I have the matrix, had it 3 yrs, Love how the daiwa trolley packs down, but I'd say it wouldn't fit in my car once it is packed down, handle bars aren't flat, Where as the matrix does take longer to pack down, but once back the bag it fits better,in my car, nice and flat. The matrix wheels do come loose and the front left wheel isn't inline ,and the handle bar bit does need to be lubricated as it is hard to push in, I'm 6ft and find the height fine, If the daiwa had a bag it fitted in I'd buy one, I agree it is quicker to fit, my only bug bind is fitting it in my estate, I had a maver before the matrix and all the welds snapped I like yourself am a tackle tart ,and take everything to the bank, I find the more you put on the matrix , the solider it becomes, Great video, Think if you've the space in your car the daiwa is a no brainer, but if not I'd stick with the matrix, even though it does take 10 mins to pack away Keep the videos coming Ben.
Bought the matrix and same problem with the wheels so swoped them for air filled ones and a small washer now very smooth, and a new front bag ,carry everything now 😅
Great comparison Ben, thank you good to see you back! I agree the wheel wobble on the Matrix is pretty annoying, but it is very easily solveable with the addition of two washers per wheel; in my experience. Had mine a year now and as I have a VW transporter van, I simply lift the trolley and contents straight into the back of the van, so the folding Daiwa doesn't offer me any great advantage to be fair. The wheels on all of these trolleys could be vastly improved however by replacing them with pneumatic tyres, which provide for a much softer and less bumpy experience. I also have a 15 year old , three wheel Chub trolley which folds down very flat and which has pneumatic tyres which is still going strong after all these years!!
I have the Preston shuttle. My van is a Renaut Kango , wheellchair adapted. Can wheel straight up ramp fully loaded, including five rod bag much to the envy of my club mates. Also, optional bait bucket ring available.
Forgot to add the MAP does almost the same leave the wheels on , fold the front box guard down just then needs the handle removing via 2 screws. It's also got the height adjustable handles
I loved my MAP one, solid and for about £15 you could add a front bag. Now I’m older I have the Octbox electric model including seat box and swivel seat. I’m 75 and it only takes about 4minutes to build or take apart. Worth doing a review on one.
Great review Ben. I love the review / comparison vids. I’ve got the Preston (got a great deal) and it is good but a pain to put together at times. The Daiwa is deffo the way forward for trolleys and with the tweaks you mentioned it would be tops.
Another great review Ben, can you do one with tour gear on though, I love the height so legs and mud feet etc don't scrape on the wheels, the reason I ask if you can do a laden video is I can never make up my mind whether to put my box at the front or back of the trolley 🤔
Many years ago, had the go to BOSS trolley, then a couple of Preston two and 4 wheel shuttles. I now have the MAP x4 and that is brilliant very stable, quick and easy to collapse and the keepnet bag and storage bags are brilliant. Would never go back the Preston as way too unstable and poor quality (i am a big fan of Preston). However with a few storage option tweaks the Diawa would be the go to option. Good review Ben
Would the original Preston inception SL30 fit the new Diawa Transporter. To fit the preston shuttle you had to purchase new Adaptors because the H frame would not fit on the shuttle.
Funny thing is, I hardly see the Matrix one being used by many people, I wonder why? It's either the ye olde faithful Preston or the MAP Barrow, which looks like it can hold and move stuff with ease Edit to add, the ultimate test is really getting the trolley into an average size car full of tackle. With the Preston breaking down, you can put pieces on top or downsides of bags. The Daiwa is a unit that doesn't break down into smaller parts
I’ve had Preston and matrix and agree with you Ben, Preston all day long. Matrix build quality is pants, the front wheels on a lot of them are skew whiff, I guess the sweat shops in China can’t be bothered fettling their welding jigs. Preston has proper wheel bearings matrix doesn’t. Great vid as usual Ben 👍
Only issue ive had with Preston 4 Wheel shuttle is the bearings collapsing in the wheels. Changed bearings with a plastic seal instead or metal seals to hopefully stop water and grit getting into bearings. Plus machined up new rear axle with better tolerances. The Map 4 wheel trolley looks better with more storage.
Preston Barrow: If you like the majority of Anglers have a small Van can be wheeled into the back using a couple of ramps. The only things you have to remove are the handles and Rod Cases/Bags. Matrix Barrow: The same as the Preston one. Wheel in back and take handles and Rodbags/Cases off. Job Done Daiwa Barrow: Great piece of kit especially if you need to collapse it every time you go fishing. MAP 4XL Barrow: Same as Preston and Matrix. No Wobbling wheel issues like Matrix. Also Handles extend upwards. Also like Matrix extendable by loosening 2 x Hand wheels. Also like Matrix big Bag by handles with drain holes below hard floor cover. If you have the standard SWB van like Custom, Transporter, Etc no need to take any thing off.up ramp straight into Van ready for next Match. My choice is MAP, have owned Preston before. For car guys Daiwa a great option even though £100 more. For Van users not a required extra cost. Did not realise we travel across Rocks etc., With a bag and XBar another £60 plus on the Bill. Interesting revue though. Cheers
Hi Ben, I love my Matrix transporter but the weld is rubbish on the blocks that you screw the wheels into. My front two dropped off after second go and I wouldn’t say the conditions were any different then most walks to a peg. You are constantly worried about the tightening screws working loose and dropping off to the point that people are glueing them in. However that is not an issue once the blocks fall off because you don’t need the screws anymore!
Ben, I have the Daiwa barrow. Great bit of kit but just 1 problem, when pushing it tracks off to the left all the time. Have you come across this and if so how did you fix it. If i can get that sorted it will be untouchable 😜👍
@Angling4U hi pal, I have made it 90% better by purchasing more metal washer for the wheels. Was a pain but was able to take up the slack which was causing a couple of the wheels to lean in towards the frame slightly causing the trolly to track to the left. (Really a pain and a tad disappointed after spending so much money) anyways its a lot more ussble now 👍
Good vid - but lots of people like me have to break the trolly down to get everything in the car -subjective of course I have the matrix and have had the Preston 1 and i prefer the matrix. The daiw 1 looks great but I would never get all my stuff in the car .
Tbh there are plenty in all price ranges. Like rods, poles and boxes etc. You get what you pay for. Unfortunately with the price of wages, materials, tax & import fees prices will continue to go up.
🤔 Pushing any of these trolleys down a river bank is a nightmare.... It's all down to the size of wheels. Preston is best 👍. My 1st trolley was a 2 wheel which u slid your mud feet into to fix to trolley... 6/10 Next was Preston brilliant but wheel bearing kept falling apart... 8/10 next matrix great trolley sturdier but wheels to small collected mud due to width of wheel good bag with zips tho... 5/10.....back to Preston, wheels spot on
I sold my MAP x4 to by the Daiwa. I took the Daiwa out once to Boddington and realised i'd made a big mistake!! the foam grips ripped (held on by a screw and once fully loaded you could barely manoeuvre the trolley. with most trolleys you can push down on the handles to lift the front wheels to manoeuvre but the Daiwa this was virtually impossible!!! i've now brought another MAP x4 and im selling the Daiwa,
i use a Preston one i like a lot ,like the new Diawa one only problem being if you have a small car it would take a lot of room up ,great if you have a van
I have the matrix, had it 3 yrs,

Great video,

Keep the videos coming Ben.
Agreed pal thanks for the info
To be honest Ben, that was one of the best reviews you've done and I've seen all yours, brilliant mate, keep the good work x
Cheers Michael

Another great compare video for anyone looking for a new trolley. Personally I think the MAP 4 wheel trolley should have been included
Forgot to add the MAP does almost the same leave the wheels on , fold the front box guard down just then needs the handle removing via 2 screws. It's also got the height adjustable handles
I would have if it was in stock bud
Brilliant reviews, saved me from making a big mistake.
anytime John
You have also helped with my Seatbox decision as well thanks!@@Angling4U
I loved my MAP one, solid and for about £15 you could add a front bag.

I’ve got the Preston barrow. Highly recommend it.

personal preference fella i prefer the back

agreed
Could the play in the wheels assist in turning...?
maybe
Great review Ben. Your right the Daiwa one is worth the extra.
In my opinion yeah bud
Great review
Would the original Preston inception SL30 fit the new Diawa Transporter. To fit the preston shuttle you had to purchase new Adaptors because the H frame would not fit on the shuttle.
Not sure on that Clive
Great honest review, I love it 👍
always
Could you do a review on the off box wheel kit
I'll do my best
Funny thing is, I hardly see the Matrix one being used by many people, I wonder why? It's either the ye olde faithful Preston or the MAP Barrow, which looks like it can hold and move stuff with ease

Very true
Hi Ben, just wondering why you left out the MAP X4 barrow probably one of the best (except the new daiwa) on the market in my opinion?
non in stock fella

I think you will find they are all made in China
Sad really other products are good

a great trolley also the map
I have converted my Matrix wheels to sealed bearings, cost £25 all parts needed on Amazon

Cheers for the info Peter
How much room does it take up when putting in car in comparison with matrix and preston?
not much difference maybe a touch higher because of the fold
My final 2 are between the MAP X4 and the Diawa, but there was no mention of the former.
Yeah no Map in stock at the time fella
Nice review Ben 👍
Cheers

My matrix trolley has fallen to bits and the welding has split. Happened to two other anglers I know, too. Shocking from Matrix to be honest
Yeah I didn't find them reliable either
The weld s on mine are terrible some are missing some not reaching the end
Nice one Ben
Cheers Geoff

I haven't had that issue but let me now if you sort it bud

Enjoy it
Any reason you did not include the MAP trolly Ben?
just didn't have one in stock bud i hear good things

worth a look
I have the dawia one fantastic bit of kit well worth the money.
Lovely Paul
Unpopular but I have never ever had an issue with my maver, rock solid can fit loads of tackle on it
I haven't seen the Maver ones Patrick. I'll have to get a look.
Map 4×4 the best trolley imo a lot more popular than any of these 3
the joy of personal choice
i had the preston 4 wheel shuttle, tbh it wasnt that good, after 4 uses the wheel bearing collapsed and it was unusable.
A few have said the same
I'm after a trolley I've had a good look around there some terrible expensive trolleys about.can anyone recommend one that's not stupid money
Tbh there are plenty in all price ranges. Like rods, poles and boxes etc. You get what you pay for. Unfortunately with the price of wages, materials, tax & import fees prices will continue to go up.

surprises me that doe's
Map barrow the best by miles
not tested it but i do hear good things
i use a Preston one i like a lot ,like the new Diawa one only problem being if you have a small car it would take a lot of room up ,great if you have a van
I suppose
