bowser’s punish game is crazy at a low level. you click one button and get 20 percent. if your opponent doesnt know what they’re doing, bowser will carry you a few games into bracket. (sincerely, a new england player)

the scariest part is that it's online
@@sir.castik5637 There's not a single Kazuya online or offline that doesn't buffer their EWGF's except in very niche scenarios (like downthrow into EWGF when it just sends into tumble). Why does that even matter? You still have to do the same close to frame perfect inputs to get the EWGF

@@axis6333 tbf it’s difficult to play light combo characters online because lag fucks up ur execution and makes it easier to get punished which is more detrimental to them

Honestly playing bowser in melee is fucking FUNNNNN. In the gaming club at the college I’m in, there’s always a couple of guys playing melee and even though I’ve only played melee twice, its still fun as hell

Falcon, Ness, Palu, ROB, and Wolf were already everywhere. Cloud got buffed so he went back to being everywhere.
So was Joker, especially around 2020 with Leo Maining the character. Bowser surprised me but was not uncommon. Only Aegis and Steve really

Bowser got a massive glow up since Melee
When you think about it, it’s even more impressive to know that some top players such as Tweek, Light or Glutonny mostly perform with a single character that you don’t see really often.
Edit : Tweek is not a great example, I know he plays multiple characters but he is to me known as the best Diddy Kong.

He's not talking about patch-to-patch, he's talking about game-to-game. Cloud's been nerfed (from Smash 4).
Or in other words, the most recent *patch* might've been a buff but the most recent *game* was a nerf. It's weird because you can say "Cloud was buffed" and "Cloud was nerfed" and you'd be right depending on the time frame you're talking about.
Kinda like saying "I have less money" if I'm talking about the $20 I just misplaced, and "I have more money" if you overall earned more money this year.
I specialized in English back at school so this kinda stuff always fascinated me. It's really counter-intuitive sometimes

@@RedBookBag420 Heavies are in the best place they've been for any smash game, but they certainly aren't good.
No heavy has ever won a major tournament because in a combo based game speed is worth far more than every other stat. Yes a heavy can take 25% more than most characters per stock, but that advantage is negligible when they also take 25% more percent per combo, and have very few combos themselves.
I remember bowser being THE "I have no braincells but want to still play the video game" character back in like 2019 but I'm shocked he's still this popular
These results are counting every tournament and Bowser is a good local character.
@@RedBookBag420 heavies are not good 💀 bowser is the only good heavy because of the sheer amount of bullshit he has that every other heavy (except probably charizard) doesn't. his strengths and tools are like ACTUALLY FUCKING INSANE too but he still is only barely high tier at best because the drawbacks of being a heavy are just way too much in this game, that and the devs don't really know how to design heavies either. tbh in my opinion he's the only well designed heavy
i'd be surprised if this was that accurate. Ness and Bowser being above Fox, Sephi, Mario, Pika... totally shocked

What a suprise. A character that can alter the stage is played disproportionately higher than any character in the game.
I use tanky spirits with bowser which makes it harder to get flung I use beast ganon and gold mario

Ive seen a smash tounament live and those air to opponent missile ness's are a force to be reckoned with when your high percentage
steve is too powerful, he can stop time, alter the very world with command blocks, instantly kill anything, and he can even hold 24 octillion pounds in blue ice, no wonder he's the top smash pick.
I would love to see a breakdown of this compared to the top 10 characters based on top 8 appearances

Important fact here is counting the amount of games played not the amount of persons who use the character. Is curious because if a lot of X character join to a tourney and lost on first matches just will add 2 games but if you win the tournament will add a lot more

Too boom or bust for most people. Everyone plays him online where they can one and done people, but in tournament it's either BO3 or BO5 and if they catch on to your mashing and are willing to take risks Roy can get blown up right back.

My three characters that I play the most are numbers 2, 3, and 4.
Bowser has come a long way from the worst character in Melee to one of the most popular in tournaments
as someone plays little mac, i've lost to all of these once.
I wasn't expecting Steve, in fact I was trying to guess and I had ruled out Steve completely, from what I understand he is banned from many tournaments
The dlc characters are so much stronger than the base cast that often when I play with friends we make a silent oath to not pick one
I was expecting Pikachu to be up there but other characters I play were up the being Bowser, cloud, and joker

This metric is from ALL players, not just like the top players. If you watch pools you'll see Jokers and Pakus and bowsers everywhere
