  • The Pipiwai Trail is a 3.5 mile hike located in Haleakala National Park in Maui, Hawaii. Located just south of Hana on the southern half of the island, this is a stunning hike. The hike through the rainforest and thick bamboo ends at beautiful Waimoku Falls. We added on the Seven Sacred Pools to make a 4.7 mile lollipop loop. This was one of our favorite hikes during our time on Maui.

I tore my ACL on this hike in 2021. It was a beautiful hike and an adventure getting out of there. Thank goodness I didn't need a helicopter lift. ~Kelli

Was there 2 weeks ago with my family : did the trail, visited the 7 pool did Hana highway Longway route and scenic route . stayed over night back etc., Did the red sand , black sand beach , Koke beach, : Local advice: 1. Never turn your head or self against the ocean and tide . 2 the pools are close due to deaths not lawsuits 3. Stay in Hana for at least over night 4. Never swim in any waterfalls or pools when the sky is dark or it's raining due to un predicted landslide which causes death and people being washed away to the ocean

I stood under those falls a couple years ago. Not near as much water coming down them when we were there in October. Couldn’t help but wonder if a rock was going to land on my gourd.

Would you recommend this walk for kids (12y.o & 7y.o)?

I don't see why not - just bring the gear I mention and know its a longer day and they will have a blast.

You should take your lady friend more and let her give some female specific advice to audience. So much hiking and adventure content is male specific. Could broaden your audience. Good video like to see the new terrain.

Appreciate the feedback - Jackie isn't' really an "on camera" kind of person, so while she has joined me for a number of hikes - her being on camera is probably not in the cards. Always love having her on a hike though because do agree that we need more female viewers on this channel
