Excellent video. There are a lot of videos about the parts of this, but this video gives a look at the system as a whole and how those parts fit together.
Excellent presentation... thanks for taking the time to do it. I am new to digital radio. I have D-Star up and running on an Icom 9700
I think I am ready to pick up a Yaesu FT3DR for my HT. I like the fact the I am adding Fusion to my digital modes.
This video helped me understand the Wires-X vs FCS.
Thanks for all of your videos Pascal!
Thanks for watching. 73 Pascal VA2PV
your videos are excellent! So much hard work and I appreciate it :)
Thank you Matthew. Just hope my English could be better ;-) 73 Pascal VA2PV
Laboenligne.ca no! Love the accent just the way it is! :)
Thank you, man. I watched your video and got a lot of information. In the club there are DMR clusters and Fusion clusters, and of course epic analog clusters. Previously we were going to share audios with fusion, DMR and analog repeaters with a home-brew controller to solve the problem. Now you give me an alternative but interesting idea. In fact, if DVmini or OpenSPOT could detect the mode automatically, the most ideal solution would be this one introduced by you.
You need to setup manually the mode, both the DV4mini or the OpenSPOT will not detect the mode automatically. 73
Merci Pour ces infos bien utiles! 73
Very informative video, thanks you...
Thank you Pascal. This was very helpful to me and I've been doing Dstar, DMR and Fusion a few years. 73 Brady K0UC
Great, thanks for letting me know. 73 Pascal VA2PV
Very helpful
Great job on this video! 73, k3uga
Thanks Pascal
Very informative video, thanks for posting this!

Very informative video! Thanks for the lesson! KG5YUC
thx a lot for the nice presentation! i have a question that with 2 openspot devices is it possible to make spot to spot communication?
Yes it's possible, see my latest OpenSPOT video. 73 Pascal VA2PV
Great video Pascal. I'm researching how to create the relation between Brandmeister Talk Group and a YSF reflector. Do you have any info about?
Hi Ivan, unfortunately no. I have an OpenSPOT that work on both but it work independently. 73
Laboenligne.ca thanks anyway!
Q: my local 2m repeater has wires-x enabled. We use Virginia wide through the wires-x network. How do I connect to wires-x Virginia wide on my zumspot? All I’m seeing is fcs00246 Virginia and it’s not working with that repeater. Bridge needed??
Hi need help how to build the image for raspberry-pi 3 + so I cam make YSF reflector for the fusion DRIX repeater and hri200
You should look for a RPi 3 image for your device since there's a lot of images out there. 73 Pascal VA2PV
If i am using DMR with an Open Spot thru FCS003 port01 how do i know where to connect too, to talk to my buddy who is monitoring a System Fusion Repeater....In other words would i need to know what room his Fusion Repeater is connected too?
Would he have to tell me what room he is connected too? Just purchased a FT-70DR but returning it due to a defective battery, so i will get a full refund back and i was thinking of grabbing a Open Spot with refund since i go several DMR Radios here
Sincerely,
Lou

can you control a wires'x repeater through a SPOT connection?
hi like the video but still trying to work out the best radio to buy, as i have been out of HAM for over 14 years and need to work out a radio that can work for me, so i am not left behind
i looked at the as it and looks to be a
there the next on the list i am looking at that is nice the
ICOM IC-2730A but no digital as i know its just has a nice face display
ICOM IC-5100A has digital but i dont know if it has all protocols.
yaesu FT-8900 has wire X, entry level in to digital radio has 10m, 6m 2m 70cm
yaesu FTM-100DR 2m, 70cm
yaesu FTM-400XDR 2m, 70cm
hope you can help
Hello all, I have a dx1 repeater on vhf R on 144.2125 and T on 145.9625 is ther a hot spot that will get my repeater on a reflector? help
Pascal
Tu n'aurais pas ta video ici en français ?
Elle est super bien faite pour les débutant et je voudrais m'en inspirer pour expliquer DMR et C4FM aux membres de mon club

what is the wattage on the SharkRF?
20mW. 73
It looks like the frequencies are backwards on the Wires-X network slide on the right side repeater pair....
Hi, I just verified and that's normal, the radio TX frequency is the RX frequency of the repeater and vice vers ça. 73
12:30 is when he is talking about. both the ht and the repeater have the same tx and rx. cannot talk to repeater when you are transmitting to the output. both tx is 443.775 and recieve on both is 448.775. just noticed this. You got the repeater itself backwards. should be tx:448.775 rx:443.775. just had to help out here. 73, ad0am
You're right Adam, I did an overlay annotation with RUclips, but this is not visible for mobile platform. 73
Thanks again for putting all this info on the internet so people like me can understand this more clearly. keep em coming.
Bonjour,
L'avez vous pas faite en français ?

The only question that remains is....where are the FCS reflectors/gateways/rooms
I host the FCS003 in Montreal. Usually it's available on every hotspot (OpenSPOT, DV4mini, etc.). 73
I still think D star is a lot more user friendly than Wires X.
From my point of view they are very similar but very different at the same time. Both of them are easier than DMR because they were develop for amateur radio used, and not the other way around. 73 Pascal VA2PV
I have both, love both. But getting on a reflector on Dstar, or just a Dstar repeater in my area is as easy as one button on my ICOM ID-5100 compared to my Yaesu FT-991A. Wish for my handheld or FTM-400 wires x repeaters were also readily available such as in my ICOM 5100.
Wire connection should not be part of ham radio as this is not true wireless communication and will FAIL at an emergency. you want to go digital get a smart phone. lol cheaper option .
Internet linked repeaters aren't intended for emergency operations. They're just for fun.
