100% Agree Lewis, and I'm glad somebody has released a vid questioning the board. As much as I respect then for everything they have done for the club, the lack of transparency from them and 2 very poor transfer windows has frustrated me beyond belief. I agree we might have stood a better chance of staying up had we been a bit more adventurous in January - 3-4 more players at least. I think the board are as stubborn as RE imo. They haven't adapted, meaning we aren't progressing as a club - they insist on freebies/ex-crocked players for the large part. Ppl can say Forest got lucky in terms of the wonders so far this season, but sometimes you do need to throw a bit of money at it, and increase that spendature as you can maintain premier league status. Perhaps this is might have been different had power court not be a priority? Would like some questions answered by the board - that's the least us PAYING fans deserve. For the record, I've been supporting luton since the mid 80s!
Good analysis. However, if the players aren't performing, for whatever reason, it's the manager's job to motivate them. Rob doesn't seem able to do this anymore.
Hi Lewis good points. The Board is coming over now as elite, smug, and arrogant these days the "luton family has imploded". The buck does stop with the Board. I believe also that the Board have a duty of care towards RE now. I agree on the losing mentality situation too. I also agree that on paper Luton have the players to fly high I the division but then look at Leeds who were odds on to romp the table this year and perform like Leicester last year.
There's a huge disconnect between the Board & fans. I believe GS had no intention of spending when we came down. Hubris led him to believe we were good enough for Championship football. Following a disastrous pre-season we were forced to make panic buys. I put much of this on a Board singularly focussed on Power Court. Decisions need to be made now, before we become mired in the relegation zone & lose our best players, in January.
There is a fragility with the mentality of the squad, the transfer situation started to go wrong when Paul Watson left for Swansea. We became indecisive on player recruitment looking at the difficulties of bringing in a new Goalkeeper to replace Horvath, I think we got lucky in the transfer window no one wanted Barkley and I suspected Aresnal were offering Sambi out. The board needs to get a grip of recruitment ts not solely Rob Edwards who recruits players its the recruitment of which Edwards is a part but player identification is done by others. Something needs to change quickly but who do you bring in when a lot of players heads have gone since our relegation and seem to have lost the fight. The Championship is an easy league to leave if your not up for the fight .
I think the board should back Edwards in the transfer market in January after the last 2 poor windows. Our issues are not just down to Edwards several players need to step up so that we can turn this round, for example the defence lacks the solidity we had 2 years ago when we had Lockyer, Osho and Bell playing regularly and grinding out 1-0 wins. There has been a big hangover from last season particularly with the injury issues we suffered since February and the lack of investment in robust, quality players means Edwards has been unable to overcome these problems. Also agree that certain players may think they should be getting moves to bigger clubs, notably Adebayo and Mengi and has affected their performances. Clearly the last 4 away performances have been particularly dire so that can't go on but recent better performances at home gives me hope we can turn this round in the coming weeks. There is no obvious replacement for Edwards at this stage apart from Robins who it's unlikely will want to get back into management so quickly after his long spell at Coventry!
I think, whether we keep RE or NOT, we need as MANY new players in during the transfer window as possible, to start off a 're-building job !! Not easy to bring players in of good quality during the Jan transfer window, but, I think the board, now, might have to put their hands in their pockets a little, and 'speculate' a bit !! 'Longer' term, I think there needs to be some BIG changes, because, I think we DO have players, who, perhaps in their OWN minds, think they are too 'good' to play for Luton Town, and, have bought into their OWN hype, who, might well be 'sulking' and NOT showing the right 'attitude', and 'approach' !! IMO, these players need to be 'shipped' out, and players come in, who, are going to show greater 'hunger' for the cause !!
In terms of loans during the PL season, I think because we had 2 season long loanees - Sambi and Issa, that was our lot under the rules. Bringing in Ross and Andros was genius so I think the boards hands were tied during the January window, as we couldn't loan and probably didn't have much cash in the bank. Either way, there certainly appears to be friction there. Some established players are still pissed at missing out on leaving the club and their agents have sowed these seeds of doubt. The team lacks pace, it lacks ball winners, it lacks a leader. Can you imagine if Nicholls or McNulty were in the side losing at Boro? They would have dragged the side to a respectable result. Our pre-season results should have sent alarm bells ringing. We lost almost all of them. Yes they were friendlies, but that hang over coming to the point of a side on a losing streak, clearly was there. My own feeling is that Edwards, if he stays, needs to grow a pair of balls and drop the under performers. Change the system and shape and if Rob can't or won't do that, then he must be let go. This high press, 3 centre back rubbish is clearly the reason why we have so many injuries and a team that simply cannot get to grips with it. There's been no announcement by Wednesday, so clearly Rob is here to stay and I just pray we have some serious changes by the time we kick off after the International break, otherwise the board need to answer some difficult questions, allowing this dross to continue.
I must also add, I don’t think it’s just Robs fault, in fact I hope the board back him and he stays. Osho is one that surprised me, did he demand more money? He was a class act and from our set pieces was always a danger.
Imagine had we signed Ben Sheaf, Rudoni, Cannon, and also given Joe Taylor a chance. Sheaf is exactly the leader we need now. Also the loan market has not been exploited.
Yeah, and the transfer window following relegation wasn't the most sensible one. Didn't pay off much, and now even our forwards might need to be swapped out this winter.
Surely, keeping Barkley was the impossible task. It's a premier league team that plays in the Champions League!! Even if we did forcefully keep him, he would not have the mentality to play for the team, he will be demotivated to be kept back from his full potential. Osho will also have motivational issues. He went to France, where he could play top division, against quality clubs like PSG, Monaco, Marseille, Lillie, etc. Then, Ogbene was given the chance to continue his Premier League career. Who would deny that opportunity?? He's injured now, apparently, but he still is a premier league player, not a championship player.
Ok I’m going to buck the trend here and not because I disagree with you Lewis but we’re all very upset at our current predicament no doubts. The manager and his team are in the spotlight add to this the players and now we’re aiming at the board! Burnley and Sheffield United could afford to spend because they already have Premier League money and excellent grounds which we do not. We the fans cannot divide over this current situation otherwise god help us all if our board should fall apart just as we’re reaching the goal of a lifetime. The New Stadium is everything without it we’ll forever be in the shit! I believe Edwards should go as he himself has indicated he’s done best. New manager has till Christmas to show us the current players can do the job if not it’s out with some and bring in the new. Please let’s not go after the board because of them we are financially sound and moving forward as a club let’s not go down the drainhole again! COYHatters ❤😂🎉
Chickens coming home to roost. Board haven't spent or contracted wisely, Edwards hasn't instilled discipline, board haven't set clear strategic direction, Edwards hasn't played to players strengths, board's communication appalling, Edwards decision making awful...etc etc. at the mo they deserve each other. And we're on our way to a shiny new stadium back in div 1/2.
Getting a bit cheesed off with this board, can they not see what is happening ,every fan can see that there is big problem with the manager and playing staff, they are acting like real amateurs, things have to change asap
Need to ship a few out. Edward's must of had a say in many good players that have left. He unfortunately has to go he has proven in so many games he cannot tactically think on his feet & has been outclassed by the likes of higgingbottom & robins & many more manager's who are able to adjust & change formations during play from a winning or losing position.

Bang on Lewis liked that mate BIG UP The LUTON MASSIVE

That’s because we had Barkley,,Kabore and Lakonga last season not this season and THATS probably what are Squad is missing they miss them 😢🧡💔

Hardest thing is getting players out of the building if they're under contract.
Last 5 prem games we didn't have enough players fit so I didn't expect us to get even the 1 point against Everton which we did !
Have to pay for quality players
I think some of them players do not want to play No More.Don't ask me why I don't know

We could've done oversees loans

I think Osho wanted to play in a more competitive league.
Deffo need some more players in January. Not ' also rans ' ...!!!
Imagine had we signed Ben Sheaf, Rudoni, Cannon, and also given Joe Taylor a chance. Sheaf is exactly the leader we need now. Also the loan market has not been exploited.
I think we've been too loyal to certain players.
@ I said a few weeks ago, his loyalty to some of them would get him the sack.
All good points
There are technical midfielders yet ball gets smashed forward at most opportunities? Doesn't make sense
It’s because, we don’t have technical defenders who are brave on the ball.
Barkley osho and obi left - that's a big loss which I don't think has been compensated . 🤔
Yeah, and the transfer window following relegation wasn't the most sensible one. Didn't pay off much, and now even our forwards might need to be swapped out this winter.
£10 mil for McGuiness! Should have paid to keep Barkley, Osho and Ogbene!

Barkley isn't turning down Villa. McGuinness deal is only 10m if he activates clauses.

Don't get me wrong, I love the board, I do find some decisions weird, but wouldn't want anyone else.
Chickens coming home to roost. Hard to get rid of certain players, as they're performing poorly.
I don't think Edwards got the players he really wanted. However, he's still culpable for performances
True and true. Top 10 squad this, needs to find a way.
