You once said that you're not a DaVinci guy but rather a video production guy. Guess what, you're channel is my go-to place for DaVinci tricks and tips!!
@@MayorMapp Yeah, depending on the project sometimes I'm just hired to film and then I hand off the footage to an in house editor that the client works with 🙂
I also highly suggest looking into Reverb Impulse Response VST plugins (like Convology XT). They emulate REAL environments by using a (stereo) recording (.WAV) of a short impulse containing all frequencies in that environment. All sound passed through that plugin then mirrors the way the impulse was recorded. To use the radio example: If you would record the impulse played back through a transistor radio standing on a table in the back of a room, the Impulse Response plugin would then make any audio sound like it is played through that transistor radio standing in the back of the room. So instead of being reduced by fixed settings, you can use countless recorded impulses from web libraries or record your own impulse response and use that to create the reverb you need.
The word you're looking for is "convolution." From what I understand this plugin (Place It) is also using convolution. Looks like a lovely thing; I'm going to download it now.
Just want to personally thank you for such a helpful video. This is exactly what I've been looking for. You are an asset to the Davinci Resolve Community!
I knew I saw a video about this plugin before but I couldn't find it. Thank you for covering this... I was pulling out my hair looking for this plugin!
Lol I didnt even know this was a thing. Soundly's main platform is already amazing too. Highly recommend Soundly for a super fast sound library. They also just added an excellent voice to text that incorporates the same spatial effects shown here. Great for generating narrative tracks. Pretty solid all in one for the price. Great video, thanks!
ERA is also awesome for voice processing. No longer available due to them being bought out. But for the few of us who grabbed it before they took it down 👀
@@LosCetos Yeah, I occasionally use some of the ERA plugins as well, though since Resolve added the "voice isolation" feature I've found myself using them less and less which is why most of them aren't even enabled in my preferences anymore. Only got the two seen in the video because I still find a use for them every now and then. It is a shame they're not going to receive any more updates though 😕
You saved my life! I had to dig hard to find this video! You rule! All i wanted was a simple solution to turn ADR into something usable for medium and wide shots in Resolve and this did the trick! Thanks again!
Dang, I've never even thought of such a thing existing, but this will immensely speed up my process of sound designing my films. Sound editing/design is the portion of post-production I dread the most because it takes me forever, and I'm not an expert so I just end up fiddling with knobs until I happen onto something that sounds decent.
Looks like a very nice plugin for sound placement and video audio design. For precise sound placement (but not so much for other aspects of how a sound should feel in the atmosphere), I've been using Sennheiser's free VST Ambeo Orbit, which lets you define where a sound is coming from in three dimensions, and whether it's a very precise location or a wider area it's coming from. Also a very useful plugin, but I'm definitely downloading this one to try out.
How did you get Sennheiser Ambeo Orbit to work in Davinci Resolve? I have installed that plugin and put it in a matching directory, but it's still not showing up in Davinci Resolve.
@@Bi0Dr01d I didn't do anything special. The same as you did, probably, except it does show up in my DaVinci Resolve, in the uncategorised VST group. I do believe I have on occasion looked for VST's that didn't show up, though, so it doesn't seem 100% relaible in discovering them.
@@hakonsoreide Thank you so much for responding. I was hoping that I was missing something. I guess that means I simply won't be able to use the VST 🤷, even though I did it right lol.
@@Bi0Dr01d It is a very useful plugin, so it might be worth trying again, putting it in a different directory, refreshing, or reinstalling it. Also, have you checked all the automated VST categories to see if it isn't in there somewhere unexpected?
@@hakonsoreide Okay, it is installed successfully 👍, my mistake. I was searching for the plug-in in the plugins list by the letter "s" for "Sennheimmer", not "Ambeo". Also, either I, or my mouse drifted slightly, and accidentally clicked on the Filters subfolder rather than the audio effects folder just below it, and that's why I couldn't find it. 2 very minor detours that led me off course.
Love those! Definitely going to check it out. I do reality TV editing and small scale short films and this would be such a big time saver! Definitely gained a subscriber
Definitely going to be downloading this and giving it a try. I do a lot of stuff with various audio that relates to cars such as exhaust notes, interior button sounds, and other things like that and I'm excited to see what this plugin can do with them. Thank you for sharing!

Second example the term for that is futz. When a sound comes through another source in the scene. Mcdsp charges $100 for their plug-in. Soundly’s is a steal.
Thanks a lot George, as always very helpful. I’ve been struggling to make the reverb to sound the way I want it to be in fairlight and it’s for free! Have to почерпя.
