I've been using this for a few years now and it does help. To the shooter it makes the 5.56 sound more like a shotgun. It's more airy and less high pitch if that makes sense.
I've had this same Whitt Machine SME on my .260 for about 4 years. It does exactly as you say. Definitely don't put your hearing protection away, but it does project the sound away from the shooter and other people behind the gun which is appreciated at the range. The only other thing I do is when I actually shoot for accuracy, I take the shroud off and just use the brake. The brake is very effective on recoil and it just seems to me, the accuracy is better without the shroud. Not by much but noticable. Great review and very honest.
I’d like to get one to try on my PRS gun. All I’ve ran them on thus far has been ARs so I don’t notice any accuracy change to speak of. Maybe I can get in touch with Witt and see about getting something put together for the viewers!
In the video, it doesn't seem to reduce the dB level, but instead, the sound impulse seems shortened. Like the secondary reverb from the shot goes away, compared to the unsuppressed shots.
So at the shooters ear, it is a bit easier to take. It’s not as sharp and painful but more of a pop. Idk if that makes sense. It’s something you really need to hear in person to go “ohhhh ok”😂
@@PewTube24 ...they had the Mod 1 suppressors on sale too...If I'd had the money, I'd'a bought the Dirty Thirty...IIRC the cost was close to 300 bux...just didn't have it...fixin' top use the SME on my 10.5 in 5.56 barrel I recently bought from PSA
That’ll be a sweet setup man! Im not sure if you follow Witt on Instagram but you might go ahead because they give decent heads up on when they’ll be running sales so you can get some funds lined out for the next time! Maybe follow ya boy while you’re at it😆
I would put this near the top of non-class III devices. I can’t say it’s better than a Warden since I haven’t personally used one BUT I can say that it beats the Warden on actual value of what you pay for what you get. Especially since right now they’re 25% off and that lands them at $131.25 😎
I haven’t heard of those! I’ll have to see about getting my hands on one of those and a surefire warden to do a video comparing all 3 options. I think that might be nice to see🤷🏼♂️
I’m not 100% sure, haven’t tested that yet since I don’t have a safe way to do so. I will guess that it probably won’t be the best option, I would lean you towards a suppressor for that purpose
@@Brykk I'm looking for the same purpose. As far as I can tell, even a suppressor, in close quarters is gonna be loud. Really loud. I'm not doing the whole NFA bs so I'll probably go with one of these. I guess a reduction of ~ 11db, which I've seen them rated at, is better than nothing. 🤷🏻♂️
I’m going to try it. People are asking about scientific ways of testing the decibel,it’s only about $175. I have hundreds of dollars worth of holster that I don’t even use.worst case scenario it join them on the pile
If I had a decibel meter I would 100% show it that way but without having that, this seems to be the only way to get it to come across on camera. I’ve been very impressed with mine and I plan on getting another one for my 7mag deer rifle just because they’re so lightweight.
The volume of the music is the only way to tell how loud the shot was. Phone audio equalizes everything to be one volume and then comes back to normal, so when you hear the music come back to how it sounded before the shot, you can tell a sound difference. Otherwise it all sounds the same on a recording.
You telling us you're demonstrating a device and you got music in the background? How unprofessional can you be?I'm quite sure you'll get a lot of comments just like this
Lmao. Luckily most people heard me say why I had the music going, plus I don’t claim to be a professional so if someone thinks I’m unprofessional, they’re right.
Witt Machine has not paid you for this.
But we are watching your channel with great interest, and we appreciate your honesty.
Always! That’s how I run my business and that’s how the videos will always be🤙🏻
@@PewTube24 As it should be.
I wish there was a science based way to test this. I understand the equipment is expensive but I’d love to see the numbers
There’s a video out there, it’s done by Tactical Shit I believe if you’d want to check it out

That’s a great way to explain the sound. I never thought about it like that!

@PewTube24 I can imagine that would be correct, based off of what I'm hearing in the video. Great job!
Thank you! Trying to do my best with what I’ve got🙌🏻
The sound is pushed forward, it takes that cracking feeling out your ears. I own one and it makes a HUGE DIFFERENCE
...ordered a SME two days ago...I've been impressed with its ability to focus the concussion/sound downrange...caught their Labor Day sale for $131...

I always liked the idea of a muzzle brake but will never use one after shooting a 7mm with a brake.
This product is a game changer.
Can confirm, works wonders on a 7 mag. Best part was no noticeable POI shift
Here for the range day and competition vids coming!
Roger that!
What fun store do u own? I'd love to come by and get your help picking out a surpressor. I know very little about them
I don’t own it I just run the store for the guys but it’s called Pickles Gap Weapons Shack and we are in Conway, AR!
How do you rate this device to others in the same category? Im looking for the quietest without getting a tax stamp. Haha.
