    You describe my village in Carpathian Ukraine. They still live like this. The only changes are the style of houses and the use of a small tractor . But the horses and plough are still used and a scythe . A scythe is quicker than a petrol line trimmer

    As I understand it took 5 acre's of pasture to provide the nutrient, and rest periods needed for 1 acre of crop. Crop rotation, and large increases of productivity did not happen until sea trade with east Asia meant agricultural knowledge, and new crops made it back to Europe. Trade in knowledge is the key to prosperity anywhere. Canal building is also thought to have been a result of these knowledge transfers which enabled the coal, and ore transfer for the industrial revolution to take place. Best to shake hands all round.

    Great video. Interesting how it was mentioned that water mills were more reliable than wind mills because they did not depend on the weather. Yet today some want to electrify everything and base the power grid on fickle wind and more fickle solar. Today's mechanized farm machinery makes it possible for so much food to be produced that some can waste it on paintings.

    I had a friend who lived in a house with wood and mud walls . They had problems with rats, so he stopped up one night the rat appeared he shot at it with a garden gun ( a small shot gun ) and blew a hole in the wsll
