phew, that’s just what I needed on March 18, 2020 when anxiety and fear has gripped the globe...it transports me to a higher plane of peace and serenity...
I keep looping this song because in my life I've never heard anything as beautifully angelic as this. I'm in the verge of crying each time and I listen to music about all types of music and this broke me.
I've been listening to this beautiful masterpiece for almost 4 years now and i still feel the chills all over my body, its like I'm levitating. I hope they should post amazing videos again.❤️
When I was just a child, I was put into a nun's college (4 from 11 years - refugee from WW2) and I, we were educated into a very strict catholic ambient - normal in those years (50/60ties) and we participated to all and every major church events, Missa Cantata, Missa Solemnis, and till now I do not regret che music, the chants, the odour of incense even if I'm not a believer, now. (In Italy)
@@nessuno1948 When have you heard Gregorian chant with triad in melody? Also, which "Missas" are you referring to? The first complete ones are from middle of XVIth century (Palestrina: Missa Papae Marcelli; Missa aeterna Christi munera), where "Gregorian chant" was long considered obsolete.
@@cetterus I am not an expert in music: I remember what I remember of those years, one of wich was Josquin Des Prez sacred music. (Because in later years I've researched it) Gregorian or not, it was a blessing for the soul.
This a very beautiful and calming arrangement. Very gentle and sweet. I was surprised at how much Cantus Vevo altered the original. They changed the chant totally. They didn't sing anything more than the first line of the hymn. This is one of the most powerful songs written. It's ancient. It's actually very masculine, if I can say that. It's a desperate and stirring plea for peace in a world weary with sorrow and strife of war.. None of that anguished longing came through in the peaceful and pretty rendition. The Gregorian chant is absolutely mesmerizing and while this one is lovely I urge people to look it up as it was originally written and listen. It's also not hard to find translations into English from the Latin. 💖
My Grade 7 teacher taught us a version of this chant. It was just the first line in four part harmony, with a soulfull alto lead, followed by a followup tenor, joined by a bass sounding the beat with Pacem, Pacem, Pacem and ending with a desperate soprano - the whole thing repeated as long as you want. I've never forgotten it. For some reason, I thought it was some modern ecumenical sentiment, but I see now that it is ancient. Also, the line went "Done (prounced doen-eh, dona) and Pacem (pronounced Pakem, not Pachem.)
Just Norway. This is what it looked like here two weeks ago, but it warmed up a bit and melted into a muddy mess now. Supposed to be a mild winter this year though so I dont think we will see much of the white stuff down by Oslo unfortunately
I accidentally press a button and the song started playing, its actually a great song. The harmony is beautiful and peaceful. The Vocal is amazing. Great job ladies💝❤
THAT was absolutely beautiful!!! May the Precious Blood pour into each and everyone's heart who were involved in producing this peaceful message to the world. God love you for sharing.😊🇨🇦
Dona nobis pacem (Latin for "Grant us peace") is a phrase in the Agnus Dei (Latin for "Lamb of GOD) section of the mass. The phrase, in isolation, has been appropriated for a number of musical works, which include: Dona nobis pacem, a traditional canon.
@@lanettedavidson A 'musical canon' is a compositional technique that uses a melody and one or more imitations of that melody played after a specified time interval. The imitations can occur at the same pitch (unison) or at a different pitch, and in the same note values, longer note values (augmentation), or shorter note values (diminution). The original direction of the melody can also be reversed, so that the imitation is read backward (retrograde), or the intervals can move in the opposite direction (mirror), or both (retrograde mirror). ~ Be Safe out there ~ Peace & Health to Us All.
Such an appropriate song for our world going into this new decade of 2020. The photography is stunning! The traditional garb is beautiful. And I love Norway!
Peace does not exist without the Prince of Peace- the Lord Jesus Christ. Even if ypu disagree I suggest you read the Bible yourself and don't just take any person's word. Be well informed by the source material. May the LORD of the Bible give you HIS peace.
Thanks for reminding me what it means. I'm ashamed to say I've sung it more than once and taught it and I couldn't remember what it is in English. One sound, even with harmony. I think that's what makes the music so peaceful and uncomplicated.
@@minimalmike1410 The phrase comes from Agnus Dei. God is the subject of the sentence as in "Give us our daily bread." The implicit (You) give us peace or (You) give us our daily bread is HIM +.
So beautiful, bought the album on iTunes 3 days ago and it's been on repeat ever since. Well done to everyone involved for create some 1st class music 😊
Lol. I think you will find they are singing to the pagan Mother Goddess Danu of the Tautha de Danann. (Ancient , pre-Christainity, beliefs of the ancestors, which have existed since time immemorial.)
Ancient goddess? In high church Latin? Time immemorial? Scriptures DOCUMENTS the faith and it's demonstrable through historical record. Your pagan goddess??? Well, don't worry. Some people believe unicorns are real too...still waiting on historical evidence kind of like your mythical goddess.
That would be the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God who taketh away the sins of the world, have mercy on our souls/ grant us peace) an original part of the Catholic mass. This just "grant us peace" (Dona nobis pacem).
Listening in 2022 and I think it's fitting that it literally says, "Grant us peace." Wherever you are in the world, I hope that you are safe and secure. If not, I pray that you find strength in God to get through it. I hope that you don't falter in fighting to see another day for yourself and the people around you!
is the song that I would like to have played at my funeral, it is so restful, soothing, emotional... While I am alive, I often hear it with great emotion.
I'm sure this will please many listeners, and create a place of peace and calm for many. It takes a lot of work to guide this many singers to sing so well in tune, whether they are singing mostly in unison or a few simple parts such as Cantus does. And we're not eve talking about the skill they demonstrate performing on camera. Ultimately, their music is too much the same for me; must be a shortcoming in my character I prefer richer, more complex choral music and singing.
A sooooooo beautiful video !!! Thank you very much for the close-ups of the splendid jewelry and embroidery, which bear witness to the radiant culture of Norway !!! ❤️❤️❤️ I hope to go there one soon day ! ;-) Astrid (Paris)
Not saying they do this, but many vocalists (especially groups) prerecord their vocals and then perform on camera to those vocals. It’s hard to get a really solid track when there are many voices together, and adding the performance aspect is another layer. Also the cold would be one. Especially because of the acoustics in the track, I believe this was recorded inside and they didn’t perform that version in cold temperatures. So no worries’
Beautiful voices from a beautiful country. Norway is a truly beautiful and amazing country.

Just imagine walking in the woods & hearing this!
Magnifique 💐
And seeing them sing eventually. I would watch and wonder.
and you realize you're probably dead...😳
No, they would say hej to me and asking me if would come closer.
If you encounter this singing in the woods it is almost CERTAINLY going to be a cult. Turn around and run. Run you clever boy, and remember.

These are the kinds of songs that should be winning Grammy Awards.
I agree 😊
Nope they wouldn't because this phrase dona nobis pacem is sung since as early as middle ages … Grammy only nominates new song each year …
Absolutely
chris r the Grammys are run by satanist, dio this would NOT fit with their brainwashing agendas
Agree!!!!
Gregorian chant, Traditional Latin Mass.....truly when Heaven touches earth. These young ladies are gifted from God with beautiful voices!

Nothing to do with Gregorian chant.
If you'd listened to those Missas in those years you'd change your mind.
