There is no way they fixed the shifters vs V1 and going with painted buttons instead of the standard buttons with caps is a real miss too. Once you feel magnetic shifters, you won't be able to use this. Absolutely great video, love the coverage.
I also upgraded my GT wheel with simpush magnetic paddles, way better

At 3:42 you said there is no noticeable flex when pressing the buttons but it looks like it's going to break...at least on camera. I dont know if there is any improvement here.
If it's anything like my GT wheel then be careful of the D analog button, mine came off and looks impossible to fix without opening the wheel up

Great review, but I still can't decide whether to buy this or choose Clubsport Hub v2. This is a bit cheaper and doesn't have magnetic shifters, but I'm not sure that is worth paying more.
I want to get one of the new bundles but I can't decide between the round 320 vs the round 330 wheel. I see you using both here @OC Racing , do you have any preference between those?

Though I wish it was a bit more rigid on full extended (like 5-10%), it still feels like it's not up wheel. Overall I love this hub, especially for VR. Each button is strategically located and different that it's pretty quick finding the buttons blindfolded, though it still does take getting used to it. Yet only two days of uses and it's starting to get almost easy. Don't need to button a button box any more to make it easier to find the buttons.
But is it better than CSL steering wheel (P1 v2, BMW or WRC)?
Does this product solve the flex problem that fanatec have on quick release?
This product doesn’t influence the quick release at all, so no, it doesn’t solve any issues with the QR.
Have a v1, and have a dreadful flaw and is double shifting by the flex then totally extended, the metal backend will do little to do this behavior, in my case I fix it with pibes of wood from the hub till the wheel spokes to add rigidity in this section. No more double or miss shift
How does it attach to the wheel base? Currently my rims have the collars you pull towards you to slide the rim on and off but this one looks like it just slides on and you have a twist lock to secure the rim to the base?
This is easily the best review on this rather useful device. I love being able to choose my rim, from Fanatec or not. Awesome idea well executed. So glad I got into their ecosystem!

Not bad. Still going with the Podium hub and the classic rim... for reasons. But this would have been it, if I didn't have the WRC and the McLaren rims already.

Podium hub will serve you beter in my opinion. I sold my V1 CSl universal hub, couldn't stand the plastic feel.
I had the wrc and mclaren as well. After trying the bmw gt rim (the round one) there was no way i would ever go back to the wrc. That thing feels bad. Though i thought it felt awesome before i have tried something else.
Is there any way to adj or mod the shifters forward for deeper dish wheels?

This looks awesome, well priced as well. Really starting to regret sticking to the Thrustmaster ecosystem and getting the T818. It's a great DD, no issues with it, they're just so slow with adding anything for it, whereas every other company making DD's is making moves every damn week (especially Moza)
Can you please do a budget hack build from fanatec for ps5 without getting the gt7 bundle if possible. Thanks in advance!

Yes, but to unlock the full torque you need the metal QR1.

Is it just me or this v2 sounds and looks a bit ...plastic? I have the v1 and despite being a bit heavy that thing looks, sounds and feels solid. I have mine for more than 4 years now with no complaints. I hope this one is a real evolution of it's older brother.

I had every intention of going with Fanatec on my new setup but they just seem so expensive for cheap looking devices. I can't believe that you use to have to spend $200 for the podium hub or $350 for the better version of this, just to mount an aftermarket wheel. Fanatec has been discounting existing products and coming out with cheaper new ones, because Moza is wiping the floor with them. Plus you can buy Moza in store, if you live near a Micro Center.

This is simply not a useable product for most of the fanatec customer base, it has simply too many compromises. It might be a good step up if you come from a logitech or thrustmaster, but if you are going to invest into a fanatec ecosystem, you either pay a bit more to get something you can really use for years to come, or you simply don't because it's not in your budget range.
No QR2, no more Fanatec hardware.
Sounds harsh, but how can I buy more into their ecosystem if I know that one of the most important steps doesn't work properly... I still screw down the csl wheel and very rarely switch to my mclaren wheel, even when switching from drifting to driving GT3 style cars. 😠
This should help slow the bleeding of fanatec customers to the Chinese companies like Moza and Simagic.
what fanatec needs is good customer service. There is no more of that at the moment.
If I ever get back into pc racing, I will probably get Fanatec. Seems like they are the company that everyone's trying to keep up with. If they could produce product's as fast as Logitech and thrustmaster, they could corner the market. Great video bud. Really cool addition for fanatec.
I'd look into some other options as well, Moza for example is fairly new but they've got some really competitive stuff.
@smallbutdeadly931 LOL. I chose not to mention Moza because my response would be too long. Moza is there and has some awesome products. Price vs product is why I didn't say anything. My opinion Fanatec has them beat right now with the, looking out somewhat for the poor man. I speak more of the bases. You can upgrade with fanatec by buying a power supply. Have to buy a new base if you want to go from 5 to 8 or 9nm. Definitely not a game changer but it makes some of us feel a little better about spending money. Now that being said, I have never had the opportunity to try out fanatec or moza, so I will never say one is better than the other because I don't know. Fanciest base I've ever had was the ts-xw and it broke right after a year and I bought it brand new. I'm sure I can get it fixed but I just cut my losses and got rid of all my sim equipment and gave up. Sorry about the long useless info.
Nobody is trying to keep up with Fanatec. Fanatec is the bottom of direct drive right now. Fanatec tries to lower their prices as much as they can to keep a market share.
@azamat19 I wouldn't say they are the bottom. I'd give that to Logitech and TM. I think the cammus dd wheel is better than logitech and TM just on price alone.
@@PJDobbs simagic is even better than moza. If you can get a alpha mini for a decent price. Thats where i think performance price ratio is the best. Lovely wheelbase.
Personally, I'm waiting for the new modification FANATEC DD PLUS 13-15NM. I'm sure that millions of people care about the average power DD. We have 8nm and 20nm but there is no average power and this is 13nm.

Lol what they need is reliability.. the hub is stupid for lets say nascar wheel. Theres no place for either little screen or xbox button, the sd base keep going into safe mode after like 15min.. csl pedals are rubish, universal hub shifters to short even the extension ! For the nascar wheel at least.. the only good thing is club sport pedals.. csl elite p1 steering wheel, csl base also kinda ok .. but for dd I will go to thrustmaster most likely.. ohh also whats the point of the small buttons on top of universal hub v3 ? Its same buttons thats on the front so can't be mapped separately 🤣🤡 and the xbox button doest go to sides or up/down, so in like gt7 cant change tc,brake settigs while driving...
Yes, the gearshift is the most important thing in Nascar Fanatec has no idea I have to change gear in every corner! 😂
