I spent 10 hours trying to figure something out in vanilla, with auto start the loader when gold is put in the chest. Watched countless RUclips videos and after I found this I was finally able to get everything sorted out and have a clean looking perfect functioning bartering farm. Loading gold and flipping a single switch is what I settled for. Thanks for the help!
if you put a piston on a constant tick moving gold ingot ore. it agros the piglins and they insta trade. they can get rid of 9 stacks in less than a second
Another update victim, the piglins pick up the gold at a drastically reduced rate. In order to sustain this particular design, you're going to need item filters that will funnel the gold that leaks through back into the input chest.
Actually, if you set up a sticky piston attached to a gold block, in view of the piglins, every time the piston moves the gold block, they trade again, so one tick trades :)
Still works in 1.21 on Xbox. I had to put a solid block above piglins, to get them into the chamber. W/o it, they glitched out on top of the glass. Thanks a lot
I was having the same issues report here post-update with the Piglins missing the gold perhaps 75% of the time... I was able to more-or-less solve this by removing the carpet on top of the hoppers. They don't catch 100% of the time, but they didn't before either with the carpet. This change has SIGNIFICANTLY improved rates after the update. Nothing else I tried improved rates, including locking the hoppers -- the Piglins just ignored the gold sitting on the carpet. Your mileage may vary but I've had good results with this change thus far.
If anyone else is losing a lot of gold into the system because it keeps missing a Piglin, here is how I fixed it: Move the droppers behind the upper body of the Piglins instead of above them. Then, using a piston push a glass block to encase the upper body of the Piglins (don’t forget to break the trapdoor). The Piglins will pick up the gold every time without fail and they will drop their items straight down so you won’t have to worry about placing blocks next to the hoppers and items getting stuck on the edge. The only problem I’ve noticed with this fix is when I log back into the game the Piglins feet glitch into the hoppers. If this happens, all you have to do is give them a little punch to get them back in position. Hope this helps!
So the new update has done something to how the piglins interact with the gold ingots. Before the update out of the 16 piglins I have in the farm, maybe one wouldnt pick up an ingot, now its closer to 3/4 of them dont pick up the ingots
Same! I'm replying here to hopefully get some help (although no interactions are very recent). Sometimes 2 piglins pick up gold, sometimes one, sometimes 6. And to top it all off, one dropper NEVER gets gold in it.
@@elizabethleann7809 i managed to fix it myself. Run a redstone line from the clock to repeaters facing into the hoppers with each repeater on a 4 tick delay
@@mathewdavis3129 This. The timing ends up perfect. I was getting 1 trade per 64 ingots before. After adding repeaters into the hoppers at the piglins feet, I now get 100% trade rate. Thanks for the helpful suggestion!
So I built 2 of these in my survival world with only 6 piglins in each of the 2 modules so 12 piglins in total. I've seen in your comments that an update made it so they aren't catching the gold every time anymore. I have a weird thing happening between my 2 modules. The 2 modules are built exactly the same except one small difference that they are mirror images of one another for uniformity in my build. So the only visible difference is that the trap doors are opened facing the opposite direction in each module. I copied my world so I could go into creative without ruining my world, and filled both modules with gold ingots in creative because I haven't built my gold farm yet. What I found was interesting, but I can't really explain the why it happened that way. The module on the left side of the doorway the trap doors open to the right side of the piglin, and after a half hour the 6 piglins missed a total of just over 4 stacks of ingots that fell into the system. In the module on the right side of the doorway the the trap doors open to the left side of the piglin, and in the same half hour the 6 piglins missed only a total of 18 ingots that fell into the system. That is a significant difference in missed ingots, and as I said it doesn't make any sense considering the only difference between the modules is the orientation of the trap doors being opposite of one another.
Trapdoors are not just to keep the piglins in place, it also makes sure that the gold dispensed collides with the hitbox of the piglin. Without it the gold may hit the floor and piglins are terrible in path finding on carpet.
Jack I just built this on my testing world and I’m actually having trouble with that. One Piglin keeps missing the gold almost every other time it is dispensed, and it isn’t always the same Piglin. It looks like the gold glitches through the trapdoor and into the cell next to it. Have you experiences this or do you have any ideas?
@@Bro2189 I have built a system with a solid block in between to prevent that. I just posted a vid about it. Beware of a bug that makes piglins ignore gold blocks thrown at them. I used carpet but the gold is still being sucked up for some reason Okay I got it. So if anyone else is having this problem, make sure there are no blocks surrounding the hoppers. That is very important apparently
You probably could, I’ll have to see if silent whisperer’s design still works. Probably didn’t need such a long response but anyways 😂
Yeah, good point, I actually know how to make an item filter, but in overworld, I m gonna try and do a storage for the stackable ones and then another big one for non stackable. @@Michael-McCollum the amount o items u get for this farm is just too overwhelming for just hoppers. It s going to need some sort of pusher with slime blocks beside the item filters.

I got 2 netherite hoes from it in less than hour of starting and couple double chests full which is great and i wanna know is there anyway to use them other than just tilling soil ??
No matter what i try I cant get the piglins to pop into the cage, its like the carpet is stopping them, and then when i try from above I cant place the dispenser back and when i spawn an egg all i get is babies
There is a bug if you place blocks next to the hopper (with carpet) the piglin stands on. The piglin seems to ignore any gold thrown at it. Try stacking two hoppers and it may be fixed. I suspect it is related to a path finding bug. It fixed it for me. If you want it to empty the top hopper really quick, you can stack a hopper, a hopper minecart (on rails), and another hopper.
