How do beliefs come together? I have engaged in an interesting sociological experiment talking to progressives to better understand the basis and assumptions of their beliefs. Although I was not surprised in general I did learn more about their beliefs in greater detail and it led to a better understanding of the foundation of human belief.

I often wonder whether older versions of 40k played a role in turning me based...
To be a man in such times is to be one amongst untold billions. It is to live in the cruellest and most bloody regime imaginable. Yet so long as there remains one of us still fighting, one who still rages in the name of justice and truth, then by the Allfather, the galaxy shall yet know hope.
That's true half of the time, and the other half of the time you're using wh40k as a reference on how to treat people, which doesn't sound like a good idea.

A healthy world view is with approached with humility and is tamed with real life experiences.
Totally agree too, its hard to have a productive conversation when the other person wants to win their argument.
My only real regret is spending so much time trying to convince people that couldn't be convinced. People are just hard wired to their way of thinking.
Some people are meant to be braindead sheep who pull levers sadly and the small minority that's left over are the people who can critically think and are higher in intelligence than the average mammal on Earth.

Imo they refuse to accept that biology plays a role simply because that means things are fundamentally unfair and unequal. You can't change things that are biologically hardwired. It simply goes against their religion of equality. Essentially they are in denial. Progressive liberalism was flawed from the start and is destined to fail long term.
Women's eternal ever asking to expand THEIR freedom, is not to do the hard things men already do, it is so as to CONTROL the hard things men already do, servants so to speak. That is their sort of freedom, the one where they get all the rewards of civilisation for a smile, and men get to serve them in all the necessary things that need to be done, that they cannot do, the HARD things.

Started bc I asked them why they load and load all those weights for women wound heavy bridges with the bar on the floor or smith machine, the women just look at them and smile.
I stand there looking and the women look at me, and they KNOW that I KNOW WTF is gong on...
They touch the guys' arm and say thank you...
So in our men talk I said I would NOTTTT lift a finger for a woman just for a soft touch on my arm, either put out, or do it yourself, and that is only until I get in her pants, not forever... they disagreed. LOL.
The women were close by TRYING to hear our talk, but I guess the men went and simp and told the women what I said ---> things are bit tense and weird at my gym now for me... I know it is not my imagination, I see women whispering between them and looking at me as they do it, ugly faces and all, I pretend I don't see them.
We'll see what happens next, something gonna break, I sense it.

They want the positions of control and power, not the hard position of DOING hard things... last harsh storm I didn't see a single woman fixing anything, I saw plenty standing pitifully around looking at men in angst low key asking for help, and if any man did ask Is everything ok, they immediately go on a long necessity driven tirade telling him all the things"someone" needs to fix. As I was walking to the store, there was a woman with her car hood up, she kept trying to make eye contact, as I went by I did make eye contact, saw the engine, looked back at her and kept going, never asked her if I could help her, that was intentional so as to not simp instinctively when another more urgent things comes along.
In the gym I teach and help MEN, and look at women like they are nuts if they ask for help... Go ask a bear for help madam.

The economic conditions right now are a lot like they were in the 70s. We can come back from this but only if we get a period of time, like with Reagan's 1st term where we, at the very least, cap government spending. If that doesn't happen then we'll get to a point where the interest on our debt exceeds the amount of tax money the government receives. At the point, the government will not be able to hide that they're out of money any longer, all the welfare will stop, and the big cities will turn into effective warzones.

I've come to the same conclusion, there isn't a point in discussing these topics with these types of people. I used to have some friends and I remember we were discussing why people are attracted to certain things. They completely denied the idea that attraction has any ties to biology, instead it all came down to randomness and what was currently in fashion without realizing that things only come into fashion because certain biological impulses combined with changes to the environment cause attraction to certain things. It was so bizarre to me that they actually thought the reason why men and women want to boink each other is because of what they see on the tv and not because we have innate biological impulses and goals as a living species. I used to want to hear other people out but after years of never being given the same opportunity to be heard that I have given others, I have given up on it. Unless the person I'm speaking is a known quantity to me and I can trust that they are able to discuss things without letting some dogmatic worldview get in the way, I simply just don't get involved. It's frustrating and tiring to try and talk with someone who has no interest in actually hearing you out or has the capacity to understand that what they believe could be wrong.
Social narrative's are created primarily due to Biology. I tend to refer to this as a Biological Narrative

It's a known fact that the brain has solutions to problems which pop up in environments, and that the ways and methods of which it procures solutions to these problems/environments can only be alluded to through use of trends, which are subject to change, not to say we can't draw parallels which are practically useful in a certain number of replicable situations. If you think human beings are that predictable, we're not. We are stuck on this double sided hill, and it's fundamentally unknowable fully.

Socialisation is a product of biology.
Progressivism is basically a religeon. This is the most important thing to understand about progressivism.
Socialization is facilitated greatly by mirror neurons, that being that some parts of our biology play bigger roles in socialization than others. The surreal thing about mirror neurons is how easily it is to empirically test for oneself. Pick a television show, any television show and mirror the characters for an hour - you will literally absorb some of their personality quirks on an unconscious level - and you will sometimes feel stuff that you never felt before.
Progressives are just another batch of obnoxious fire and brimstone types who rage whenever something that doesn't fit their world view is revealed. Like as you said, a form of secular religious fundamentalism. I find progressives to be extremely intellectually inflexible.

Yes because the root prognosis inherent to "Leftism" is in fact genetically based, not sociopolitical in nature. It is a result of mutational overload over several decades, older fathers, and a lack of selection pressure which was once common standard to our great grand parents. Usually when periods of this nature occur, our species overcorrects with culling, whether that be war or some other catastrophic loss of life. In any case, this is nothing good we should celebrate, we need to be properly motivated by fear, otherwise we too will get swept up in the aforementioned catastrophe. Freedom for most of human history has only meant the ability to defend ones ground and person from others. This has been drilled out of many young American brains, thus making us the most vulnerable sitting ducks on the face of the modern planet.
Basically, talking to anyone about politics in any capacity is a waste of time. The right is JUST as stupid as the left.

The economy is great if you're rich. The economy is trash if you're poor. It's mediocre if you're middle class. All the money is traveling upwards, so overall it's doing terribly. It's not sustainable.

Some people may not take that route even if they have the option to. Some people also like to live by their own means. And some people never even stood a chance to begin with.
In reality, the people at the very top are making the equivalent of a living income for several million people. One person's wealth will cause millions of others to lack a living wage. This isn't some "pull your bootstraps up sonny" sort of situation that you're making it out to be. This is a non-functional system that WILL collapse in the long term.

I do think biology has the most affect on us, socialization can affect us, but is miniscule compared to biology and genes.
Socialization can have a profound effect on a person, so long as that person is in a conducive environment that reinforces said socialization.
But if a person leave said conducive environment, their biological will slowly override their socialization for a more natural disposition.
Socialization can win over genetic disposition, so as long as the necessary social engineering is present.
But yes, outside this social engineering genetic is entirely superior, and always supercedes what was programmed before.

I think biology and genes are shaped by the environment, the environment + biology and genes shape culture, then culture shapes biology, genes and the environment. They influence one another holistically.

Biologist here. Our behaviour and preferences are absolutely affected by our biology. There's no doubt about it. To say that it's all social conditioning is ignoring so much of what we know about biology. Granted, humans are one of the most "programmable" species to have ever existed, but we're not immune to innate programming and the influence of our hormones etc. Think of the mood swings that some women get during their time of the month ....and then realise that we're all controlled by those factors all of the time. You just don't notice it because it's always there and you're used to it. Men and women. Whether your body produces a lower or higher amount of developmental hormones when you're growing up can drastically change how you end up behaving later in life. You can modify behaviour with self control and conditioning but that doesn't mean the underlying differences aren't there, and that exertion of effort (conscious or not) isn't needed to maintain a lot of the changes. A lot of these hyper progressives are the new puritan zealots ....their belief overriding all, paying no heed to science or indeed, just evidence, and woe to anyone who dares challenged their belief.

I think you make a basic assumption mistake. You believe the others who have other opinions than yourself base it on proof. Their whole belief system is based on the idea that proof is not needed in order to have that belief. Otherwise you wouldent need to have this discussion with them. And since they dont need any proof to sustain their ideas, its a waste of time to have a discussion.

I have experience dealing with the "finatic" or "zealot" mind, I grew up in a household like that after all. I've seen the positions held by these people wane and change over the years. (Hey people have every right to do that) however, I never hear a concession that they were ever wrong. I've a natural good defense against radicalized thinking, but I don't know where I sit in the "political spectrum"(nor do I really care) yet I keep finding myself trying to reason with people who simply won't be reasoned with. It's all or nothing. And when(eventually) their prayers fail, instead of realizing something, it's the ENTIRE WORLD or "unseen evils" has to be against them. There's never a thought of "maybe I'm wrong" and it's frustrating to deal with tbh. Which brings me to the question of how much of this religion is holding them together? Do they need it to survive? To not suffer a psychological break? Is it mental illness that prevents them from seeing the truth? A comfortable lie they tell themselves in order to keep whatever sanity they have held together with glue and duct tape?
My mother has brain cancer,yet her belief in this God figure has gotten to the level of some "Heavens Gate" or "Jonestown" stuff. It's absolutely insane,the things I hear coming from her mouth, alluvasudden saying a cuss word is "summoning a literal curse" upon her. When all of her speaking in tongues and worship didn't work and her cancer was still there (unsurprisingly) it's not that "magic" isn't real.. it's that this "God" figure is simply testing her. She's losing her mind over this, I just hope she doesn't stop doing her treatments because she gets a wild idea to "fully lean into God", it's already horrifying seeing what I'm seeing, I can't imagine how I'd react to her doing that to herself. She's a sick woman, the tumors are really messing with her. Yet religion actually gets talked about in a serious manner,when the stakes are this high,the life or death of the woman that brought me into this world is treated as some kinda "test".. it's sickening.. disgusting..
I don't know if I can save her,do I remain true to myself and try to battle her? My rationality vs her "Faith"? Or do I adopt a mask and attempt to subtly influence her actions by saying "God told me X, therefore you should do it." Either way,both these scenarios feel...wrong.. Why does it follow that the physical size of creation has anything to do with the viability of a creator being concerned with the created beings within?
I reckon a limited creator would only be able to pay attention to a finite amount of things.

If most people had this idea in the back of their mind that they might be wrong about the certain issues we wouldn't have so much wars, we wouldn't be so mean to eachother, and science would take priority over everything and people would think more critically and more long term making better decisions for the humanity.
Confidence used to be a good thing in the past where you were the alpha of the tribe trying to take more for yourself and for your family and tribes.
However in this point of history and time critical long term thinking just has to take priority over excessive confidence in your own ideology, but from the looks of it, the opposite is happening.

The value of a belief is found in the objectively measurable results generated in the exercise of that belief. How well does the belief comport with reality? Is it grounded in reality or is it a free-floating bit of unfalsifiable feel-good fluff? Carrying a belief requires the expending of some measure of resources. Mentally checking the quality of a belief is straightforward -- just ask the question "how's that working for you?" Example: my parents believe that their children have an obligation to periodically call and visit them. And yet, my sister does neither. I ask my parents "how is that belief working for you?" This upsets them and yet they hold strong to that belief, in spite of its being untethered to reality. Another Example: look at the emotion-driven climate-change-alarmist ... this person shovels years of their life into defending The State Narrative -- only much later, they discover the deceit and look back on their lost youth -- self-medication to cover their loss is one remedy -- one of many methods to create a drunk. It's far easier for The State to create and peddle a Narrative that convinces the young to throw their lives away than it is to actually build gulags. I believe that I will climb some mountains in the Pacific Northwest next weekend and enjoy a few Chinese Buffets with birds-of-a-feather . . . climbing a large bit of rock covered with snow and ice -- literally grounded in Earthly Reality. To be fair, people can't really update or change their beliefs in real time. Much like true learning, it's a glacial thing. Epiphanies are the rare RARE exception, not the rule. Changing one's beliefs is a quiet thing and often sneaks up on you without you even being aware of it. And, it's often DEEPLY uncomfortable. I don't begrudge people not being able to change within whatever timeframe I may want/wish them to. I can't.

There are some videos I watched from the channel "What is politcs?" The owner of the channel is left wing. However, I did finally get one good theory on how patriarchy came in. It not perfect, however it seems more posable to the "we are just equal but men just dominated women" narrative. One condition that may have gave men an advantage in power dynamics was animal husbandry. It put the interest of those societies on men having groups and later authorities. I do think he was not getting into how the sexual dimorphism happens in the first place. However dispite that it seems more sound than many other theories. He also gets into how feminism came up as, communication technology (like the phone) help women start networks. I think he also got into the pill and household compliance as othere technologies that helped give an advantage.
It would be interesting to see you talk with him. Heads up he is a lawyer, if you plan to debate him.

It's biologically advantageous to either believe in equality or else to be an NPC and believe in equality because you were taught it. Which possibility is true I am not certain. well it’s pretty obvious that its some sort of mix. Women are more likely to desire social jobs in which you care or mentor others. this is probably because women are, biologically speaking, gonna have more empathy. I think its the same thing with men and physically jobs. its the male evolutionary benefit to chase physical jobs. the socialization, i believe, simply further specifies which route they may take. Due to, usually financial constraints, a woman may work at a daycare instead of a nurse. Both jobs aline with women’s biological biases towards care work, but are separated by educational opportunities, and money. Same with men and something like working as a low level maintenance man vs owing a whole plumbing business. Men and women have biological biases towards different profession types, and their financial opportunities decided at which level they can peruse these professions. i don’t believe racism or sexism plays as big a role in this conversation as the socioeconomic disparity we see today does. Just more reason we need to take more money from the 1% and give it to social programs which give poor people the opportunity for better jobs and education.
Taxation of the 1% doesn't work because the money keeps flowing back to them eventually. They have more resources to devise systems who benefit them. This is what power is, and why it is more important than money.

I don't think women have more empathy, at least towards men. Even their lack of physical strength is negated by the fact that they can hurt in a much more inconspicuous and effective way by emotional manipulation.
That's really funny that you think taking from those at the top will help balance things out. The pareto distribution will always win, and nothing will ever be equal.
