I first heard these two at the Warwick festival in 2019. They literally came out of the audience to replace a performer who scratched last minute. They were incredible! Later they performed with their Melrose Quartet and then Nancy did a solo set. Between performances they were with their kids, part of the crowd but clearly first among their peers. English folk music at its best.
Wonderful...in my opinion they are the most brilliant and genuine Folk duo in England today. Listening to their beautiful music is such a blessed relief from the awful noise we are now bombarded with everywhere.
I can't possibly love this enough. Fantastic harmonies, fanTAStic lyrics, the viola in counterpoint to Nancy's singing... I just can't even. This song makes me remember falling in love with traditional music. It lifts my heart. Thank you.
I heard an arrangement of this done by the Towersey Festival Choir, lead by the brilliant Roger Jackson. And what made it particularly special was Nancy being in the audience, singing along with everyone else. A song which will always have a special place for me.
Brilliant song, brilliantly performed here. A pleasure to sing this masterpiece in a choir of 200 at the 2019 Towersey Fest. A pleasure to watch the Melrose Quartet in any performance. These fine folk would make a feast of singing the phone book; their timings are immaculate, their instrumentation superb.
One of their best songs together. Beautifully sung and played.

Agreed, they are so natural together. Although Sean Lakeman and Kathryn Roberts are as good.
This song is a masterpiece.
I agree. Just a wonderful song. And such an earworm!

These two perform effortlessly. Their sound is tight and relaxed. Intonation is absolutely first-rate. I am a Kerr, so what else can I say!?!
Nancy is beautiful

Well said...that's exactly what I think about the music of this wonderful duo.
Lovely voices, music, & imagery! And the tune is a real ear worm.... 😊
Such beautiful singing and playing . Many thanks Nancy and James

Nancy can sing for me anytime, it's a pleasure just to listen.
Lovely, fluid, tuneful singing and playing. Beautiful, Nancy and James.

Strewth, this is wonderful☺
I love these two :)
Lovely written and played, sounds like it was written a long, long time ago.
What a magnificent treat. Masterful and magical.
Gorgeous!
Truly folk masterpiece of first category.
wonderful - the whole album! :-)
wow..that is so good.
A serene voice.
Amazing!!
they play this song at disneyland all the time! The pirate band there does a really good version of it
FAB. reminds me of Maddy Prior...
Sooooo beautiful!!! But why no pipes? 😢
Kerr's voice is robust and utterly idiomatic. There is a sense of authenticity about her singing which is irrestlistable.
