- When I visited Cedar Point in February 2012 for a winter tour, I had no idea that by the end of that season, Wildcat, Space Spiral, and Disaster Transport would be removed, and that a brand new roller coaster would be flying guests over a new entrance gate. The giant screen at the main train station was removed and Luminosity debuted with a new stage and bleachers. 2012 was also the first year for Dinosaurs Alive! which not only gave us lots of cool dinos to interact with, but fantastic views of Millennium Force!
Roughly the first hour of this video contains the usual ride sequences and observations, then I explore the final days of Disaster Transport and Space Spiral. There is also a brief look at Halloweekends, but I felt the video was already lengthy without going into all of that footage, so I kept it relatively short. 2012 was also the first year I started recording in 1080 HD, but I didn't post in HD until now. I could tell you a memory I have of every single thing you filmed in this video. Everything. I was a season pass holder from about 1994 to 2012. Great video as always coaster bob.

2012 was the very first year I went to cedar point. I miss this era but over the past decade this place has made immense changes that have created more enjoyable opportunities
This is cool for me. This is back when I was in high school when all my friends and I could talk about were what rides wanted to go on we got there.
It is so jarring to see the old front gate. The last time I went to Cedar Point while it was still there was 2008.

WOW! This video is 7 years before my first visit to Cedar Point in 2019.
The entrance though-
I miss both the Goodtime Theater and Space Spiral. I never got to ride Wildcat, unfortunately. I did try Dinosaurs Alive however, but I didn't like it, however. I also recall making a prophetic wish that very day about Dinosaurs Alive: "I hope they get rid of this attraction in the near future."
I miss that old tunnel at 30:50 as well, too. I loved that. Especially Shoot the Rapids, though it's understandable why they removed it.
If this was filmed 1 year later the video would look way less old.
Wow do I miss 2012 era Cedar Point. Seemed like operations were way better back then, employees weren't as rude. And I'd give anything to have Space Spiral and Wicked Twister back. Couldn't care less about Gatekeeper and Wild Mouse or the pavilion. Thanks for another great video!

The park was pretty great back then, but ever since Gatekeeper, it’s been so much better! It seems that Gatekeeper was the ride that started an era!
Absolutely stellar footage Bob. I especially liked the Millennium Force was that big. That looks like such a good ride. I cannot remember if I remember Wildcat. But I do remember how your editing skills help to make these videos extra special. Outstanding job Bob. Congratulations on your ten year anniversary to recording in 1080 HD~

Thanks, Rob! I was looking through my old footage from 2012 just to see what it was like 10 years ago, then I realized that was the year I started to shoot at 1080 -- I just had to make a video with it!

My first ever visit to Cedar Point just happened to be Disaster Transports final ever day of operation. Glad I went on it and the Space Spiral.

Man I miss Space Spiral
Wow I was there in June 2012 and I wished that I rode Space Spiral and Disaster Transport .
i hadnt been till 2020 but to think that Space Spiral and Disaster Transport would close at the end of the year to make way for GateKeeper in 2013. In 2016 Valravn opened they closed mean streak and turned it into Steel Vengance which opened in 2018 and now Wicked Twister is gone.
Forgot about witches wheel being removed as well. Mantis is Rougarou now.
Idk why but looking back the old CP entrance kinda looked like the entrance to a Mall lol, but man it’s amazing how much the park has changed.

I think they really made a mistake getting rid of Space Spiral and adding Windseeker. Windseeker just doesn't work in that location. They should have had someone design a more modern version of Space Spiral that can operate with the weather there instead. Yes, I know Windseeker isn't in the same exact location that Space Spiral was, but they basically serve the same purpose.
Windseeker doesn’t serve the exact same purpose as Space Spiral. Windseeker is more of a thrill ride. However, I do agree that the location sucks. I visit Cedar Point at least 4 times a year and it’s hardly ever open because of the wind (which is ironic given the name “Windseeker”), making it one of the least popular rides at the park.
