    I recently purchased two mother of the groom dresses and with both dresses I was asked to sign a contract stating that once said dress was bought and paid for I could not return it. Maybe this is something to consider adopting. There’s a reason the bridal shops do this. So sorry that you have had to deal with this. Unfortunately people like this make it difficult for everyone else.

    So she lied and returned the dress with the tacking, like u wouldn’t notice? I’m sure she’s done this before. You have her name look on social media, most people post wedding pics. She’s not that bright I’d check.

    That’s so sad. I’m especially disturbed by her attempts to sabotage your business relationship with your sales website. I love sewing, mostly quilts, and I’m looking forward to seeing you work your magic on that dress!

    A theory: the seamstress didn’t attempt to take it in, she did. (Plus she probably did a *bustle)* One time use “take it” adjustments use threaded darts at strategic spots to make it look nice and fit without changing the seam. I can tell she was wearing it with something sewn in because of how those spots stretched out. (It probably wasn’t a big needle is what I’m saying) People do this all the time with RENTAL gowns/costumes and on set. I have actually purchased used costumes with the exact same damage (it was disclosed) from this practice. ❤

      That is exactly what she did; she had it sewn to fit for a one-off wearing. You are right to dispute it-you are NOT being a jerk.

    Hire or find volunteer to research national/regional and NV wedding records. Did she marry/elope earlier than stated to you? Could be proof dress was worn (intended to scam).

    I suggest you take close-up photographs from different angles of a dress before shipping it to a customer. In fact, I would send the customer all the photographs as evidence of the condition of the dress and institute a no-return policy. It took me two times to learn that I had to implement stringent policies in order to protect myself from scammers.

    I think/hope you can steam it so that the holes from the stitching will close. I don’t know anything about removing stains though. I hope you win the dispute.

    That definitely was "tampered with". If it wasn't, how did the stain get on there and how did that basting line get in there? Her friends will lie for her but the rest of us know the truth. I hope you win the chargeback. Absolutely ridiculous what you've had to deal with.

    So very sorry! You do beautiful work and don’t deserve to be treated this way. There are many good suggestions here about how to prove the nice condition you are sending and then allow no returns. Don’t let the bad apples take the fun and profit out of the way you earn a living. 💗

  • @TerriA96

    Sometimes people will bring the hem up by taking up the waist with a line of stitching (creating a horizontal fold on the inside of the dress that can be released later) this could probably also artificially enlarge the waist by raising up the upper hip circumference. You could hide the back with a shrug or jacket OR You could also put a bow/scarf/tie around the newly created waistline to hide the line in front and the fold bulge or gap at back.
    The stress of wearing it with body pressure would permanently mark the dress at the line of stitching as well.
    How awful. Why do people think we can’t tell when something was done with needle and thread?
    Experience snagging a silk you’re working with and you can’t unsee that.
    (Edited to add, I think one could even sew one line of stitching through a fabric tie, then lift the whole thing up (the stitches would disappear in a crinkle chiffon or organza belt) and tie to hold in place.)

    I knew it! It's a rude Bridexilla trying to return a worn item that she's damaged. I am keeping my fingers crossed that you're able to get something back because what she did to that dress and how she treated it is disrespectful. I look forward in seeing what you can do with this dress. I hope it can be saved, hopefully what she failed to have done to it can be undone and the mystery stain can be removed. this is an item returned damaged. shame on her for being greedy and double shame on her for what she did to the dress.

    I’m also a vintage clothing enthusiast and historian and I find in our community 99% of us are great. A lot of times on eBay or Etsy I will see a listing and someone will say “ I don’t know that much, or I guess this is 1940..etc” so I usually will explain, what the dress is, why it is, and then either buy it , or wish them a very happy day. I find so many new friends this way. Once in a while though, someone will KNOW their 1974 prairie Victorian revival with its polyester ruffles and plastic zipper is NOT authentic and should not be priced at $6000. That man first denied my findings and then told me to mind my own ( imagine much tougher phrasing) business”
    So twice out of hundreds isn’t bad
    I wonder if you could institute a zoom call needed for returns.?

      A real seamstress never would have used a large needle on silk fabric I as a novice sewer know that you don't use a large gauge needle on silk I can't even believe she did that and I noticed a little slit in that dress just above where she whoever whether it was her or somebody else put that line of stitching with that being said if you are planning on giving her any kind of a refund I would make it half of what the full price of the dress was to her originally because of it having the damage and because she didn't do her due diligence and the time and that it took you to take it to the post office paying for postage paying for the insurance you deserve at least to keep half if you're sending her any of that money back personally I would keep it because it has taken you time and pain and suffering and you stated full out what the problems were with the dress and there weren't that many and you also made it clear that there was no returns refunds or anything else about the dress so honestly she doesn't deserve the money back it would have been like anybody else that money is gone

    I say this not glibly ... I have watched this whole chapter unfold and at this point, just let it go. Wash the dress over and see what you can get for it. Although its been a business experience, its no longer worth the stress.

  • @victoriawestbrook36
    @victoriawestbrook36 6 месяцев назад +1

    She never wore the dress. I know the person and I've heard both sides... I'm hardly on here but have been sent your videos because you are being ridiculous! You can keep complaining but she requested for return within a week of recieving the dress which followed your policy. At least you haven't revealed her name for defamation character. She wanted a dress that worked, yours did not due to stains and shoulder size which you did not advertise. You are making this way bigger than it needs to be. Just resell it to someone else! Stay mad all you need to be but it really isn't that serious!

    • @RavenElise-yc7qn

      When she’s out $500 AND a ruined dress-I’d say that’s serious. Also we’ve all seen the before pictures. Your friend just needs to admit that she wore the dress and “stop being ridiculous”.

    • @victoriawestbrook36
      @victoriawestbrook36 6 месяцев назад +1

      Well she didn't so that would be a lie.... she is perfectly happy with her decision. She did nothing wrong, she followed her policy and her bank agreed. Especially with the proof and the fact it's not been disputed by the seller. Putting bad karma out there comes back tenfold especially when you are in the wrong. Best of luck in your day/night being pressed about a one sided story!

      @@victoriawestbrook36 you are correct. I have recently learned in an agonizing way that I must remember there are two sides to every story. My apologies!

    • @HobbyBobbins
      @HobbyBobbins  6 месяцев назад +53

      I did dispute this with her bank. They are currently investigating now and will make a determination as of the 19th of this month. I'm glad that you know she might not have worn it. What I can guarantee you is that this dress came back with all sorts of issues and in a condition I never would have sent it out. Your friend contacted me right before the expiration date for a refund and for a reason that is explicitly excluded from my return policy. She changed her story when she realized her reason for wanting to return it was not covered in my return policy and suddenly it had so many stains that, no matter what the size, she wouldn't be able to wear it. That is definitely misleading. I believe you if you say she didn't wear it, but please understand her stories changed. The bank has not yet ruled in her favor. None of the pictures I have of the gown prior to sending show seam damage, tacking, tears or stains of this magnitude. When I offered to work with shipping insurance to get your friend a refund because the only way it was stained in the way she said was from shipping, she wasn't willing to wait on that. I did my part to do right by this customer and currently I'm out $540 and my dress is ruined. Please do your best to understand the situation she put me in because of her impatience and for whatever happened between my ownership of the dress and hers. I haven't released her name and I have no plans to. To claim I'm making this bigger than it needs to be shows you may not understand the amount of work I put into my gowns and how thoroughly I inspect them.
      Your friends privacy is safe. I'm not a bully and I won't be sending hoards of people her way, no matter how many hundreds of people ask me to. I just ask that you think on the facts of this situation before you start telling me that my work, my livelihood and my reputation isn't that serious.

    • @avdotia452
      @avdotia452 6 месяцев назад +23

      No I don’t think she’s being ridiculous. Your friend clearly did not return the dress in the condition it was sent and had some botched or attempted altering which would be grounds for no refund. In addition she has caused the seller to lose business because of the chargeback. It is dishonesty at best and fraud on the buyers part at worst. I feel it is only fair that the buyer has to pay for the damage and restore the sellers status on Shopify platform.
