On this episode of Abenz Fishing I went out to do some snook fishing and it was not working out. I had some very light tackle relative to my normal gear, a van staal vsb50 and an 8' Medium rod with 20 lb test braid and 30 lb leader. I encountered some giant fish around some HEAVY structure and managed to get them out!

Might sound crazy but I really only like to run 30-40 . I used to be big on the 60-80 but you get way more eats on lighter leader
@@terioslayinem I run 40 or 50 for most of my gear I use 30 for light stuff, like Spanish mackerel or blue fish
Just got back from FMB last week, and didn't catch squat using Mojarra. Even a dolphin in the shallows wasn't touching it. Lucky you, lol!

@AbenzFishing gotcha!!! Oh okay those fish are gigantic, I'd use my 14k Stella on em lol.. I wonder if my 4000 Stella FK (freshwater) 24lbs of drag would crank those beauties in.

@@AbenzFishing yeah im not a huge van staal fan, I am really impressed with the Stellas. arent they like heavy and not very smooth...
@@miketorre16 so the staals feel heavy out of the box because they’re fully fully sealed, but under tension, they feel the exact same as they do in the box, I’m not sure how to best describe it. If you took a Stella and casted a 5 ounce jig against current and hooked into a fish, the smoothness kind of goes away, whereas the staal it becomes smoother under tension.

lol dude - you’re awful attention span is not my fault. I literally caught a huge fish on the bait in the thumbnail with the rod in the thumbnail at the spot in the thumbnail. 🤦♂️
