Vietnam was fun. We started in Hanoi and headed south to Saigon/Ho Chi Min. I really loved Da Nang and the beaches were spectacular there. It’s a very interesting country.

Ooh I hope you got to see / order/ learn from some of the awesome tailoring out there - Hoi An in particular is known for their cheap but quick & quality tailors!

I remember Montaldo's. I bought the dress for my 2nd wedding there. We were married outside by a lake, then a friend flew us away in his hot air balloon. Big poofy wouldn't have worked, so I bought something that looked appropriate...like a garden party. It was gorgeous! I look back in the photos and I know I did the right thing.

It’s been a minute but this reminds me of Elizabeth Taylor’s Wedding gown in Father Of The Bride.

May I ask why you went to Vietnam? Vacation?

That was a hugely long veil for the first one. The last one was very obviously worn at a Catholic wedding ceremony. It’s so reminiscent of of a Catholic mantilla that women and girls were required to wear to church in the first half of the 20th century.

It’s funny. The minute I saw the dress close up I said it’s made of parachute silk. I know this because my grandmothers dress was made of it. You confirmed it for me.

I’ve been there. My husband of 27 years ran off with a person who had been a long time friend of mine. I hated moving. It was actually my house, one I had bought and payed for myself but my ex refused to let me buy him out even at market price. He and his lawyer made me sell it and split the price. I have no idea why he did that. Anyway, eventually life gets better and we start anew. You’re young, very pretty and will do wonderfully on your own especially with the support from your lovely family. Just take it a day at a time.

That gown is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING....it breaks my heart that Heirlooms like this are let go of 😢. My BELOVED Grammy did not have a wedding dress when she married in 1943, BUT I have the BEAUTIFUL pink suit she wore!! Actually I've worn it a few times myself!!! FOREVER a TREASURE to me!!! I LOVE that you bring these Memories back to life!!!🩷💐
