some people are just insufferable.

      ToyotaGuy1971 I agree, and whoever bought the property had to have had it torn down out of meanness. Seems senseless to me. I could be wrong, but I believe the new owner had the ability to keep it up.

      It's my understanding that the main house was in really bad shape. It was originally built in the 1930's and time took it's toll. Sad of course, but all things must pass.

      @@kevinsoundmixer Plenty of older houses around the island, still up and standing. Maybe it could have used some renovating, but like I said, it was a historical landmark - it should have been preserved. There's no excuse.

    20+ years ago, I was in the main house, and walked the grounds, which were beautiful. Every structure on the property, at that time, was in a terribly run-down condition. Every structure suffered from decades of neglect. Ms. Anderson, the owner, initially asked $15 Million for this property. It eventually sold for $8.7 million. This was a "knock-down" from the start... and Obama was wise to use a straw purchaser to obtain title, or the property might have cost it's absurd asking price.

      Curious if you filmed interiors of Mrs Andersons estate? I was there in 2009 an filmed alot of the exteriors .

    • @dmlchannel3262
      @dmlchannel3262 2 года назад +1

      @@dandkproductions7285 No, I didn't - I considered it, but decided against doing so because it just didn't somehow "feel right" to do so. As you saw the exteriors of the house in 2009, you know it was really not in very good shape. The inside had some water damage to the first floor ceilings and baseboards, but the exterior was by far worse.

      So Obama really was the buyer. My wife and I were in Oahu a month ago but didn’t have a chance to go by the old set. I’m curious if any re building is goin on. I know change needs to happen sometime.

    • @dmlchannel3262
      @dmlchannel3262 Год назад +1

      @@MrDPdrum Through a Chicago based straw purchaser, yes, Obama owns the three acres of land and there is new construction taking place on the site. Considering his Martha's Vineyard property, and his purchase of this property, half of the four properties he owns (in addition to his Hype Park residence in Chicago, and his D.C. townhouse) are ocean-front properties.

    • @PKingman
      @PKingman  2 года назад +1

      I think that Hawaii has a law saying that anybody can have access to the beaches as long as you do not cross somebody's property to get there. I just got on the beach a ways down and walked up. Not sure of how the law actually reads. At Hanauma Bay one has to pay to go down to the water.

    I blame the County/Authority??? who have jurisdiction over building permits. I have no idea how this works in Hawaii... Something of this cultural significance should NOT have been allowed to be knocked down, PERIOD. Then, the Magnum PI world collective could have each had a share ownership of the estate & restored it back to its original glory while donating tour money to local charities & funding the maintenance of the estate.
