Johannes Brahms "Geistliches Wiegenlied" 2020 (Our favourites)

Johannes Brahms wrote his "Geistliches Wiegenlied" (Spiritual Lullaby) to bring about reconciliation between his friend, the violinist Joseph Joachim, and his wife during a marital crisis. Although this attempt failed, the soothing gesture of the lullaby remains. The harmony of viola and voice is still one of the most beautiful evocations of musical harmony.
