Bench Lake Fire Update - July 21, 2024

We received an IR flyover last night, providing us with the most up-to-date information on fire intensity and spread.
The fire is burning the strongest on the NW side, moving down into Fishhook Valley. Fire crews built another mile of "mixed construction line," using both mechanized machinery and hand tools to create a fire break.
Containment has reached 13%, with the newest addition by the Point Campground near @redfishlakelodge. Support the workers of the lodge by donating to their GoFundMe page: www.gofundme.c...
Both @svtrek Bench and Fishhook huts are still standing. The fire is getting dangerously close to Fishhook Hut, but hopefully, the mixed line will hold!
Water scoopers were hitting the fire hard again on the NW side into Fishhook Creek, helping to slow the fire down.
Thanks to all the hard work from the fire crews! It's amazing to only see small growth each day.
