I just ordered a used Mizuno STz on eBay. Picked it up for $250 and it looks like it is in mint condition based on your rating. Good news is I can test it and send it back if I don't like it because the company has a 30-day return policy. I order the 10.5 because as reduce loft to 9.375 it opens the face 2.5 degrees and the 10.5 is 1 degree open. I like to hit a little cut shot so an open face looks good to me in setting up. I am having a little buyer's remorse after seeing your distance comparison. I have an TM M1 that I still carry about 240-250 in the air, so we'll see if there are any significant distance gains. If not, it'll be going back within 30 days. I also ordered a brand-new set of 2020 MP-20 HMB's (3i-PW) for $850. The new list price was $1399. They also have a 30-day return policy. Pretty excited to see how they play. I used to play the MP-14's back in the mid 90's and I absolutely loved those clubs. Looking forward to that magic feel only a Mizuno can give you.
@@juliusagdeppa5732 I got fitted for the stz Saturday. Ventus black x-stiff 7.5 degrees. The thing that stuck out to me was the dispersion... By far and away the most consistent
I got the mizuno Stz with x stiff hazrdous smoke rdx black shaft 9.5 degree and it’s a beast. Love it and people need stop sleeping on mizuno drivers from now on
Just got fitted for the mizuno STz. Really seeing big gains in distance and accuracy compared to my old Callaway. Regularly finding the fairway at 275 yrs and drives of 293 & 295 on my last round. I’m one happy Mizuno customer.
Looks like you purchased the correct club. Can see by the smile on your face and you did seem amazed by some of the results. Good to see what half a degree raise in the Sim 2 can do. Great and honest review again as always. A pleasure to see your videos.
Went and swung irons and drivers the other at a simulator. Went with Sim 2 Max, and irons, as well as Ping G425 Max driver and irons. Haven’t swung for a long time as I live in a winter climate. Was a little rusty at the start but in a few swings things were back to normal. First swung the TaylorMade stuff. Really liked the look of the driver and irons. Both driver and irons seemed very forgiving. Was hitting 7 iron 175-180 and driver on average 285-290. Then went to the Pings. Irons were on average close 10 yards longer and seemed to fly straighter. Then came the driver. I was expecting big things from this ... but was actually disappointed. On average it was 15-20 yards shorter than the SIM 2. The one thing I didn’t like was the sound it made. It was like a “thud”. The one thing it had was more forgiveness. Question is ... would it be wrong to have Ping irons and a Sim 2 driver? Maybe there is another brand I should be trying. After watching this video it’s obvious the Sim flys like a plane. Thx for this video, great analysis of each and great honesty.
That sim 2 is a beast! I thought that last hole would have been so much closer between the 2 but damn. Great in depth test of these 2 incredible drivers! Doesn't get more real then that! Great job out there on the course Gabe!
They are both amazing in their own ways. But I am really happy with my choice right now. I might have to tell the wife a sad story, she’ll have to move to the couch because the Sim2 is coming to bed with me 🤣
Watched four of your videos in the last couple of days. Content is great and it is refreshing watching a "regular" golfer. It is also really nice seeing side by sides of competing clubs as opposed to watching individual reviews and having to compare them in my head. You got a new subscriber and if you ever want to play a course in Orlando you let me know.
Awesome Kevin, really happy to hear it’s been helpful. Thanks for the Otown invite. We’re actually hosting a Tampa meet up in September so let me know if you want the details on that.
I bought the Sim2 Driver and got to test it last night. My good shots and bad shots all felt long and penetrating. Off center shots gave up very little distance and held their line. Definitely went further than my trusty M2 and were also great into the wind with the reduction in RPM's. I was having so much fun it was tough to leave the course. Worth every penny.
Nice review, thanks. I totally agree re: the feel of the SIM2 not being all that great, even on solid shots. I absolutely love the look of the SIM, but the feel (to me) is too sluggish, heavy, and dead. Haven't tried the Mizuno yet, so will have to give it a whirl.
great review, I think your Sim2 was undefeated as the 1 Mizzy winner was a toe hit (which can be long) vs Sim was a "Jimmy Swagger" (healer) and those are short so hits not equal. Always fun to find a driver set up best for your swing, congrats. I much prefer on course reviews, too many variables. Be fun to see the same test with Sim2 vs TSi3 vs Epic Speed, soon I will see how those compare to my gamer (Ping 400 max) but have to do inside, I dont have access to demos. My guess is all 3 will be longer but I'm not willing to lose fairways hit so we'll see. Well done.
Nice battle. The TM Sim 2 seems to be a beast. One of my buddies has last years TM Sim and despite us having similar swing speeds ( ~ 90 mph) I usually outdrive him. lol I've have the Ping G400 for close to 4 years (Graphite Design Xdirectional shaft) and it's the most forgiving driver (over 9000 MOI I believe) I've had even though it's 445cc's. I'm 65 and ~ a 11 handicap and need all the forgiveness I can get. Ordered a Ping G425 from Edwin Watts last week. Don't expect it to be any longer (maybe a touch more forgiving), but wanted something new. Got mine with the Tensei Orange Raw 55 at 45 1/4". Should be coming in a few weeks from Ping. For those thinking about a PING club this year. Their stock grips come with Arrcos. However, the last 1/2 inch on the grip there is no shaft there. You can bend it over with your thumb. So if you don't want Arrcos you need to order it from Ping. Otherwise if you just regrip it'll be 1/2" shorter. Would like to see the Ping G425 against the TM Sim 2. Doubt it would win distance wise, but forgiveness wise it would win imo. I do have last years TM Sim Max OS irons. Again, all about forgiveness for me.
I think you're right...at least based on my simulator tests, the G425 is more accurate / consistent I'd say. I was pleasantly surprised by the Arrcos addition. Just noticed it on my 3 wood today in fact. Thanks for checking out the vids.
Loved watching your two videos, really glad I picked the sim 2. After watching your vid I knew I made the right choice when getting fitted. Extremely pumped for mine to come in the mail!
@@LetsPlayThru hey just an update after having the driver a little over a month and a half now. It is awesome!! The sim 2 max hits extremely straight and I hit bombs with it. I love this driver and probably won’t stop using it for a really long time
The shooting the pin and not back at the tee box is going to throw off how much further one is. The course layout can be 10 yards closer to a hole just depending where you are on the fair way
Hold your horses bro. You swing harder than me so you can handle the disparity in the length of the TM vs the MIZZY. I find that I can't get around so well on a 45 3/4 inch driver (TM standard length). I can get around on a 45 inch driver (Mizuno's standard length). Winner for me would be Mizuno all day long. Also, just to let your viewers know TM does nothing swing weight wise if you order the Sim2 in a shorter length than its standard of 45 3/4 length. Most guys would be more accurate and hit longer(on average) with the consistency of a shorter length driver. Winner Mizuno all day long ( for most of us slower than average swingers).
Another excellent video. I'm already pretty long off the tee, and don't have an issue with distance, so I'm still looking at the Mizuno for tight dispersion. I'm a lefty, so some hitting centers don't have all the selections to try...and I need to watch/rely on others videos to come to a decision. Thanks for an actual on course test.
Love this type of content On Course with all the toys! I can't get through the stock TM S shafts for years. So a shaft change morenthan likely? I went through the JDM phase a few ago and I do know love that Mizzy feel. I haven't been able to kick the Adam's F12 LS with Fubuki @ for 12 years. 2nd brand new head never hit Yet! Cheers
Love this type of video...on course, real conditions is the truest test. I sport a 20+ year old Adams Tight Lies 363cc Titanium 9 degree stiff shaft driver. I am looking for a replacement this year. So far, my Adams has out performed a couple of the newer drivers. But, I REALLY want to test out the Mizuno and the Taylormade. The Cobra line is also something I really want to try. Of course, I will try as many as I can! Again, thanks for the videos!
I’m interested in your third hole you played. The Mizuno tracked well left of where the Taylormade did, yet when you picked up recording, the Mizuno was way right and the TM ball was pretty far to the left. They must’ve both gotten pretty bad bounces in opposite directions to end up with that outcome.
@@LetsPlayThru That is a good increase. I have a friend who owns a local golf shop, so I get to try out all the newest stuff, however, I have yet to find more than a few yds difference between them.
I came back from a range session just before and I am dialing in and definitely getting used to the STZ! I’m definitely falling in love with it more and more. And yes, the feel and sound is like no other driver! I notched it down to 8.5 and the flight was a lot more piercing especially in today’s breezy NYC weather. Looking forward to seeing more of your vids. Cheers!
I am a Mizuno ST200 player. Mizuno is the Rodney Dangerfield of golf......I could not upgrade to the ST-Z because I was hitting them both equal. Anyone can see that you were favoring the Sim from the start.
Loving these on course shootouts! Would love to see you hit a SIM vs SIM 2. I have a SIM and when I hit it sweet, this thing just goes. Not the fastest swinger in the world and can easily stick with my mates and even out drive them sometimes. I find the SIM gets lots of roll out too.
doing all these driver tests, you gotta be getting some good practice in lol. Awesome to see you made the right choice for you. that one green you putted on looked in really good condition, I'm guessing courses are starting to green up a little bit now
Yeah courses here in Tampa have been really great this winter. My home course greens are the best winter greens I've ever seen them since I've been a member.
Love the video and the Arnold hat! Getting these clubs out on the course is so much better than hitting them into a net. I am between the Sim 2, Ping 425 and possibly the PXG 0211. Although, it seems like the distance king is the TM. Keep up the great videos. Love your passion and enthusiasm! I’m now a subscriber. One question.....are you playing R shafts in all your clubs? I thought you were but not sure. You have me considering R shafts as we have similar swings. Would love to see a comparison between the Sim 2 driver with the only difference being the Shaft flex. Just a thought....👍
Really appreciate that, Jeffrey, thank you. I’m right in between in terms of shafts. But I generally lean toward stiff flex. My driver is 60g Stiff. I am def going to try and do a shaft comparison video soon. 🙏
Great vids, I binged a bunch of your content recently. I want your opinion, do you think it's worth upgrading from a 2008 TaylorMade R7 CGB Max to a new 2021 driver? I like my old driver and wondering if the $500 is worth it.
Great test. Just not a TM fan. The Mizuno is plenty long enough for me by your testing. Would like to see a test between the Sim2 and the Callaway Speed.
Would love to see you go through more of an in depth fitting with top models You found this year. Just pulling them off the shelf and hitting them kind isn’t there best way to go about it from shaft to shaft could change feel, distance, swing weight, launch,
Thanks. We did do this with Wade a few weeks back, but you’re right...I should go thru the entire fitting process myself and tape it. Will try to make that happen.
@@LetsPlayThru Think finding the right shaft/swing weight/length combo along with getting the head exactly where YOU present it the best for the best spin/launch window I think you may get to a lot more of them par 5s than you think 🤭🤭
Just a thought here, I'm pretty sure that if you committed to the sim2 then you got it after a custom fit session? Where as the SZ is coming to you direct from the shelf, so is that really comparable? I'm guessing that mizuno have 16 or s free custom fit shafts for a reason, and any one of those could work better or you than an off the shelf generic stiff flex. Otherwise, yep, a fun review.
Thanks... to answer your questions they're actually both off the shelf / stock setups, nothing too fancy shaft wise on either. No customizations from me. Just purely what any average joe could pickup in store / online. That is one amazing thing about Mizuno though, that you can get a number of customizations and they don't charge for it. A +1 in their category for sure.
Love the review but the second shot had to go to sim2. That faded more off the face than your mizuno ball according to shot trace. No fade/slice there and it clears the mizuno. Fairway is better than rough 90% of the time. 5 yards there on that shot isn’t much IMO. Thanks for the review. Sim2 is hot.
Good luck with the sim2! Got myself one. Ventus blue shaft. Love the flight and control. Distance is a monster on it. Mizuno did feel great but like you said the forgiveness on mis hits with the sim2 is enough to go for it.
I am a terrible golfer. I bought an evnroll putter last year and dropped 5 strokes. And last month I bought the sim 2 max D driver... it is literally impossible to slice. Ive never hit so many fairways in my life. Lost another 5 strokes. I justpicked up some kirkland wedges... hoping for another 5 strokes. Slowly building my first bag.
Hi. Great content am going with sim2 driver this year, we can start playing golf again March 29th, so first hit. Like your videos man, going to subscribe. Keep enjoying golf, enjoying life and stay safe bro.
Great video! I recently picked up the ping g410 and I love it. I tired the sim out, was a very close 2nd to my current club! Quick question, any idea of when you’ll be doing the draw for the rangefinder? Keep up the content!
🙏 thank you. Rangefinder drawing winner should be in approx a week. Right now chances are VERY good. I think there are only 5 confirmed entries. That’s 20% chance. Heck of a lot better than lotto.
@@LetsPlayThru sounds good! I need all the luck I can get! Certainly luck hasn’t been my friend on the golf course so hopefully this is my chance! Cheers.
@@JorgeMorales-do5pr Short answer, for me I'd go SIM2, but you should test. If you're up for a longer answer, I spelled out all the pros / cons I saw in this video if you haven't seen it yet, might be worth a look: ruclips.net/video/b4OxISuzTWY/видео.html
My results were exactly the same. My club head speed is maxed out at 98 sim 2 was consistently 20 yard farther. It’s in my bag along with the sim to 3 wood I can finally go for those 520 to 540 par 5’s
Since you are local can you recommend a club fitting professional? I used to play a lot and after a few years I going to make and effort to play more and need to upgrade some clubs. Especially my woods. And recommendations will be appreciated. Cheers
Is there any chance of comparing the new Tour edge C721 driver against either the Mizuno or Sim2 Please. i'm hearing some great reviews about the T/E C721 and its well priced.
It's still not an apples to apples test. I believe that the SIM 2, comes standard with a longer shaft. Unless you were playing the same shaft, in the exact same length, it's tough to call this a fair comparison, IMO. 🤷
@@LetsPlayThru I may be moving from AZ to FL - If I get to your neck of the woods then I guess I'll just have to play with you and test them all out! LOL
Like your video ! Looking for anti slice or fade , have tried Callaway B21’s and ping max , I think ping won with me. I only hit them 2to220. Can’t decide . Thanks
True that...a friend of mine were hitting it at our Sunday tournament n skins game he smash it really good even with a miss it...I probably replace my M5 for the Sim2. Great content 👍. I want forgiveness n distance... Consistent is on the swing of most players I believe. Clearly Sim2 out play most drivers with it's Aerodynamics looks and feel.
you can't measure the distance of the drives by lasering the remaining distance to the flag. They both could have flown the same distance but if one flew towards the apex of the dogleg and one flew toward the outside corner, the ball at the outside corner is going to be way farther away from the flag. I would like you to repeat these test but with you lasering a target on the tee box, or just using GPS to track your shots.
Thanks, yes got some similar comments so I ended up changing the methodology of how I measured these. Now using GPS to determine it in all of our vides.
Both are super solid. It’s almost 6 in one hand half a dozen in the other. I think it just comes down to personal preferences, one a bit longer and the other a bit more consistent. Can’t go wrong tho
How can you measure distance from the tee by measuring to the flag. It's all dependent on where the flag is? You could hit it 300 yards on a dog leg hole of 400 yrds and end up 200 yards from the hole. Poor system. But thanks for trying
@@LetsPlayThru totally appreciate your thought process. In all honesty, drivers nower days should be about forgiveness and suitability. We know that R&A /USGA measures show that COR means that they are all pretty much the same. So refreshing to see how amateurs like ourselves will hit the ball 👍
Some will play a stock config right off the shelf, some like to customize their setup a bit. Gotta say, I didn't think 1/2 degree would do anything and I was pleasantly surprised to see it made a considerable difference. Wouldn't have known unless I tested that.

@@LetsPlayThru That is a good increase. I have a friend who owns a local golf shop, so I get to try out all the newest stuff, however, I have yet to find more than a few yds difference between them.
Indeed. Used to be one or two standouts every year. This year, almost everything is amazing.
I just got a Sims 2 max on a cold 285 carry! Love it!
Shat is the transmission. Tell us what you’re using in each driver.
Cheers!
That’s awesome, John! 8.5 is next level. What’s your swing speed?
@@LetsPlayThru 111 - 113mph
Great review. Got my Sim 2 in 8 degree head and finally found a driver that achieves my optimum spin.
I bet that feels good!
Well Sim2 VS Sim Max drops Sunday :)
@@LetsPlayThru Nice. Looking forward to it. Is your SIM2 the max version?
Mine is regular but I’ll test it up against the Max version
@@LetsPlayThru ok no worries. I'll be watching :)
doing all these driver tests, you gotta be getting some good practice in lol.
Sim 2 would probably be my choice out of the two.
Hard to go wrong with either but I chose distance this year
Great vids, I binged a bunch of your content recently.
Just got fitted for my Taylormade Sim 2 driver. I can't wait to get mine and play a round with it in my bag.
Nice, congrats!🍾
@@LetsPlayThru Thank you.
Would love to see you go through more of an in depth fitting with top models
You found this year.
What was the shaft length of these drivers? I see the Sim 2 is 45.75 and Mizuno is 45 inches, which could be the reason for the extra yardage.
Love the review. I have a STZ. Getting another shaft for it. Also I need that hat. I’ll check online for that.
What shaft are you going to switch?
Love the review but the second shot had to go to sim2. That faded more off the face than your mizuno ball according to shot trace. No fade/slice there and it clears the mizuno. Fairway is better than rough 90% of the time. 5 yards there on that shot isn’t much IMO. Thanks for the review. Sim2 is hot.
Fair points indeed
Sounds like you won’t be able to call yourself “terrible” much longer. 😀 Congrats!
I enjoyed your video
True numbers really helped me rethink about my numbers
Good job
Glad it helped!
PXG 0211 driver, have you tried it?
Looking forward to this one
Hi. Great content am going with sim2 driver this year, we can start playing golf again March 29th, so first hit. Like your videos man, going to subscribe. Keep enjoying golf, enjoying life and stay safe bro.
Congrats Ian. Are you over in the UK? Glad to hear things are finally opening back up for you guys
@@LetsPlayThru yes. Uk and your my first person I now follow from outside of the UK largely down to your down to earth reviews.
Yeah man, this yank keeps it real.
Nice content Man 👍👍👍👍, really enjoyed your video
Many thanks!
Was this test done with stock shafts or shafts you fit your swing?
Well it’s the proper shaft for me but pretty stock options - 60g Stiff
Cheers.
Got my sim2 yesterday which i got fitted for can't wait to get out on the course
Sweet! Big congrats
The taylormade is way longer shaft its almost 46 inches the Mizuno is 45 how can that be a fair test
I tested the same length. Both 45.5.
I know the standard for Sims two is 45 and three-quarter inches the standard length of Mizuno is 45 inches
Off topic a bit...what irons did you end up playing...Sim 2 Max?
No worries at all. I did not change irons, so I am still rocking the Mizuno MP 20 HMB’s
Great review, thank you. What kind of shaft are you using in your sim 2 driver
Many thanks, Tensei 60g stiff.
@@LetsPlayThru thanks. Can you give me your opinion sim 2 vs tsi3, I can’t decide very very close numbers
Do u use the same shaft?
If you're only swinging 99 I would suggest a 10.5 degree.
My results were exactly the same. My club head speed is maxed out at 98 sim 2 was consistently 20 yard farther. It’s in my bag along with the sim to 3 wood I can finally go for those 520 to 540 par 5’s
That’s a fantastic feeling isn’t it?
I think sim 2 is 0.5" longer than stz?
I’m not 100% sure on that to be honest. I would think it depends on the shaft.
Since you are local can you recommend a club fitting professional? I used to play a lot and after a few years I going to make and effort to play more and need to upgrade some clubs. Especially my woods. And recommendations will be appreciated. Cheers
Brad McIntosh at GolfTec did one for my buddy. I thought he did a great job. We documented the process: ruclips.net/video/_IrKf2vn0EM/видео.html
Is there any chance of comparing the new Tour edge C721 driver against either the Mizuno or Sim2 Please. i'm hearing some great reviews about the T/E C721 and its well priced.
I’m going to reach out to them and see if I can get my hands on one. A number of folks have asked for this.
Love the battle,I’ll buy the STZ from you?
Thanks Dave, it was just a loaner unfortunately
Awaiting delivery of my Sim2 Max. Cant wait to smash it down the fairway.
Sweet, what's your setup?
@@LetsPlayThru 9 degree, 1 inch shorter shaft, and I'm trying a counterbalanced evenflow stiff shaft.
@@karlconway1 Oh that sounds nice. Hit 'em straight!
measuring the distance to the pin doesn´t tell you wich one went farther
We had an Edwin Watts up in Va Beach Va where I live. I loved there products. They closed the store not sure why.
Shaft?
Based on the numbers you were getting the SIM2 gave you lower spin numbers and rolled more because of it.
It's still not an apples to apples test. I believe that the SIM 2, comes standard with a longer shaft. Unless you were playing the same shaft, in the exact same length, it's tough to call this a fair comparison, IMO.
🤷
I just got and hit my Sim2 max today....super fast club head speed very nice driver but 18 hole I can’t find the fairway 😅😅😅
Oh no! Maybe shaft change is in order??
I can not decide if its worth swapping my TS2 for one of these or the Cobra...I wish I was able to do an on course test!
It's been really fun doing these and folks seem to get a kick out of it. Wouldn't be nice if pro shops let everyone do that?
@@LetsPlayThru I may be moving from AZ to FL - If I get to your neck of the woods then I guess I'll just have to play with you and test them all out! LOL
We gotta get out to play !
Like your video ! Looking for anti slice or fade , have tried Callaway B21’s and ping max , I think ping won with me. I only hit them 2to220. Can’t decide . Thanks
SIM 2 MAX D is the no slice version. PING G425 is also a solid choice.
Great review for your 3 wood why did you not try the ti version 3 wood from Taylormade. Absolutely the best 3 wood on the market.
When I was in store the options were limited. However I do plan to test that club soon.
Great video. Love your hat. Where did you get it?
Thanks. I picked it up at Bay Hill. My fave hat
@@LetsPlayThru awesome. I just subbed
Great video
Appreciate it, thanks
Just commented on a different review of yours. But went from the ST-Z to the Sim2 . Really no comparison.
You might review Tour Edge C721 Driver as well
Will try to get my hands on one, thanks
@@LetsPlayThru Thank you
Unless you use same shaft, same length, same SW etc.. Comparison is no good. Sim 2 already starts out at 3/4 monger in length.
Yes but what about all the cracking problems with the sim2 . My friend has cracked 3 already and thousands being returned. Mizuno or ping all day
I just got a sims 2 max carry 285!
No more worry about buyers remorse!
That’s 100% true
I am new to the game and wanted a club to help current my shots that leak to the right so I purchased a sim 2 max Draw hoping it works out for me!
Def a bit of a draw bias with the MAX. Congrats!
You and I both 🎯
I play the st200 a great driver
you can't measure the distance of the drives by lasering the remaining distance to the flag.
@@LetsPlayThru Awesome. Otherwise really enjoyed your reviews!
Much appreciated David, thanks 🙏
Don’t forget the Mizuno is 45” stock length though.
Ah, good to know. I'm not sure I ever looked at that. SIM 2 is 45.5" I know for sure .
@@LetsPlayThru Yeah, won’t make a massive difference but will make some for sure.
only 3 mins in but i’d rather be 113 out than 99 out. but the look, sound and feel of the TM can’t be beat ... i don’t like the shiny crowns
Both are super solid. It’s almost 6 in one hand half a dozen in the other. I think it just comes down to personal preferences, one a bit longer and the other a bit more consistent. Can’t go wrong tho
@@LetsPlayThru both solid but I am partial to TM, Ping, PXG bc of the matte finish and no glare. for the money that Mizuno is a real winner
I would like one for I don't have the money
Are you based in Tampa?
Yes
How can you measure distance from the tee by measuring to the flag. It's all dependent on where the flag is? You could hit it 300 yards on a dog leg hole of 400 yrds and end up 200 yards from the hole. Poor system. But thanks for trying
I appreciate the critique...my thinking was “what club puts you in a better position to score,” is really the most relevant metric here.
Why would you not just do the whole test with same specs?
Some will play a stock config right off the shelf, some like to customize their setup a bit. Gotta say, I didn't think 1/2 degree would do anything and I was pleasantly surprised to see it made a considerable difference. Wouldn't have known unless I tested that.
Sim 2 < STZ
It’s a tough choice no doubt
Sim has lower spin and thus runs out more with less carry on shot # 4
Yes, I think that's exactly right.
TXG has Mizuno beating out everything
Different balls?
Bro there isent any ball piped 238 😂😂😂😂😂thts my 5wood yardage
