Which makes it even sadder that in The Cult of the Lamb, this isn’t really an option. From what we see, the world is basically inhospitable, with sacrificial cults running rampant , dangerous wildlife, and very little safe food or water. Society has obviously crumbled, most people being left to fend for themselves, with none of them having notable survival skills. From what we see, joining this cult may quite possibly be the only viable way left to survive.
When I get this game, i'm going to name my cult "freindship" and attempt to make the least cultiest cult I can. I don't like playing the villain in games, and this video reframes the whole game into something way more unsettling than it looks.

The lands of the Old Faith are dangerous, and there are very few places within it that are safe, and the ones that are still have the risk of being attacked by zealots of the Bishops. The Lamb's cult is the only place in the game for normal people that is truly safe. Also, depending on how you play, the Lamb's cult can be more community than a cult. You can give them unique clothing, unique beds, you can teach them to handle tasks (mostly) on their own. You can teach them good morals, you don't have to sacrifice them, you can be a leader that truly does have their best interests at heart. But make no mistake, how Cult of the Lamb portrays running a cult barely scratches the surface of what it is to actually be in a cult in real life. A cult will try to rob you of your money, your individuality, and maybe even your life. Don't let them.
I felt the need to share my cult name and why I named it that. I called it Hollowvine, I originally got the name from when I was trying to mix Halloween and valentines day, I originally got to Hallowtine, Then Hollowvine
