Thank you very much! I am passionate about elevating the standards of my industry and the consumer. And in light of the current Covid-19 virus, we are going to see a much more savvy consumer seeking salons that are practicing much higher standards of infection control, use of PPE's and proper ventilation within the salon.

Thank you so much for this video, I have been researching this over and over on what the uv box does and does not do, and what autoclaves are and what they do. so thank you a ton.

Most states require tattoo artists to autoclave. There are many options on sizes depending on how big of a shop you have. You can also find used ones on the internet. The company that services my autoclave sells them used. Best of luck to you!

Use the disposable tubes, with the rubber grips, they are a bit more expensive but so much better on your hands and no worry about cross contamination. You still need to use proper barrier films. On everything. It generates a whole lotta plastic waste and you will fill trash after trash…. Speaking of…. You need to mark your trash as a biohazard so meth heads don’t haul it off…. This is a topic you need to be 150% confident in, and keeping records of your cycles/ numbering and or dating your batch…. RUclips is a sketchy place to learn cuz too many people who are good artists are shit at science….

I just had this conversation with my nail salon yesterday but I guess I’m the jerk for knowing this. Only thing that I would change in this video is when you load the auto clave you do not stack the bags on top of each other either you have a rack and stand them up or lay 1 layer no over lapping them.

Thank you for your comment. We generally do put two/three bags per tray and spread them out enough so the steam can expand the bag. I was instructed 10 years ago when i first started autoclaving by a Clean room technician at Brigham and Womans Hospital in Boston.
Our industry is still sadly behind in the disinfection/sterilization area.

Hi, and thank you for your time and knowledge. My girlfriend is a nail artist and has about 3 clients a day 6 to 7 days a week. She has to spend time cleaning and sanitizing her tools manually every day. I'm looking to surprise her with an autoclave. Do you think it would save her a lot of time or is it over kill. Do you think I should look into an ultra sonic cleaner as well?

Thank you for reaching out with your questions! I am passionate about my industry and elevating the standards (desperately needed) We are the only industry besides medical and body arts that have the capability to break the skins surface. And it happens more often than we like. A scrape of a nail file, or electric file bit, a nail nipper or clipper... If we are not properly cleaning , disinfecting AND sterilizing we are putting our clients at risk! Many are at risk, diabetic (the numbers are growing daily) and also going through cancer treatments or survivors. We are all currently governed by state licensing boards. Most have very basic regulations and guidelines in place. The problem is they are very antiquated and changes to them are very political in nature. So, the best way to ensure we are protecting our clients is to step up our infection control. And in light of the current world situation (Covid-19) those salons who come back with top notch infection control, better use of PPE's and proper ventilation practices are going to succeed. The consumers are going to be much more savvy when emerging back out looking for salons that are promoting these very things. We will see alot of the "walk in" type of salons close. So, my recommendation to you and your girlfriend would definitely be to invest in a ultra sonic cleaner and autoclave! Also not sure if she does this now but single use files and buffers are a must! I can refer you to a industry professional supplier who sells the ultrasonic cleaners and autoclaves among other products to up her game. Check out cjscentreforbeauty.com Please tell her i sent you over. You can reach out via email to me with any other questions. prestigesalon508@gmail.com

Hi, I’m a lash artist would you recommend using this method to sanitize tweezers? I usually do the Barbicide process. When I work with my tweezers it doesn’t come in contact with the skin only the eyelash extension and the clients natural lash.
