I was just telling someone the other day how much I like Lincoln ever since they revamped their brand. Their vehicles are expensive, but they are beautiful, and so luxurious. One of those "if I had money..." cars.
It was about time the navigator got an update, it was way behind against the competition, looks like a pretty good refresh. I wish they put power boost system in this though. Also, what’s nice about the AC is there is a preset that you can tap that automatically aims at the driver and passenger so you don’t have to mess with it
Especially changing the air vent movement on screen. That has to be the dumbest idea, nobody asked for. Why manufacturers are following Elon on that, makes no sense.
It “looks so cool” and is just plain dumb. I agree. Give me knobs and buttons. I’ll take a nice screen too, but I want to keep all the usefulness of knobs and buttons.
New fire trucks even have screens with buttons next to them to control multiple electric/electronic items. I have to load different pages on the screen to get to certain functions. I'd much rather have the 1 or 2 rows of switches above the windshield like the trucks 10 or 15 years ago had.
The vent angle being controlled by solenoids is level 100 inanity. It's like someone creating a perfect cylinder it of a banana on a lathe, plating it with a decorative caramel drizzle, setting it under glass to be observed, then having a robot peel and feed you a regular banana while you look at the one in the glass case.
We have a 2007 Tahoe and a 2023 Expedition Limited. That tailgate design is perfect and so much better than a full tailgate that opens. Now, let's just hope that smaller section doesn't stop working when closing!
I believe both of your SUVs have a glass portion that can open alone. I'm curious if you ever use it. I had a first gen Expedition and used it occasionally and left it open when we had to transport a snowblower. My second gen Expedition also had it, but the glass hinge failed on it and we just taped it back together and never used it again. Several years ago when I wanted a replacement in a junkyard, I found that most of them fail and the dealer wanted several hundred dollars for the parts.
Wow Ford is really stepping up their luxury game, finally might have eclipsed the Escalade. As stunning and beautiful as this new Navigator is, with all the fancy screens and little motors and servos this is a vehicle you definitely want sell or trade before the warranty period stops.
13:14 you gotta be kidding me. Manual shift *_buttons_* ...on the *_CONSOLE_* ?! LOL Those better just be for gear lockout, otherwise if they really expect you to use those for manual shifting I'm gonna have to declare that to be the most obtuse transmission interface I've ever seen.
Very attractive, and I really like the rear tailgate that's really nice. Ford should have added some more engine choices, it would be nice to be able to get a coyote or the hybrid.
I find it difficult to use touch screens while driving. It is way more difficult to touch the screen in the right place while the vehicle is moving unless you are driving on a silky smooth road.
Good lord. Can we get over the trend of "more screens = luxury?" This is so distracting and unnecessary. Imagine how bad this will look in 5-7 years. And I don't care if most people will lease these. These vehicles still will exist somewhere.
@@richardnavratil9661 yes this will look a mess in 5 years and that’s because they’re trying to copy somebody else’s interior design language without spending the same type of money to execute it as well. It’s pretty cool that Lincoln stepped up there game with the two tone color schemes and the different materials they use, I actually like the screens, although other people don’t, but I rather like the screens than dislike them because they’re not gonna go away anytime soon. I do agree though overtime reliability may be a concern,so I hope the screens are in sections and not one piece.
Controlling vents with the screen means actuators everywhere, wiring, etc. Maybe I just need to go back a couple of decades for my vehicle, and spend the money to keep it running and nice.
I'd watch this if it said they threw out the tech, and had a cheap to maintain vehicle. Years ago, I owned a Lada. Simple to repair, cheap to insure, good fuel economy.
@drewthompson7457 it makes even less sense to price a vehicle that lacks luxury features with a luxury price. All I'm saying is if it's a luxury car it needs to include a lot features to justify its price tag and with a lot of features things are bound to break. And also people who have enough money to buy luxury vehicles don't care about it being cheap to insure or saving gas money, they have enough money not to.
@drewthompson7457 I dont know about you but people generally know lincoln is more of a luxury brand than an economy brand.. maybe you're unfamiliar with their brand. And yes it will have many recalls, as do a lot of other luxury brands like Land Rover for example.
My opinion is that the navigator looks more elegant than the Escalade. Since me and my wife are going to have her family down from Japan. Then at other times my sister and her family. We need a big vehicle. I feel this may work.
I wonder why the C pillar in these modern fullsize SUVs are so large. GM has them too. The second generation Expedition had rear roof mounted HVAC vents and 3 row side curtain airbags, but not a massive C pillar.
Nice, it would be next level if the passenger had a screen that was focused on them to enjoy while riding or make the screen able to turn to face the passenger only to unlock certain features while riding. Like when you lock it in passenger mode features like games and streaming become available for the passenger
I was thinking same thing but probably federal regulations wouldn't allow it. Although I'm sure an aftermarket accessory to do this will be available soon enough
Range Rover thought of a solution to this problem nearly 20 years ago. The two way screen, the driver sees different things on the screens from the passenger. Like the passenger could use some headphones and watch a movie while the driver just sees information on the displays.
@@Turbodude12345 It's all in the name of being more technological and trends compared to the other guys. They are all so focused on unnecessary tech these days.
Exactly. TFL tries to rag on *gm* for putting an automatic headlight control that you’ll rarely use inside the display as a digital button that never goes anywhere. But then the same publication praises their direct competitor Lincoln for making air vent controls an electronic setting inside of the screen. Tell me these folks don’t have double standards.
Nobody wants TV screens! Bring back chrome, wood, analog gauges, knobs. Timeless and classic. It’s why a Rolex will always be more desirable than a Casio.
The difference with this is that all of the things you mentioned are part of the Navigator except analog gauges. And they are physically not as good looking as a properly integrated and heavily customizable dash screen, which this has.
Goodness! Look at all that tech! And luxurious?! I remember when I thought AC was a luxury. Now you don’t even have to smell the kids’ feet on a road trip: they’ve “solved” that! It is a beautiful truck (yes, I also call those trucks), though it kind of blends in with a lot of the other vehicles in that segment. Is that a holding center seat in the second row, or a fixed arm rest? I would imagine the latter, given the complexity of it.
I like the split rear hatch rather than a big single. Hatches need to be more creative like the old Chevy Astro hatch/barn doors which the Kia Wkendr took it to another level.
It's so funny when the guys in these videos get in the vehicles and mention your height. Like when you got in the third row, you said (I'm basically 6'3"). the hell does that mean? Everybody says they're "basically" some height. 😂😂😂
Looks great. It’s such a great riding truck. The Black Labels are the nicest SUV’s without going over $200k. I love my Aviator Grand Touring. They need to do a Grand Touring for the Navigator. The mileage difference is crazy without range bs.
Does either trim have memory seats for the front passenger? You didnt mention HUD on either, will it have that? Lastly, I dont see any paddle shifters, are those available? Having the seat controls on the doors was a lincoln signature, taking those away was terribly wrong!!.
