Ted is a well disciplined dog. Thank you for not giving him just the skin, but not the bone as well. Two things I never gave my dogs. Chicken bones or pork chop bones.

Cannot believe Coleman have stopped making the Northstar dual fuel lantern. Crazy!!! Suggestion: ditch the LPG/propane stove for a Coleman dual fuel. We have been using dual fuel for more 15 years and have never felt the urge to go back to LPG. So much easier (especially if you are running a petrol vehicle like the Jeep).

30 years ago I was doing the same thing. Just myself and my 4 legged friend doing EVERYTHING together. I was born and raised on a farm in Ohio in the U.S. and camping out was a normal activity for us. Being outside is in my blood, a requirement to be a Farmer. lol I acquired my friend the Summer of 1990, he was only 9 weeks old, and we had a wonderful 14 years together. Intelligent and very well behaved, much like your friend Ted. I'm sorry your campsite was invaded by cows, even though I laughed when it happened. I was always fortunate to actually know the cows where I camped and I would just shoo them away. If that didn't work, I'd just give the command and my friend would go into "Herd Mode" and keep them away. Sometimes all it takes is a single BARK or bang on a pan with a spoon to get it done. The cows didn't mean any harm, they were just curious. Imagine going for a walk every other day on the same trail and suddenly one day you come upon something that has never been there before. Nor have you ever seen anything like it. It wasn't there 2 days ago and it doesn't look dangerous. Naturally, you investigate. That's what has just happened to the cows. I just about lost it when the hatchet and chopping block fell over. I could just hear the one cow saying "What's this thing?? OOPS!! Sorry." and the rest that jumped saying "It's ALIVE!! WATCH OUT!!" lol Personally, I think if you stood up and started talking, they would've backed off and left you alone. My words would've been something like "HEY!! That's not yours! Get outta here!" followed with "You break it, you buy it. And by saying "buy it", I mean to say "You'll be supplying Dinner for quite some time." Now, GITONOUTTAHERE!! HYA!!" and start clapping my hands. I'd almost guarantee they'd run away.
Hi Charles, thanks so much for the lovely comment :) I let the cows give us a visit. Encountered many cows and other animals on my trips and know how to behave around them, they have left peacefully after I gently told them to, all good! :) Ted usually doesn't let them on the campsite and herds / barks at them, but this time he was very tired and i held him back, he was chilling curiously behind my back as the cows were sniffing out the campsite like giant doggos :D

A friend like him isn't easy to find. Some may come close, but it won't be quite the same. I miss those days with mine. They were some of the best days ever, even including the bad days. To this very day, he's still smarter than most of my human friends. And some of them are pretty smart, so that says a lot about his own intelligence. 14 years of memories with my smartest friend and many days were spent just like you're doing now. Many years later in Life, those memories will make you smile knowing it was all worthwhile. Just don't forget to tell him Thank You every so often. He deserves to know his friendship is appreciated.
Have you heard about tent stoves or rocket stoves. They're more efficient and eco friendly with no scorch marks left on the area you light your campfire. Please consider using one

Tip for bushcraft and using axes in general: always use some kind of chopping block, hitting soil damages the edge
