@@arronbamford8514 I was so nervous watching him in this final, when Judd clawed it back in the afternoon I feared the worst. Tbh I went into it not really liking him at all but after the final I found a whole new respect for him. It was one of the great crucible tales
Beautifully put. Some real hard defeats there, starting with the collapse vs Selby in 2014. Fought back to 12-12 vs Hawkins but lost the decider. James Cahill was the worst of the lot, playing 0 safety and looking like he wanted to lose. The Ali Carter shoulder bump. Another final frame heartache vs McGill. Happy to say that no one blew him out though.
Great video. Thanks. Ronnie was really up for it this year. Every match he kept his concentration. He beat John Higgins in the semi and Judd Trump in the final. That's 2 player's Ronnie's had trouble beating in recent years, but Ronnie really wanted this 7th title, no matter what he says about records, there's no way he wanted to retire after winning most UKs and Master's and being 1 behind Hendry in the World's. I'm sure he would love to win an 8th, but if it doesn't happen at least he knows he's got 7 World's, 7 UKs and 7 Master's and isn't behind Hendry. What a legend.
That made me cry, had lost his head over the past 5 years (14-19). The hunger returned and so has his world titles. There's one more in him somewhere 👌❤️
This year was the first time in many years I have watched the snooker. Ronnie was pure genius, I was so pleased for him. Unlike Hendry who just gave up when he started loosing, Ronnie has renewed himself and is now better than ever, hands down. Also hands down he is the best player ever in the modern game. Well done to him and his physiologist who has obviously helped him tremendously. Fortunately I missed his loosing years, I live in Asia where pool is the game, but thanks to the internet I have found snooker again. Very emotional, I'm only a few years older, well maybe 10 but I regard him one of my generation, Jimmy White and Alex Higgins I suppose were more my generation. Thats unfair, probably Hendry lol.
Just watched this again. Still makes me shed a tear of joy 😢. Ive watched him for 25+ years, I was so happy for Ronnie 👍🏻 This guy is my snooker hero 🐐
This video is so good i had to watch it twice. Its fitting for O'Sullivan to get to 7 he had to first beat Selby in a one table in 2020 semi and then beat Wilson 18-8.He had to beat Gilbert,Allen, Maguire,Then his rival for 30 years and the guy many have rated the greatest ever over the years John Higgins in the semi and then the Guy who is 33 and people thought with Ronnie's Dip especially in Finals over the last 3 seasons where he lost 9 Finals and then Trump who won 11 tournaments in 2 season's was next to face the greatest player in history and Ronnie at 46 years and 5 months old beat them all and did what he does best-He made it look easy
Ronnie got nothing to prove now. He's the greatest of all time. I'm happy to exist on Earth in the same period as him. If he continues to play snooker, I'll watch him, if he stops playing, I'll watch his old videos. I just want him to be happy, that what matters the most. Not the fame, not the awards. Just peace!
It took a long time to get over that Slowby loss in 2014.. But then he beat him in that amazing semi in 2020 to lay any ghosts to rest.. He won his 6th... & now he's won his 7th 👏👏 the great man has done it... Role on 8 Ronnie... Take the record for yourself....
@@adamoksiuta4715 Definitely. That was a huge moment in Ronnie's resurgence, especially in the world championship. Beating Selby in that Semi Final, playing the way he wanted really gave Ronnie so much pleasure. Then to win his 6th, was a massive incentive to go on and win his 7th, and possibly an 8th, but I'm sure he's so happy not to be behind Hendry and to be joint 7 world titles.
You can genuinely see how hard he fought to take it this season. I feel he needed 2020 for some inspiration towards winning it again because I believe losing 2014 scarred him. I honestly think a part of him believed he wasn't beatable as he made a 3rd final in a row, a chance to win 6. But being beaten took it out of him, like a kick in the guts if you will. Even though he fell 0-3 down to both Gilbert and Higgins, as Hendry said no-one was able to put any pressure on him because he didn't allow it to happen. Every player he faced didn't get enough of a chance against him to mount any kind of comeback. I feel this is what he needed to get to the record breaking (and equalling) 8th world title, and maybe another UK and Masters title. Maybe a couple maxis on the way. This I feel could be the one thing that stirs that fight inside him. Judd believed that he'd lost his fight, his killer instinct, but boy did he show Judd up here.
Well done mate, I remember that pink he missed, it was massive and changed the match in 2014. Still think he done his nut in semi final in 2020 v Selby but win it.
Would have been amazing if he had beaten Selby in 2014. 3 in a row. I believe if he had beaten Selby then, he would have 9 or 10 titles now, but the 2020 semi final was just so sweet. Coming from 16-14 behind to just blast off those 3 frames like he was playing in a local club, then the spiteful interview with Selby saying Ronnie shouldn't be playing the game that way. WHAT?? Selby who drags frames out for 80 minutes and just destroys your will to live when you're watching it. He's a great player, why doesn't he play more attacking, I've seen him play really well, then he will just revert back to dragging the frame out for what seems like eternity.
@@kevanbrown7620 Depends on his opponent. If Selby has the beating of him he will go on the attack and is quite fluent when he gets going. Against a big rival however he will park the bus so to speak and play on the counter. Notice how he slowed the game down against Bingham when he had lost 5 in a row in their SF last year. When things don't go his way he becomes ultra defensive to stop his opponents from bossing him as well as to break up their rhythm.
@@SnookerFan-kl1jj Yeah, I see what you're saying. He's obviously a great player, he's just not someone I would go out of my way to watch unless he's playing someone who I like to watch. Thanks.
@@kevanbrown7620 I lnow what you mean he is not pretty but he is most definitely tricky. I think beating Selby 2 yrs ago was the best win of Ronnie's career. Selby is a hard nut to crack, especially at the World Championship which is tailor made for him. Had Ronnie lost it would have given Selby a 3-0 record over him at the Crucible. His detractors would then have argued how he could be the GOAT if he couldn't beat his toughest opponent at the big one, so yeah I enjoyed that one the most.
That's a really good point. If Ronnie had of lost against Selby in that match, I think it would have hurt Ronnie and gave the anti O'Sullivan group a massive argument against him being the goat. It was such a sweet victory, but very nerve wracking watching it at the time. On my previous reply, I meant to say are you "trolling" me, as a joke in reference to that person commenting on Nadal and Federer. lol. That was quite amusing. Take Care.
When he lost against Selby in previous final, I just thinking about he's just give that trophy to Selby. Cause normaly he will just pot that pink and keep leading the game
He's won it 7 times he's world number 1 at 46 he's won 21 majors 39 ranking titles the most centuries and 147s keeping hendry Higgins Williams Selby robbo ding now trump at bay entertaining us for decades keeping snooker sponsors happy and viewing figures up all on his own terms never been a slave to the game.... His longevity is legendary and will be his lecacy his aura and presence is unique nobody like him everything he does makes headlines for the sport 🦋🌈🙏
His snooker is scary now. Idt he pots balls quite as well as a younger him, but he is playing more match style snooker, grinding out tough frames. And he's playing loose, very tough to beat.
