Use the comb for duckweed, ever since I saw your first video on it.When using a net I always caught fish by mistake. Its genius.Joanna you have the best smile on youtube
Joanna, can you see, I have my hand raised! I super glue my fingers all the time! And I’ll see you this weekend! I hadn’t even thought about Aquashella until I got an email from Aquarium Co-Op yesterday. I’ve now got tickets, airline, hotel, etc.! I saw Jason listed as a speaker, and you just confirmed you’ll be there, too. I might be slightly excited about this! Have an awesome week!
Yay no more glue and crusty fingers that get stuck to scape lol and the comb idea I used for dwarf hair grass. Also use combs for removing rock wool. Been using your plastic soldiers idea too 👍 Thanks Joanna
⭐️ Great tips as usual! Sorry I’m so late to watch and comment today, I was in Lake Geneva!! Beautiful day for it. ☀️ 💕 ☕️ 🌊 ⛵️ Hope you are having a great weekend Joanna!
Oh the combs, elastics, and toothbrushes I have, but that root touch up brush...girl YES, how cool is that? Perfect size and angled right. Don't ever stop thinking out of the box and sharing with us what you find works well for our little small scapes. 😘 👍❤👍
I look at dollar stores so differently since I found you! 😊 All of these ideas are great. The root touch up brush is so awesome! Thin and perfect to get into little tight spots!
Lovin' it, will kinda look weird when I'm up at the register buying beauty products, however it wouldn't be the first time. lol Minor tip; there's a million ideas for bacterial surface area and cut up combs inside a mesh bag might be one of the best. My girlfriend does this in her puffer tank and I was surprised when she showed me. She bought an entire bag of cheap combs at Dollar Tree and used plier style wire cutters to clip them apart. 10 combs filled a whole bag. Each piece is about 3/4'' of an inch and lays flat in an HOB when fitting rings or other media is difficult for tiny HOB's. Another Dollar Tree find, rigid airline tubing is costly and hard to find, try balloon yard holders over on the party aisle. I saw then in black or white, they're 'just' larger than aquarium tubing but silicone style soft tubing will connect. Once in a while rigid tubing is very handy. 6 18'' pieces for a buck twenty five.
Wouldn't a hair pick be great for a lot of that stuff, and maybe houseplants too? Soon setting up my first tank! A new obsession thanks to channels like yours.
I have often wondered about the clear elastics as I have loads. Now I know it’s ok I shall use them. You truly are an encyclopaedia of fishy knowledge ♥️
I admire your creativity and imagination in using products for aqua care. I use hair picks to remove floaters in my nano tanks. It’s easier and more maneuverable for me to use.
Such great ideas. Just waiting on moss and plants to arrive to set up a shrimp tank. The substrate is sand at the front so the combs will be super useful. Thanks Jo.
Holy cow!!! My mind is blown! How do you come up with it? Especially that spiral hair band for the sticks. I always glue my fingers and for some reason the glue still didn’t want to do what I wanted it to
Ever the source of handy tips! How did you even resist making any aquarium puns about roots and hair care (dwarf hair grass, hair algae, any root touch-ups in the tank). 😂😅 Off to the Dollar Tree again (like I need an excuse). Sure wish I were going to get to see you guys this weekend while we’re in Dallas 😢 Have an awesome time!
Great ideas that you always come up with. I have a good idea for your container joy video. I bet you could make a really cool carnivorous bog garden. Just a thought. Miss your container joy videos.
Hi Tom, that would be fun. Thank you for that! Ya, I’m afraid no more videos on that channel, there’s just zero time available for it and I don’t want to take away any attention from this one. I will be bringing some land elements back into the small scape though. 🙂
@@thesmallscape I know that the water from the fish should not bother the carnivore. I wonder if you could landscape higher up into the aquarium and place a tropical pitcher plant there. If you can find a large pumice stone, that is an easy drill for Jason to do and has nice structure and absorbs the water so no watering. Can be like a mountain effect. Just thought it would be something different for the small scape. You can get tropical pitcher plant that would be perfect for the aquarium.
I'll give you another idea take an empty plastic spool of sewing thread, put it halfway down in your substrate and then stick your plants stems through the spoke holes to keep in place. LOL we should call it tips for a tight budget
👌it's also a sign for my thumbs stuck together from super glue...tee hee. I also like small (not tiny) rubber bands for holding down some zucchini onto a rock for my fish & snail:)
Oh my god the little comb gardening spikes!!! Brilliant! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the tip on scooping the duckweed out with a comb!

Awww thanks! ☺️
It’s such a joy to watch you!! I would have never thought of your ideas!! You’re a creative GENIUS!!!!! 👏🎉🙌
'There are 2 different uses for a comb' (neither of which has anything to do with hair care). LOL! My people!!
😆😆👏🙌woop!
I look at dollar stores so differently since I found you! 😊 All of these ideas are great. The root touch up brush is so awesome! Thin and perfect to get into little tight spots!
Could you imagine how much a pet store would charge for these items? 😆
Oh my goodness, the comb to clean out duckweed is genius! And easier to clean than a net.
It works pretty dang well and pretty satisfying ☺️

Such great ideas! I will be getting a comb to scoop out the duckweed! It's such a pain to do it with a net!
I wish I could go to Aquashella😭 You can also use the comb to scrape off the rock wool off of the plant roots
Omg ok the comb one, genius! Also I was already using the tiny elsatics to attatch plants before they root themselves, it works great!
I have often wondered about the clear elastics as I have loads. Now I know it’s ok I shall use them. You truly are an encyclopaedia of fishy knowledge ♥️
Great tips! Hilarious yet useful!!!

Oh nice! ☺️
Time for a trip to Dollar tree! Tanks for sharing.
Landscape staple 🤣 that is awesome! Such cleaver ideas! Thanks 😊
Hi Shelby! Lol 😂
@@thesmallscape ❤️ love your content 😁
Awesome reminder! $1(and a quarter) store here I come!
I love the comb in the substrate idea!
Such great ideas. Just waiting on moss and plants to arrive to set up a shrimp tank. The substrate is sand at the front so the combs will be super useful. Thanks Jo.
Electric toothbrush is awesome too!❤️🇦🇺

Oh wow. I totally missed that! SO many puns! Oh, I am bummed we will not see you but I understand. A very Happy Anniversary to your parents! ☺️
Love the inspector gadget shirt btw!!

Great ideas
Thank you for so many great ideas. I need to buy tools in the hair aisle soon!
Very cool ideas! I just saw this now.
More great ideas
Super-helpful tips, thank you!!
Great tips as always! 🌹❤ Gina
I love your videos. So many great ideas.
Nifty. 😊 thanks for the tips
I wish I'd seen that about the comb n micro sword, about 3 water changes ago...... 🙄
You just solved my problem with my little cory devils 🤦🏻♂️ Dollar store here I come 🙂
Ooh like the new one!
Omg thei hair tie tip around the branch is genius!! Shamelessly stealing!!!
Cool ideas. Do the spiral ties sink well? Could they work as an alternative to anchors/weights for stem plants, or better to go with the comb?

🤭 Oh nice - that’s a great use!
Sorry to be watching late but today has been a last minute run around and get things for my niece leaving for Veterinary college tomorrow!
Well, good luck to you!
@@thesmallscape thanks!
Great ideas! Will Anubias be ok if I use a "loose" zip tie ? or Do you think a "loose" small rubber band is better. - TY
Either would be great! A lot of folks use either option. ☺️
I will miss Aquashella this year 😢
Sorry to hear that - I hope maybe you can make another one soon!
