This video is as relevent today as it was 7yrs ago. Amazing. I have a Ryoki tiller with the exact same engine. My neighbor gave it to me as a gift for helping him move. I had to replace ALL the fuel lines which were all broken. I cleaned the entire fuel system, including the carb, tank and primer bulb, but I didn't keep track of where the fuel lines connected between the carb, primer and tank. There are three separate lines. Thanks to your video, I know exactly where each new line will go. Can't wait to use it next season. Thanks for posting.
Good, straight forward video. I would add that the plastic union that was on the fuel line from the Tank to the Carb's top inlet is added as a reducer from the larger to the smaller I.D. tubing. If it is omitted, the fuel line will vibrate off the carburetor's fitting over time. Remember, all screws need a hole and all holes need a screw.
?? Not too sure why they removed the carb but OK.... That was (by far) the easiest video of the fuel line going through the bottom of the tank that I've ever seen - Great videos!
Be careful about buying kits with fuel line and filter. The universal RYOBI kit I purchased at Home Depot had wrong size pipes, wrong size filter (too long) with different securing method and only a primer bulb with no primer body. I had to discard everything and order again. By the way, I'm not sure why the easier approach would be to insert the pipe into the tank and put the filter on when the pipe appears. There's no fishing around with the pipe that way. I think the videos are great however, very helpful. Thanks.
This video is excellent and exactly what I needed in order to accomplish the fuel line replacement myself. THANK YOU!!!! Especially nice because I have the trimmer used in this demonstration.
Always use the original equipment fuel lines for this!! Anything other than those will give problems as far as leaks, or ease of installation! Great video!
NO....Oem fuel lines were NOT ethanol resistant! ANY ethanol resistant fuel line of the proper diameter will do. Usually the one's at the mower shop selling for .10 cents a foot are better than oem.
How do you get the fuel filter end through the hole. Mine stops every time. My fingers don't reach the fuel filter and I have big hands. No problem with the fuel lines but the filter won't go through the hole. I've watched 4-5 videos so I must be clueless.
Is the hose already on the filter nipple? I have aftermarket kit and it's a hard job getting hose on filter and no way is is it coming through the tank
I found that putting the pipe in from the bottom first and then attaching the filter was easier. Also make sure that you have the right filter. Some are too long. Match it up with the old filter.
How do you the remove the back cover off a 25 year old Ryobi 780r 31cc 18" grass trimmer. The choke lever interferes, and its a different choke lever than on your video. I don't want to force it. Any suggestions ?
Thanks for this Mark. Very good production with clear audio and video. I used it to do a first-time repair on my Yardman line trimmer. Just one question. Before replacement, the fuel supply line from the tank is in two pieces, joined by a fuel line coupler. (My Yardman has the same coupler.) However, the repair didn't reinstall a coupler and nor does any other repair video that I've seen. What role does the coupler serve?
Tried replacing the fuel filter line found the piece under the filter is much bigger than the hole stopped pulling from the bottom for fear of breaking something brought my Ryobi trimmer 1998 looked after it needed fuel lines and bulb changed all good up until the filter part ???
The so-called universal replacement filters don't fit - nothing but a lot of pulling and frustration. The same thing happened to me as to you. I ordered the part in this video from eReplacementParts and it was a very quick job. A bit of oil or grease helps to get the barbed fitting into the fuel hose and also at the hose where it goes through the bottom of the tank. Only Ryobi Part # 791-682039 will fit.
I wonder if the plug is some how mislabeled or otherwise defective. I checked the same plug number for the model and these seem to be ok and the DJ7Y should be the correct plug. You may want to try another plug. If you purchased the plug from us, let us know so we can get another plug sent to you.

The green line you're asking about is actually Blue when it comes new. It's the Return fuel line part number 791-181086. www.ereplacementparts.com/fuel-return-line-p-282392.html
791-181086 Fuel Return Line - eReplacementParts www.ereplacementparts.com The purpose of the 791-181086 Fuel Return Tube is to return the excess fuel back into the fuel tank, after the primer bulb has been pressed and has primed the ...
Install this by cutting the end of the hose on an angle, getting the old hose out of the tank, put a little oil on the hose the push the angle cut end into the fuel tank.
Would LOVE a video on how to replace that one! (Assuming you mean the fuel line that goes to the primer bulb to the tank.) That one I can't seem to do....
It is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE to push on the fuel filter with a screwdriver on the Ryobi 790R! The filter is too far from the tank opening! Also it is even MORE impossible to pull the line with the fuel filter nipple through the hole! I pulled with 1000 Ft/lb of force and it WILL NOT PULL THROUGH!! Only stretches the fuel line into a thread! NO worries, I will just go buy a new trimmer as I should have to begin with. Thanks for all the frustration and cussing !!
It's smart to use Premium gasoline in small engines. Unlike an automobile it will probably cost only a few dollars a year more. If you bought the Ryobi BP42, return it and get a new one next season. They die after a year or so. Ryobi hillbillies will guide you through all the things that could be wrong. That process requires buying part they suggest, waiting for part, installing new part, calling Ryobi when that didn't fix the problem. I went through this 4 step/week long process-At least 5 times: Air filter(1 week), fuel filter(1 week), carb cleaned, carb replaced with a new one, new fuel and air lines installed, new plug. Over 12 hours and ~$100 into this and I give up. Ryobi sucks. Their hillbilly helpers are in the business of getting you to buy all these solutions!! They don't get paid to actually help you with your problem. If the Chinese blew leaves, they'd make a better leafblower. They don't-Ryobi BP42 is a planned obsolescence product. This piece of crap is actually a terrific leaf blower when it works. Show me a homeowner who was able to fix their BP42 and I'll blow your leaves for a season. Also...when you're on the phone with them and they ask you for the serial number on your blower, you'll see that the serial number is sleazily hid by an impossible to read microscopic font size. DO NOT PULL THE STICKER OFF TO READ THE NUMBER!! While on the phone with them I pulled it off It voided my warranty. VERY SLEAZY COMPANY!!
On my Ryobi 3100 blower, I replaced the pipes but the 3mm ID is too wide, and leaks fuel around the intake nipples on the carburetor. I measured the old pipe and it is actually 2mm ID and about 3.5mm OD. Do you have a filter kit that comes with a 2mm ID hose? Or what else would you suggest? Thanks

Great video! Your tip on adding some 2 cycle oil to help ease the fuel line into place is invaluable!

You sound like a know it all but I guess you deliberately miss the part where the fuel filter was replaced?

Than you for taking the time and effort to create this excellent how to video. Very well done. Thanks again!
Glad it was helpful!

And always remember the long nipple on the primer attaches to the return line..

Good visuals, explanation and tips...what did people do before RUclips and generous experts?

It has two lines how does the green one attach to the petrol tank thanks great video easier than the other one i watched.
Is the hose already on the filter nipple? I have aftermarket kit and it's a hard job getting hose on filter and no way is is it coming through the tank
It is quite difficult to install the new filter. The video makes it look easy.
I found that putting the pipe in from the bottom first and then attaching the filter was easier. Also make sure that you have the right filter. Some are too long. Match it up with the old filter.
very good demonstration and information...simple to follow
would of loved to see how long it took to get hose into the hole.
Brilliant! Clear concise instructions. Thanks very much.

I have a Ryan model 284. It appears to be the same carb. Can you verify? I need to replace fuel line and air filter.
How to measure the piston ring, inner dia. Or outer dia.?
I want to replacement my piston ring
Great job , very good& easy instructions. Thanks!
Perfect! Especially the advice on getting the filter line out of he fuel tank
What about the check valve in the original fuel supply line?
Nice and straight forward instructions
Very good video. I know exactly what to look for and how to do it. Great job!
Thanks Great info for quick fuelline switchover
Do you. Have a video for a TROY BILT. tB70ss
I use 11inch 45° angled needle pliers.
great Video for fuel filter replacement
r these lines to different sizes small big ?
I have pulled and pulled and pulled and can't get the nipple through the bottom of the tank. I'm using a Fuel System Tune-up kit, part no, ACO4122.

My lines won't hold prime. Changed lines and cleaned carburetor.
Like ur video loud n clear

Nice video, although I found the procedure easier by just removing the tank
I just fought a battle trying to get the new fuel line through the top of the tank - it's a lot easier if you happen to have a fuel line pulling tool.
Put the fuel line up from the bottom first, then add the filter. I found it easier.
Perfect
your going backwards feed it threw the tank first i don't know how you fished that from the inside lol
Very helpful.
Great video! Hint: Throw those sorry Snap On side cutters in the trash and go get you a real set at harbor freight! Ha!
Thanks for the tip!

Hey guys, at 1:47 he says "nipple" He-he-he-he-he.
Identical to a Troy-Bilt.
😊
The audio is terrible.

No instruction for routing the lines to and from the primer bulb?? This video needs to be deleted and redone properly.
