First year I visited NYC. So many building changes. Nowadays every-day costs are making it too expensive to go there. Still my favourite U.S. city.

And everyone in the Hub feels rich from the property bubble (and the stock market). I have been told that the summer of '87 was the height of the '80's.

I lived in several locations in Brighton during my decade living in Boston. The first was 1687 Commonwealth Avenue, next was 2 Murdock Terrace, then 8 Elmira Street, lastly was 12 Sparhawk Street. I love Brighton.

IMO Pittsfield has finally plateaued in 2010-2024, as it was once bustling in 1976, but 3 major companies closed up...1) GE Transformers, 2) Cranes paper, and 3) Eatons paper. In 1987 I worked in Lenox at a shoe store named Banister Shoes. In 1993 grqduated from BCC's LPN program, and shortly after moved to Orlando FL. That was a good move because there was a LOT of work for LPN's and I bought a house right away. Pittsfield banks would NOT allow me to buy a house and unemployment in Pittsfield was on the rise as the closing of GE, Crane, and Eatons began to take its toll. I can remember in the Allendale Shopping Center's parking lot there was a huge ship "sinking" into the parking lot, to symbolize Pittsfields economic decline.

Wow, look at all of those junked and wrecked LRVs. A majority of them were wreck victims. Sad, they were such great trains when they were new back in the late ‘70s and had great propulsion sounds, but reliability of the LRVs was extremely poor and the unreliable plug doors were replaced with folding doors sometime in the mid to late ‘90s. They last ran in Boston in early 2007 after a 30+ year service life.

A more accurate depiction of the campus would include a squad of drunken frat boys assaulting someone. This must have been taken during the summer.

One pf my favorite rememberances i Of ttthe 1970s was the music ma who brought instruments to tbe commons and thrust them into everyones hands and created a band for all to play in. I tried to never miss an opportunity to participate. What a wonderful guy, never knew his nane. What a rhythym section. Never asked for anything except your participation. I have very fond memories arriving into depew station doing the late 80s/90s to visit family. I would arrive in the early morning from Chicago aboard the (Lakeshore Limited) (4/5 AM:ish) via new Orleans coutless times 5/6 times or even more during this time span.. lol.. ha, I always had to embrace myself for the drastic change in weather there, quite often it was 10/15 dregree colder in buffalo.. I would leave new Orleans in shorts and change for a pair of long sweats or maybe a sweater before arriving into depew..

Most of the Budd RDCs were retired from revenue service by October 1989; though two still remained in service and replaced by the Bombardier 1600s and 600s. They started to be retired in 1979, with the introduction of the Pullman 1300 and 300-series cars. In September 1991, a few of the 33 ex-B&M RDCs, which were converted to locomotive-hauled coaches (designated BTC-2 and CTC-2) in 1980 and 1982; they were retired by 1989, were still in service. Most of the secondhand and inherited equipment was retired between 1979 and 1989.

My dad and grandfather were both B&M engineers back in the day. My dad watched it turn from the Boston and Maine to the Broken and Mangled. My grandfather didn't live long enough to see it happen.
